Sa Posada de Balitx - beautiful townhouse in Fornalutx

This amazing house dates back to the 11th century and is an important part of Fornalutx. It was impressively modernized in 2019 with respect given the original features of the house.

Placed in the beautiful village of Fornalutx - several times named “The most beautiful village in Spain” - the Posada de Balitx is an historic 660 square meter residence that offers beautiful views of the mountains around Soller valley, and immediate access to the historic narrow alleys of Fornalutx with its flowers, small stores and restaurants. Soller valley offers endless opportunities for hiking, bicycling or simply enjoying the lush green landscape with creeks and orange groves. Port de Soller and a swim in the ocean is only 15 minutes away by car.

Although the Posada de Balitx is an old traditional stone house the interior light quality is excellent and the whole house is bathed in natural light throughout the day.

The house is entered from the old main street, once built by the Moors, through the beautiful main door. The spacious and cool “Entrada” is ideal for receiving guests with a cool drink after a walk.

On the first floor there is a large, fully equipped kitchen with two dishwashers, a large fridge / freezer, induction stove and hot air oven. The kitchen table seats 6 people and there are 3 seats by the kitchen island.

From the kitchen a terrace with outdoor seating for 12 persons can be accessed. The terrace is shaded by grapevine and bougainvillea. Here a plunge pool of approx 15 square meters is being constructed that will be ready for the 2020 holiday season. From the terrace there is access to the garden which is currently being created.

On the first floor, next to the kitchen, you will find the main dining room, with a large jacaranda table seating 12 under the designer chandelier. This room also houses a newly tuned piano and a working fireplace which makes it the perfect place for entertaining.

Next is the living room with plenty of cozy sofas and armchairs in front of another large, working fireplace.

Also on the first floor is a romantic green bedroom with a double bed in front of a french balcony and with an en suite bathroom with green marble floor and a shower.

One storey up there is another bedroom with a double bed, several cupboards and an ensuite bathroom.

From the main stairwell there is access to a large guest bathroom with a shower.

The big master bedroom suite is another half storey upstairs and boasts a french balcony with magnificent views, a double bed and a fireplace. In the adjacent hall there is also room for an extra bed. Perfect for a small family or for accommodating an extra friend. The en suite bathroom is accessed by a small stair case and has a free standing bath tub and a shower.

The top floor has two bedrooms with en suite bathrooms. One bedroom has a double bed and the other one a double bed and a sofa bed that fits two people.

Finally, at the very top of the house is the Studio with amazing views over the rooftops of Fornalutx, the mountains and the valley. A big space, ideal for activities like yoga, readings or spending time with friends. Or for just relaxing in the bean bags with a book. The studio is also equipped with a chromecast enabled projector and is often used as a home cinema during the nights.

Just outside the Studio is a roof terrace of approx 25 square meters equipped with a garden table, sun chairs and an outdoor shower for cooling on hot days. The terrace is perfect for pre-dinner drinks and snacks.

All in all, Sa Posada de Balitx offers a historic yet modern holiday with walking trails literally starting outside the house and with Soller and Port the Soller within walking distance. Deia and Palma can be reached in 20-30 minutes by car. The interior distribution and outside space also lends itself well to events and weddings.
