Family vacation
This was our first time staying in Carova-make sure your 4x4 is in working order beforehand. Unfortunately our truck couldn’t navigate through the soft sand even though we aired way down to 10 psi. Called Mr. Clipper for assistance and he immediately sent help. We ended up renting a jeep the next day which was actually pretty fun. The house was easy to find on our navigation and Mr. Culpepper actually called us beforehand to let us know we were good to go and check- in a little earlier than expected. We found the house to be very accommodating and clean. The main floor is actually on the top floor, so you get great views. We did see a few horses outside the front door and on the beach. There’s an outside shower that’s really convenient so you can rinse the sand off your feet before going inside. On the tail-end of our stay, we attended a family wedding in Corolla so I was a little nervous driving back on the beach at night. A sea turtle must have laid eggs because they had a group of folks directing traffic with flashing lights so as to not accidentally run over the nest. Very cool to see that!

Great house, nice location, HORSES!!!!
The house was perfect and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. We cooked every morning packed up, went to the beach came home spent some time in the hot tub and then repeats for all the days that we were there. The very first day that we were there, we saw a wild horse grazing on the front yard. It was funny because he tapped the garbage can as he was walking away.

Second time staying here and planning on coming more
We enjoyed our second stay at Vicky and Blake’s house for our summer vacation. It was cozy, clean, and felt like we were at home. Kitchen and rooms had everything that we needed for our stay, and everything was in good condition. Plenty of board games to bring family together. Views from decks on both sides of the house were memorable. The house offers a lot of privacy, away from too many people. Blake was available to answer our questions in a timely manner, and even gave us heads up about NASA rocket launch that was taking place that week - took many nice photos and videos of the rocket flying through the night sky. We all were sad to leave this place, and planning on staying at this house again in the future.

Wow! What an amazing place!
No words to describe how beautiful it is here! The house is immaculate! Everything you need and more to enjoy the vacation. Owners were great and very helpful! Wish we could have stayed longer. Such a fun adventure!

Exactly What We Needed
Quiet, remote, away from the stereotypical touristy stuff, 2 blocks from the beach, a great location to decompress and recharge. We are thankful for having the opportunity to stay at this house as it met all our needs. We'd definitely consider staying here again in the future.

Secluded property
This place is great and clean. However, you need a Jeep or something with high clearance and not just AWD. The road to the property is 10 miles on a beach with very deep sand at times. You need to be very comfortable driving in loose sand. Our vehicle was 4WD but the clearance was not great and we got stuck a few times, but were able to dig out. However, it made future trips into town a bit stressful. The owners did warn about the need for a 4WD, I just didn't think it would be as deep and far as it was in reality. The property is great once you arrive.

Perfect, Quiet Beach House
Second time staying at Vicky and Blake’s house. We love it. Horizon views are great for sunrises. Had horses in the yard. Perfect place to get away from your fellow humans! Highly recommend!

A gem
This Was the best vacation ever! The house was beautiful! The location was perfect! Time together as a family, priceless! Blake and Vickie were great hosts! Already told them we plan on making their house our vacation spot for next year. If you are looking for a relaxing spot away from the hustle and bustle of the OBX tourism, this location is for you. You will not be disappointed.

Great stay at 4x4 beach
Highly recommend this house! This was our first time staying at the 4x4 beach and it was a great location for it. The house is beautiful with lots of natural light, great views, and nice, open kitchen on the top floor. It is very close to the beach and is further north on the beach so it gets you away from some of the more populated areas. My toddler loved seeing wild horses every day. Blake and Vicky were great hosts and always replied straight away to our messages.

Perfect retreat!
Vicky and Blake were wonderful hosts and have the perfect nature retreat on Carova. House was just as described and they were very responsive. This home is tucked away in a private location with gorgeous sandy roads and peaceful surroundings. Drive to the beach and easily unload right from your Jeep or truck all while admiring the wild horses! We’d love to come back!

4x4 Family Fun!
House is positioned so you watch the sun rise with your coffee and sunset as you relax in the living room. The 4x4 beach ride was an adventure! You can meander through an enchanted beach forest and be greeted by the occasional horse. The house is spacious with open concept kitchen/LR on the top floor, bedroom on the 2nd, then open garage. Blake greeted us on arrival and was quick to answer questions. First time at OBX. We will be back!

Get-Away Privacy
This house was perfect for our 4 adults and 2 kids! Loved the views, sunsets, upper deck, privacy . . . the kitchen was awesome with EVERYTHING one would need for cooking. The whole layout of the house worked well. The adult kids said the mattress in the second bedroom rolled to the middle but, other than that we appreciated all the bedding that was provided. We were able to see the horses, deer, dolphins, and many sea birds. This was our first visit to OBX and with 4x4 beach life. A few words of advice for others ... we had one vehicle with 4 wheel drive and one without . . . would not recommend driving the beach without 4 x 4 !! It was an experience - we made some memories we're sure to remember! Be sure to find a pull-off area to deflate your tires before you reach the beach. Also, if you are planning to do sight seeing (in the island towns) remember to allow 30-40 minutes to traverse the beach drive to the paved road and then remember you have to inflate your tires for road travel. There is a free air filling lot a short distance from the beach. And, don't forget to factor in the tide! Something those of us from the North are not familiar with . . . We did love this place and next time we are looking for a place to just "be" this would be perfect!

