Forest park is a 5,100-acre municipal park sitting square in the middle (well, a bit to the left of the middle) of the city of Portland, Oregon. But to call it a municipal park, is like calling the Eiffel Tower an I-beam. The park is essentially a people-friendly urban forest, complete with all the flora and fauna you might expect to find there. There are seventy miles of walking trails, one of them -- the Wildwood Trail is 29 miles long from one end to the other. The park itself is about 8 miles to a side, so there are places at its heart that make you forget you are anywhere near a municipal area.

This shot was taken at about mile 17 of the Wildwood Trail. The blue diamond on the tree in the background is a quarter-mile marker.

As an aside, anyone who watches the popular television series, "Grimm," has undoubtedly heard the name Forest Park in connection with cases throughout the life of the series.

"Probably the nicest casino in Washington. The hotel is amazing and the rooms are very nice. Lots of food choices and I love that lounge with live music and dance. Only one small gripe and it’s the scent that they push thru the air vents…same thing in Las Vegas. I’m very sensitive to the smell and had to go in and out so I wouldn’t get nauseous. May not be able to stay again due to that smell. "

"This is a lovely hotel, located conveniently next to the convention center and Lloyd Center (although the latter is a crumbling ruin of its former self; I digress). "Bom hotel, bem localizado. Atendentes gentis. Tivemos problema com o quarto na chegada (não estava arrumado e era mais de 18 h) Pelo transtorno nos deram um upgrade. Bons produtos no banheiro, toalhas macias, roupa de cama de boa qualidade. Em cada andar tem um quadro diferente em 3D, e vários retratos e pôsteres relativos a Portland.
