"we were welcomed at reception by a very friendly and helpful staff member who explained everything regarding our bed and breakfast stay. Very interesting old hotel with period features, surprisingly quiet, immaculate room, comfortable bed, plenty of towels and all toiletries. Fantastic service at breakfast with huge choice of food and we also had a fabulous evening meal. Again, I cannot praise all the staff for their attentive service. I will return as soon as i can. We chose the Black Lion as we prefer to stay and eat in establishments that do not allow dogs and there aren't many now ( I know some people would disagree and want to take their dogs everywhere but we all need a place we can feel comfortable in and every other venue in town seems to accept dogs now so dog owners have plenty of...

"Excellent weekend break with really nice spa. Book spa ahead of stay but definitely worth the effort. Inexpensive drinks in bar with great views and really comfortable seating. Great cocktail menu. All in all faultless. Definitely recommend. "
