Enter this gorgeous weatherboard to find your typical period features such as attractive polished floorboards and pressed metal ceilings. The formal sitting room has a cosy gas log Rinnai fireplace - enjoy a fireside drink before bed! Poppy Cottage is just a couple of doors away from the delightful Exeter general store.

There are 3 bedrooms at the front of the house sleeping 6 guests on 1 queen bed, 1 double bed and two king singles in a twin room. The style is eclectic and cosy with an interesting mix of artwork, furniture, and decoration. Step from the living room past the renovated bathroom with a magnificent freestanding bath on Travertine floors, shower and marble vanity into a stylish new open plan kitchen dining living area overlooking the garden.

The kitchen has marble benchtops, Nespresso coffee machine, all mod cons and lots of windows and light. There is a large dining table overlooking the garden and the choice of dining in or outside with the pergola and open fireplace providing a great outdoor setting.

The outdoor fireplace is a real feature in winter and there are beautiful shady trees in a long deep garden to enjoy in summer.

This is an ideal location to stay at for visiting local wineries, Brigadoon is Bundanoon, Highlands Fling, attending weddings at Montrose Berry Farm, Southern Highlands Winery, Eling Forest, and all the Highlands have to offer including the Glow Worm Glen, Solar Springs, Morton National Park. We are across the road from Exeter Antiques, and Gallery Ecosse, a contemporary art gallery situated in The Halcyon Cottage, circa 1869.

All linen (sheets and bath towels) is supplied for your stay and included in the tariff. For the comfort of our guests, we do not triple sheet. All beds have a fitted sheet, a flat sheet and a quilt with a full cover.

WiFi is offered as a complimentary extra. As there is no charge issues will be dealt with Asap but cannot be guaranteed.

This property will consider bookings for groups of young people and/or Schoolies, however, these bookings can only be made by application. Please message us; a comprehensive guest registration form must be completed prior to confirmation and a 2000 AUD cash bond is payable. Other conditions apply.

Notes

Noise at Properties: NSW Planning has passed laws that affect guests. The Code of Conduct for holiday renting can be found on our website under the Guest Information tab. In Section 2.5.2 of the STR Code of Conduct, guests have an obligation to ensure the peace and comfort of neighbours and other occupants of the premises (if strata) near holiday rental properties. This means guests have to be very mindful of noise made in or outside the property that can disrupt neighbours at any time of the day. If you or any other guest receives a warning regarding excess noise or excess guests, you may be asked to leave the property immediately with no refund of monies. Noise audible outside the property is prohibited.

Privacy: This property is a holiday rental, it is not a principal place of residence and there are no shared rooms. Enjoy your time in comfort and privacy.
Terms and Conditions: Detailed T&Cs apply for this property and payment warrants your agreement and that of all other guests staying at the property with you. Please share the T&Cs with your other guests.

Check-in and -out Times: During the busy months of December and January, the check-in time is 4 pm to facilitate peak back-to-back changeovers. Our standard check-in time is 3 pm and check-out time is 10 am. We offer a complimentary early check-in or late check-out time as a gesture of goodwill where booking and housekeeping schedules allow. Note that due to demand and housekeeping pressures, no early check-ins or late check-outs will be granted during the months of December and January. The safest way to secure an early check-in or later check-out is to book the property for an extra night. Contact us for a special rate for this extra night. All Sunday late check outs must be requested and approved prior to 5 pm on the Friday evening prior. All complimentary early check-ins or late check-outs must be confirmed in writing so that our housekeeping team are informed accordingly.

Guest Registration: Guest registration is mandatory for all bookings and replaces the need for a cash bond for short term bookings (up to 20 nights). It is essential for fraud prevention, damage claims, safety, and emergency purposes. The process varies depending on the online travel agent used. Direct bookings require the booker to upload a copy of their driver’s licence and credit card through our encrypted online process.

Additional Guests: The guest limits apply at all times during the booking. Any extra guests (this includes day visitors) above those that have been booked and paid for must be approved in writing prior to the stay. Only the guests staying at the property are permitted to be present. If you wish to have visitors in addition to booked guests, you must advise us in writing prior to your stay and ensure you receive written permission. This is not possible at all properties.

No Extras: This property is approved for accommodation only. No mattresses, tents, caravans or more cars than the property accommodates are allowed. Under no circumstances are the following activities permitted at any of our properties: motorbikes, dirt bikes, quad bikes, use of firearms or air rifles, fireworks.

EV Charging: For safety reasons and to comply with insurance requirements, guests are prohibited from charging electric vehicles at any property that does not have a dedicated EV charging station. Charging electric vehicles without proper infrastructure poses a fire hazard, and in the unfortunate event of an incident, insurance cover may be compromised, and the guest held liable. If in doubt, ask our team for the closest EV charging station.

Long Stay Discounts: Out of peak season stays of a week or more may qualify for a discount, please send us a message.

Property Information: Information during your stay can be found in the Guest Information Folder or by calling our office 24/7.

