"My original plan was to get a place where I could sit and watch ships go by. This home fit the bill perfectly. I got several pictures of passing ore and cruise ships. Our relatives from Missouri ended up coming along with us and my wife took them to Mackinac Island and we all went to Sault St. Marie on the last day and did a cruise through the locks. The owner of the property goes over and above what we expected and the house was clean and well stocked. There were amenities too many to...

"My family had a great time during our stay. The kids enjoyed the kayaks and boat and fishing off the dock. The one rainy day everyone enjoyed watching movies on the Roku. The extra room in the cabin was so helpful. It’s hard to find a place for 13 people. The owners were super responsive to a clogged drain and bedframe issue. We would stay again if we are back in the area. "

"We really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful home; so much that we added an extra day. Shyra was a great host. Amenities were good and the house was very clean. The bed was comfortable. Everything was made easy, from throwing our kayaks in outside to cooking meals there with plenty of kitchen supplies. We enjoyed hiking, and Esther's Restaurant had great tacos. Our exotic birds were welcome and we enjoyed nature right outside our door. So peaceful and quiet! "

"We had a fantastic stay at the Bear’s Den for Labor Day week/end 2025. The owners have done a wonderful job of making this a fantastic up north getaway in the woods. It was so peaceful and relaxing while also having all you need in terms of modern amenities. There were 7 of us plus a dog and we were all cozy and comfortable. You need to plan around the ferry for coming and going but we thought that added to the adventure and the kids loved it. Highly recommend. My parents already want to come...

"My partner, dog and I came to sugar island to experience a new place in the UP and we will certainly be returning to Sweet Retreat!! Sheri and Jeff were the most accommodating of hosts and truly go above and beyond to ensure everyone’s comfort and fun. We used the bikes on the property and were lucky enough to take a pontoon cruise with the hosts our last night. The cabin was absolutely adorable and had everything we needed. I couldn’t recommend staying here enough! We can’t wait to come back!"

"The setting was excellent. Cabin just feet from Lake Huron. It is like a time capsule going into the cabin. I was reminded of going to such cabin in the 1950’s & 60’s. It was rustic, musty but pleasant. "
