"What a wonderful experience! My wife and I are the current longest reigning residents (12 days). The treehouse was so warm and comfortable, you could tell at every glance the amount of thought that went into building this treehouse. Madeline and Todd were wonderful hosts! The sound of the birds at night was something we would go for again. We had a visit from a couple of beautiful geckos on our last day. We cannot say enough what a great place tucked into the woods. "Very quiet location a short drive from Hilo. Beautiful grounds filled with fruit trees, charming birds, and the coqui frogs will relax you at night. The screened-in lanai is airy with ceiling fans and you will enjoy every spare moment out there or even a nap. Spacious well equipped kitchen and brand new appliances throughout. Many great snorkeling adventures in Hilo make great day trips. Check out the Tuesday night traditional Hawaiian music at the Hilo Town Tavern. "

"Mary was a wonderful host. The cottage was peaceful and exactly what we needed. She met us personally, showed us around her property, and even took time to share her homesteading experience when we expressed interest. She had so many resources available for guests like books, beach equipment, and local recommendations. The location feels beautifully remote, driving through fields past cows and horses to get there; but it’s still not far from anything you’d need. We hope to make it back someday."

"The grounds and the view are great, the cabin has been partially restored. It was a very rustic kitchen set-up, but we made it work. Only real problem were ants. They could find a single grain of sugar anywhere.We named the rooster that hangs around there Hei-Hei. We also had the gecko brothers who kept sneaking into kitchen.The pond has toads in it and they sing at night, counted 6 one night. The water lily bloomed while we were there.The temp on the water heater needs to be turned up a little,...

"Gorgeous view & super friendly hosts. The Treehouse had everything we needed, we felt very welcomed, and would stay again! We were even treated to some local fruit & saw some whale activity! Highly recommend. "

"Positives: Close to activities we were interested in (waterfall hikes, lava tube exploring, horseback tour, etc). Well-appointed with furnishings, kitchen appliances, BBQ utensils, and the like. Did not want for such items! Mostly private setting with orchard behind house. Improvements: Bedroom windows did not lock, but were elevated well above ground level. Not sure if bed linens were laundered recently, but laundry on-site. No outside trash bin. Cell service not great in the immediate area,...
