"Withi-Gill was a beautiful cottage in a remarkable landscape -- views of Hoy and Graemsay were beautiful (when the weather cooperated, which was most days), and with a short walk, views of much of the western part of Mainland Orkney, including Stromness. "This was a pleasant cottage with parking in front. It was nicely decorated and beds were very comfortable.It was five minutes from a co-op food shop which opens seven days a week 7 am to 10 pm. Almost opposite the bus station and a two minute walk to the ferry. Bike hire is available in Stromness. And we had a great day taking the ferry over to hoy, cycling to Rackwick Bay and walking to see the old man of hoy sea stack. The cottage includes a small washing machine which we did use (only...

"Superb location in the centre of Kirkwall. Perfect for the two of us. There was an allocated parking spot for this particular apartment just out side of the front door, but someone else was parked in it for our entire stay. This is just a comment, not a complaint, as there was additional free parking near by which we used instead."

Then the harbour front is seconds away Make sure you go into the Albert street car park stay left and turn into, usually a space outside the apartment can park for free. Go up couple steps and will see Ivy house "

"This location was a great place to stay to explore Orkney. We loved the isolated and peaceful area. Plenty to do and see if you are prepared to drive a few miles. Spectacular cliff top walks with an abundance of bird life. The accommodation has everything you need for a self catering holiday. We stocked up with everything we needed from Tesco in Kirkwall after getting off the ferry. "

"The island and cottage were exactly what we needed. There was peace and quiet, which allowed us to slow down and breathe. The local residents we met were friendly and welcoming. The island needs a little investment but we really hope mass tourism doesn't ruin its tranquility."
