It was not clear about the additional charges for the spa, or the large range of prices offered depending on time of day. "I have stayed at this hotel over 5 times under 2 different owners. The spa is always impressive however Champneys now charge extra for residents’ access per day. This results in a stampede at 3pm for guests wanting to (rightly) get their money’s worth. It really detracts from the ability to relax. The spa bar area could do with a little TLC: walls marked; carpets covered in crumbs; cobwebs on the ceiling alcoves; plastic champagne flutes!!! The bed was comfortable and the bedroom spacious....

"A lovely hotel and spa. Nice swimming pool, sauna and gym. Good breakfast. Nice friendly staff. Excellent location. My only disappointment was the room was a bit tired and only 2 sockets which were on the opposite wall to the bed. Also the kettle had to sit on the floor because the cable wasn’t long enough to have on the table. Also would have been nice to have some decaf teabags. Small problems really but just observations."

"Historic building full of character, enclosed feel as surrounded by trees, friendly and helpful staff, good food, one nice touch was packed lunch available at no extra cost, even better if more soap etc and more comfortable seats in dining room."

"Bathroom needed updating there was mould and the floor was coming away. The building is old, the whole room shook when people were moving around upstairs."

"Will not be returning, staff not helpful at all, dog friendly but couldn’t even let the dog have a sausage at breakfast as they had ran out, they had also ran out of biscuits for the room, garden peas and orange juice. Not a cheap nights stay so these things should not be running out!! Best staff were the morning we were leaving, had they had been on all weekend it would have made it a more pleasant stay"
