The free, county-wide Summit Stage bus connects Dillon with Silverthorne, Frisco, Breckenridge, Keystone, and Copper Mountain — a great no-cost way to reach the resorts and neighboring towns. In winter, an AWD/4WD vehicle with good tires is recommended, and Colorado's Traction Law can require snow tires or chains on I-70 during storms, so allow extra travel time on powder days and weekends.

Elevation: Dillon sits near 9,000 feet. Drink plenty of water, take it easy your first day, and use sunscreen and lip balm — the mountain sun is strong.
