First and foremost, this was my first VRBO experience - and Iā€™m so happy we chose this property with such kind and attentive owners who have picked an incredible property manager. The place is stunning, the beds are comfortable (a key factor for us), and the home is stocked with everything you need. Extra points for the welcome to the home to show us around as well as a call from one of the owners. We appreciated the warmness from everyone. Everything was clean and above expectations. We hope to stay here again.

Lovely stay. All the reviews are accurate and not much more we can add. Truly the place is a private paradise - the outdoor shower and wildlife and the cloud forest just beyond. Those were some of the highlights for us. Easy to contact owners and they had a number of good suggestions of day trips. Highly recommend!

Real Costa Rica local stay

Roads fun , 4 wheel drive not required to get there, but to go most places of adventure would want high clearance or 4 WD , though locals don't. Mountain views stunning weather most days beautiful til 4 or 5 then rain. Pool great , common area phenomenal. All necessary things supplied , very safe , saw parrots and Capuchin monkeys big troupe, iguanas. And you will see lots of types of insects. Mostly outdoors, mosquitoes no issue but we kept spray handy and on. The pictures are real, the town 5 kilometers away but Costa Rica drive times 2 min a kilometer. Lol. Roads paved but two tight lanes and one bridge lane ,shared with pedestrians. Atenas and area jaw dropping and close ,70 to 90 min to beaches really only 35 miles but roads slow. Food great, water all good. Will do again . Perfect for 4 to 6 people.

Magical Place - Just as stunning as the pictures!

Our first trip to Costa Rica, and definitely will not be our last! We're hooked! The house was a joy to stay at, and truly made us feel like we were on vacation. Perfect in every way. It was hard to leave! Where we live in the US, it's impossible to exist without air conditioning, so experiencing this home and the weather in Costa was fantastic. The central location in Atenas really was perfect to experience so many different things. I think I took a picture of every plant possible on the property. We didn't lack for anything while cooking. Sat outside dining al fresco. I was in the pool every moment possible, up until we left. We're 'dog' people, so even getting a little visit from the neighbor's pups was a treat :) Lastly, the information provided by the owners about where to go, what to do, day trips was outstanding!!! Definitely pay attention to their wisdom and recommendations. I can't wait to get back and do more! ...my only input is to follow the links for visits to any of the volcanos, you can't just 'walk in'...you need to pre-purchase entrance tickets and follow the instructions...AND make sure the volcano you want to see is OPEN - Poas was closed due to volcanic activity :( , but that just gives me one more reason to return! I will stay at this perfect home again and again!

Magical Oasis

Stunningly beautiful house and view, safely tucked away in a private gated sanctuary. Set on the edge of a steep ridge line overlooking a valley, that is home to monkeys, birds, iguanas, giant moths and butterflies living in harmony with neighbouring farms set on the impressive slopes around us. All this a short 5 minute drive to town. This home is magical.

Beautiful home!

The house is spectacular, beautifully designed and maintained. All the spaces have a wonderful indoor/outdoor feel. There are flowers and birds everywhere, and there is a very good view of a huge valley and mountain ridge where birds soar and cattle roam in the distance. Highly recommend!

10 Pica Flora is the best property we have ever rented through VRBO. The home is absolutely stunning and beautifully furnished in a simple way. It has a warm and peaceful feel. The outdoor spaces connecting the three buildings are spectacular. We spent a lot of time just enjoying the grounds and the beautiful breezes. And the pool is lovely and very clean. The kitchen is so well stocked with quality cookware and dishes. The beds are so comfortable and the private baths were a luxury. We felt 100% safe at the home and in the town of Atenas. The view from house was just beautiful. We loved having the hills in our backyard and hearing the cows and sheep. Judd's website gives recommendations on wonderful local day trips, we took many of them. Pura Vida is our new motto! We ventured to the Pacific on two of our 7 days, and otherwise stayed close to Atenas and had no regrets. A perfect get-a-way during a New England winter!Judd and Leticia were so responsive to our questions. We enjoyed a wonderful meal prepared by Aaron, highly recommend.

Beautiful Home

The property, its upkeep and condition are as good as it gets for VRBOs. Weā€™ve stayed at many over the years and this was definitely the most stylish. Most of the places we wanted to visit weā€™re farther away than we expected, at least an hour drive, but otherwise everything was great.

Incredible vacation BECAUSE of where we stayed!!!