Security Deposit: For most bookings, completion of our registration process and a valid credit card with a $1000 available limit is sufficient for the security deposit. For medium-term bookings (21-40 nights) and long-term bookings (41-90 nights), a non-negotiable cash security deposit is required. This deposit, held in our Trust Account, is refunded after the departure inspection, with any damage or loss deducted. The minimum cash deposit is $2000, with higher amounts for larger or more expensive properties, or at the owner’s/agent’s discretion.

Peace of Mind: For your added security, this property is managed by a Licensed Real Estate Agent. We will never request payments be made to an overseas bank account and your money is held safely in our Trust Account until after your departure.

Poppy

Poppy is a great property but it needs a complete deep clean - pulled pans out of cupboards that were filthy, the plates are am over used grey colour, under the sink was dirty, I wiped something off the floor and my rag came up filthy brown, the cleaners forgot to leave washing up cloths and enough washing up liquid. A great property that is reflecting a little neglect. But with a little care she can sparkle again.

Everything was perfect. Would stay again…. But the Lounge chairs

This property is perfect on every level. The only issue is the very very low lounge chairs and sofa’s in both rooms.. we could not use them as we are in our golden years and required assistance alighting from them….a scene from funniest home videos…… as a result we did enjoy Time sitting around the table playing cards… Hoping to return next year same time and for a bit longer. Ambience plus plus plus

Poppy’s Cottage is wonderful.

Poppy’s Cottage is wonderful and the town of Exeter is beautiful. It was a wonderful experience. Loved the bath, the bed was comfortable and facilities were great. We will be back.

Lovely spot for a cute cottage

We enjoyed our stay at Poppy Cottage. Great spot with a short walk to Exeter General Store and the oval which had tennis courts and football goals. The cottage was cute with good heating and the queen bed was defiantly comfortable (I didn’t try the others). There weren’t really any supplies (cooking oil, pepper, washing powder, matches to light the fire, paper for the fire and paper towel) which would have been good to know beforehand. The outside fire was lively but you need to be able to chop wood!

Had a wonderful time at Poppy Cottage! The place is much larger than what I initially thought and very cosy. Modern but with a lot of character and charm. Barely felt the cold with the fireplace on!

Fantastic weekend stay

We booked Poppy Cottage as my daughter was married at Eling Forest Winery ( outstanding wedding venue). The property was spotless, it was larger than I expected. It was decorated in an eclectic fashion, very stylish and lots of interesting pieces. The art work was beautiful. The natural lighting and large windows out to the beautiful gardens was a pretty back drop for the bride and bridesmaids to have hair and makeup done. The location of the Cottage was perfect, we had dinner at Bundanoon Hotel - (10 mins away ) we had breakfast and coffee at the little cafe 100metres away from Poppy's - great coffee and food. Long driveway, able to get our cars off the road. Thank you for a great stay

Excellent base for Exeter and nearby villages

This cottage is an excellent base if you are spending some time in the Southern Highlands. Exeter is a delightful small village and the cottage is a 1 minute walk to the very good village cafe. Exeter is a very short drive away from Bundanoon, Moss Vale etc. The cottage is very clean with great living spaces (including a TV area separate from the lounge area) and a lovely back yard (which our dog was very happy about). We didn’t really use the kitchen but it looked well set up if you wanted to cook meals. Like most places in Exeter and Bundanoon you hear a few trains in the night.

Gorgeously quintessential country cottage

We loved it. Gorgeous spacious bright Carrara bench kitchen , bathroom so lovely with great bath. Happy bright sunny house which is bigger than originally thought. Gorgeous gentle country gardens. We will def come back .

Lovely area to enjoy taking day trips by car.

The cottage was very nice except a few things spoilt our stay. I don't think the cottage is catered for seniors who have bad backs. We found the lounge chairs very uncomfortable and so low it was nearly impossible to get up off them. Was hoping for a restful few days out of the 10 days we stayed but decided it best to go out every day while there. The beds were very hard and hated going to bed except for my sister who had the queen bed (which was softer). The kitchen was spacious, great big fridge but we found some things needed fixing. The tap in the sink is loose and someone had put a bowl under the sink to catch the drips. Also the tap in the bathroom sink needs fixing also. The shower was great and all the heaters in the cottage was needed as it was very cold while there. We loved the garden with all the beautiful flowering trees, just wish the back lawn had been mowed. Sorry for all the negatives but we were so looking forward to a comfortable holiday which we didn't get. We also did not realise that we would not get mobile coverage while in Exeter. Down the road in Bundanoon or Moss Vale you could but Exeter is in a black spot. Would we stay there again, probably not.

We LOVE this cottage

Poppy Cottage was perfect. It was in a fantastic location, beautiful traditional Australian cottage, but stylishly renovated. Fantastic yard, kitchen and bathrooms. We will definitely be back. We all slept the best we have in months. Thanks PS Loved the art too.
