Private mid-century modern hideaway in forest near the river and sea.

Keep an eye out for elk, wild turkeys and other critters on this 8.5 wooded acres at the end of a country road where there's not another house or car in sight, yet just a short drive to town or beach. Enjoy peaceful privacy in the spacious yard where all you hear are the birds singing and the fog horn in the distance. Lounge on the deck and bbq on the gas grill or roast marshmallows in the fire pit. Watch a movie in the downstairs living area or socialize and entertain on the decadent upstairs level.

Family Wedding

The home was perfect for our large family with four grandkids who came to Crescent City for our daughterā€™s wedding which was not held at the rental but offered a place to get together for meals and to enjoy each otherā€™s company. The kitchen was incredibly stocked with pans, utensils, and appliances well above the normal rental. It is a beautiful property and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there!

Great place!

It was great! Great location, clean, good wifi, great appliances, and comfy furniture. Note each bathroom has just one roll of TP so if you think you'll go more you will have to get it from town, just 6 minutes away. The frisbee golf was fun. Lots of banana slug sightings which we loved. I'd stay here again

Light, airy and spacious! Perfect for our family of 7. Location to the Redwoods and the beaches was wonderful! We spent most of our time hiking in the woods and playing on the sand. Nice tidepools nearby.

Read the description.

The place is in a nice area, but could be better maintained. I donā€™t know how long it had been since the grass was mowed, and my grandson got lost in the weeds. Seriously it was up to his shoulders. Giving him bad allergies. The backyard was awesome, they have a fun frisbee golf, but needed to be mowed. The kitchen needs serious help, organized, and fixed. The drawer that hold your cooking tools falls out on you. Fair warning- NO MICROWAVE, so donā€™t plan on reheating leftover. Whole group not happy about that. You should also invest in non stick pans, the ones there stick really bad. If you advertise that the place can sleep 12, you should have at least 12 towels. We didnā€™t have 12 people, but some family had to shower with beach towels. Bath mats in the bathroom would be nice, and tissues in the bathroom would be nice also. The other thing that would be nice is a table cloth on the table, we tried washing the table off, and it turned my towel dark brown. Also kitchen wash cloths and towels would be nice also.

Awesome location!

This house is located in the perfect location. It's close to everywhere we went, beaches, Redwoods, Smith River, Trees of Mystery, Ocean World. We never had to drive longer than 25 minutes to get to out destinations, and most of the time things were within ten minutes. The house has lots of space. We had nine people and never felt crowded. My only two small complaints would be the lack of a microwave. You get use to having that convivence and when you can't heat up items quickly you miss a microwave. And I wish the yard was mowed before we came so we could have enjoyed the yard more. Despite these two small issues, I would stay here again.

A few things to note:

Love this property but: It does not "sleep 12", unless you add up all of the couches. There are 5 bedrooms all w queen or kings, pairing up w non-couples greatly reduces options. There is no microwave, rice cooker, non-stick pots/pans, or toaster in the kitchen, no soap(s) in the bath/shower, and no extra bedding. Very cool place all said.

We enjoyed the house very much. This morning I did not want to leave because there were numerous Elk in the yard. The upstairs is awesome!! The downstairs would be great for kids. The 2 bedrooms have very small windows and no storage. We feel that the nice couch downstairs should be upstairs where we hung out the most. Also, it would be nice if that sliding door had a screen for added air circulation. If you added a shower to downstairs bathroom, that would be fabulous .The house is in a great location close to town or Jed Smith Redwoods. We would stay in your house again. Very relaxing and peaceful location

Best Vacation

The property was stunning. We enjoyed walking the property and my grandkids had lots of fun on the Frisbee court and running around the yard which was beautiful. We enjoy the beaches that were easily accessible and fun to walk them. The grandkids enjoyed playing in the ocean and making sand castles. Trees and beach getaway

Fantastic house and Lot bordering a beautiful forest. Kids loved playing in the yard and looking for banana slugs. Short drive to empty beaches and conveniences in town. Beds were comfortable, plenty of hot water, and well equipped kitchen. We would stay here again.

Great Location!

There were 6 adults and three kids (ages 8, 5, and 2) in our group. We spent two days in the Redwoods and two days at the beach. We enjoyed Ocean World aquarium, Trees of Mystery, Battery Point Lighthouse, and Stout Grove in Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park. Each activity was a short drive. We all spent a lot of time in the backyard and enjoyed making smores over the fire each evening. The house is spacious and suited our needs nicely. This was such a perfect spot for our family vacation!

Glad We Booked This Property

We stayed here with two families totaling 4 adults and 3 young children (ages 3-6) and loved the property. There was plenty of space for everyone in the home. Plenty of towels and kitchen gear for cooking. The back yard was several acres large and split between cleared (grass) and forest. There are short trails through the forest in the yard and even some smaller redwoods on site. The kids loved exploring the property to see all the critters. We ran into deer, elk, a mole, birds, a skunk, and of course many banana slugs in the yard. There is a cool frisby golf course set up as well with frisbies provided. The pictures included in the posting don't do justice to backyard, I recommend that the owners should add some more pictures to show how large it is. The location was excellent. 10 minutes to everything in Crescent City (food, stores, harbor, beaches, etc) and 5 minutes to the entrance of Jedediah Smith and Del Norte Coast Redwood Parks, 15-25 minutes to the most popular trails. My only suggestion is that the property has no microwave and one should provided. As travelers used to camping in tents, we were able to make due without one. But for travelers away from home and their typical food preparation options, (and with fussy kids) having a microwave makes the experience so much more convenient. I'd stay here again.

Wonderful home! Beautiful property!

Perfect for our large family! The property is very private and perfect for kids to run around and play. The fire pit was fun for s'mores and late nights under the stars. The house is cozy and had everything we needed. We would absolutely stay here again!

4 senior citizen couples thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Home is very clean - beds were great - kitchen had everything we needed as we cooked all of our meals. The property is lovely - very private and so quiet. Signs of elk and deer but never actually saw them. Enjoyed fire pit as well, 2 recommendations: Handrails on front porch for safety and at least add a sink and mirror to downstairs bathroom/laundry room.

Peaceful Getaway

We loved our stay and thoroughly enjoyed the quiet, secluded location of this property. It is still very close to everything you want: 10 minutes to the best tide pool beach we've every been to, and to town, and 15 minutes to Stout Grove in Jedediah Smith State Park, which was our favorite of all the Redwood parks. We had elk walking through the property which was such a fun treat. The only thing we missed was a microwave. When planning your meals, keep in mind that they have a countertop air fryer/toaster oven, but not a microwave. Otherwise we found everything we needed in the kitchen. This was a trip that we would all love to do again!