We've stayed at lots of VRBO sites over the years with our family of five and the communication from the owners and the property caretaker was lights out the BEST we have ever had! From the moment we booked almost a year ago we received travel advice and answers to questions promptly. The home is in a magical setting overlooking the mountains nearby. We were able to take in so many adventures from this central location---we ziplined in La Fortuna, saw the La Fortuna Waterfall and the Arenal Volcano, toured the Doka Coffee Plantation, visited Poas Volcano National Park and La Paz Waterfall Gardens, visited Carara National Park and Punta Leona Beach as well as resting at the house and taking in the peaceful surroundings. We loved all the restaurants that were suggested---empanadas at La Esquina de Los Colonchos, bocas at Pupuseria La Fiesta De Las, Chubasco's near Poas Volcano, and many sodas along the way. We also grocery shopped and found just what we needed. Using Waze was key for comfort on the roads. Leticia came to settle us in to the home AND she even picked up some breakfast groceries for us when our flight arrived in late. Judd and Liz (the homeowners) and Leticia (the property caretaker) made this an incredible family vacation for us!!! If you are thinking of heading to Costa Rica---BOOK this place now!

Love this place

This is our first visit to Costa Rica and wow this place was beautiful and far exceeded our expectations. The hosts were great and we used all of their recommendations for excursions, drivers and taxi. We did not need to rent a car and after experiencing the driving we are so happy we made this decision. I just spent a week for Thanksgiving at this incredible home. It is even more beautiful in person. The house is equipped with everything you need. The management is quick to respond. The owners checked in while I was there to see if I needed anything. Great home and great hosts.

5 friends had a great time!

Wonderful place. Comfortable for 2-3 couples. LOVE the outdoor shower looking over the forest. Absolutely recommend and would heavily consider staying again in the future. Also, check out La Casona Michoacana. Excellent nearby Mexican place!

Peaceful Retreat

Wonderful Family Trip!

Location was a perfect homebase to all the excursions we went to from beach to volcano. Property had all the amenities we needed, space together and separate space for privacy. We took advantage of the amenities offered, chef Aaron and getting a massage from Liz. Leticia the property manager was available and gave of plenty of great information from directions to activities happening in Atenas, and provided us with a wonderful travel agent helping us choose excursions. We were a little disappointed about there not being a hot tub but loved having a pool available after a day of hiking! We loved hanging out on the balcony enjoying the view and animals, except a neighbor's rooster. We had a wonderful time in a beautiful house in a beautiful location!

More Than We Could Have Ever Imagined

Judd/Liz have created a beautiful oasis in Villa Passiflora. Accommodations are exactly as described. The Villa is beautiful and well-appointed with everything needed for a wonderful stay. Not a detail was missed. The grounds are full of surprises with the most beautiful tropical flora. And the viewā€¦ nothing short of spectacular. As well, take time to spot the wildlife. We saw capuchin monkeys, toucans, iguana, hummingbirds, chacalacas, just to name few. Their house manager, was kind, knowledgeable and available if needed. Weā€™ve never encountered a house manager of this caliber. If youā€™re considering booking this property, DO IT. You wonā€™t be disappointed and thatā€™s a promise.

I second what the other reviewers all say and could go on and on. Basically, if this beautiful home piques your interest, just book it. It is an absolute dream. The owners, Judd and Liz, and their house manager, Leticia, are so kind, helpful, and responsive. With their communication and blog, it made planning the entire trip so much easier as well. It's a great location to be able to drive to different points in Costa Rica and see the lay of the land. (We visited San Jose, La Fortuna, and Jaco during our stay.) Bliss... perfection... Just book it. When you arrive, you'll be thrilled that you did!

Stunning Costa Rican retreat

For our second week in Costa Rica, we chose this home in Atenas. The photos do not do it justice- it is such a wonderful and relaxing retreat. The private pool and outdoor shower allowed a connection no nature. Hammock and hanging chairs, lush landscaping, toucansā€¦. Just too much to mention. We will return to this special place. Lizz did massages on the breezeway our last day to the sound of rain and the birds. Communication was excellent.

Absolutely Amazing

This home is absolutely amazing. It is immaculant and well kept and the pictures dont do it justice. One of the owners of the home Judd was absolutely amazing recommending things to do, restaurants, and various activities. The property manager Leticia was exceptional as well. We needed for nothing and any question I asked was returned promply with kindess. I highly recommend this property not only for the splendor that it is...in the mountains with some of the most beautiful and picturesque scenery i have ever seen. My family and i will return and will stay in the exact house again. They made one of my dads bucket list items amazing and I will remember that for the rest of my life. Hats off to such amazing people and the kindness that was giving. You should be proud of your beautiful home and your management team. Job well done.