Feels like an OBX oasis
The house is more beautiful in person than it is in pictures! The porch provides opportunity to be surrounded by nature without leaving the home. Takes about ten minutes to walk to the beach leisurely. Hot tub was functioning well, which not all hosts keep hot tubs maintained in rentals, so we appreciated that! Blake was personable while also respecting our privacy. Driving with a 4x4 car was easy peasy once we got used to it. I would definitely book this place again! Thank you, Blake!

Can’t wait for our next stay!
HIGHLY recommend this 3 bedroom/2.5 bath house if you are ever wanting to rent in Carova Beach … but you MUST have 4X4 to get to it. It’s only about 5 years old, beautiful, super clean, they have EVERY kitchen appliance, utensil, beach chairs, toys, extra fridges, etc. … and the owners are amazing (even towed out our Papa and Auntie when they got stuck b/c they didn’t have 4 wheel drive). They answer any question almost immediately and are almost always available

Incredible getaway from the hustle and bustle
The owners were amazing and answered any and all questions we had very promptly. This property was a joy. We hadn’t stayed in a 4x4 beach house in OBX yet and now we’re hooked. The house was fully on the sand with no paved roads around. Not AWD, true 4x4 required to get to the beach house. Even though the beach access road can be navigated with AWD, from there to the house you probably wouldn’t make it. This made it more exciting for us and added to the charm. The views were spectacular. Sunset from the front balcony, sunrise from the back balcony and master bedroom window. Simply perfect. We loved the well-stocked kitchen, open floor plan, and all the little extras that are perfect for a warmer stay. Although we had our getaway in cold weather, we thoroughly enjoyed the views, the quiet, the hot tub, and our exploration of local flavor and the 4x4 neighborhood we were in. Just parking in front of the beach and taking in the view with practically no one on the beach was so enjoyable. This was a wonderful property and would work well with up to 4 adults and 2 children. I would definitely come back to this one and is probably one of my favorite rental properties so far.

Relaxing vacation with so many extras!
We had such a relaxing stay. The hosts provided books, beach toys, games and every cooking item you would need! My four year old had a blast playing connect 4 and doing all the puzzles. We did not leave the house except for a few hours to drive around and go to the beach. We will come back again for sure!

Girls weekend
This house is WONDERFUL!! We were a bit apprehensive about driving on the sand, but it was a piece of cake so don't let that deter you from staying here. The kitchen is well stocked and the beds are comfortable. Lounging on the back deck is an option if you don't feel like making the short walk to the beach.

Absolutely Perfect Place and Wonderful Owners
The house and location are amazing but by far the best part of this place is its owners, Blake and Vicky. We've stayed in the 4x4 area of OBX many times. The property is just perfect ... location is nicely secluded and quiet but still provides nice views of the ocean from the back deck. The home has everything you need, is spotlessly clean and well-maintained, and has plenty of amenities to keep everyone entertained in good weather and bad. They've thought of everything. Blake went well out of his way in helping us with a car problem we had while we were in town ... he referred us to a great mechanic and made sure what could have been a major problem didn't negatively impact our getaway weekend. He's a guy that truly cares about others. Thanks Blake and Vicky for sharing your home.

Just what we needed
The house was beautiful and clean. The hosts were amazing! The property was the perfect place to get away from it all, but had all the modern conveniences. Closest store is 30-40 min drive on the beach. We were okay with that. Got all we needed before heading in. The 4WD beach was a blast for my sons Jeep. The Ford Escape got there but not as easily. The kitchen had everything for cooking meals. The windows and decks were my fave. Beds were great. We would definitely go back. Horses made their appearance. Absolutely loved this property!!

Excellent Property for a quiet getaway!
Lovely house that was just right for our family of 6. Great sunrises and sunsets. Easy access to the beach with our Land Cruiser and to the bay side. The option of kayaks was a wonderful feature. Blake and Vicky were excellent hosts and very responsive. Blake went above and beyond on one occasion and we were very grateful. We would recommend this home to anyone!

October weekend stay
Our stay was comfortable and relaxing at Culpepper Cattle Co. We absolutely loved being tucked away amongst the trees, while still just being a few minute drive to the beach. The house was spacious and entertaining for the whole family. Great place!

Love this Place!
First, Vicky and Blake are great hosts! The house is not first row. But you would never know it, terrific views from the rear deck and kitchen window. Mid-September sunrises were perfect, right between those houses that people are paying out the butt for. All the comforts you would expect are here. Great high top dining room table. Beds are really comfy. Couch is really comfy. Great kitchen, everything you need! Drive by traffic? What drive by traffic! Hot tub! Horses!

Piece of Paradise
We stayed in Carova Beach for a girls trip and absolutely fell in love with it. The house is in n area where alot of wild horses roam- we saw them everyday we were there! The house was very clean and spacious enough that we could spread out a bit. We loved both the front and back decks and appreciated the hottub after a dip in the ocean. We were a bit confused about how and where to air down our tires, but after we did it the first time, it was no big deal. Driving on the beach was one of our favorite parts of the trip! The last day we saw pods of dolphins swimming near the shore on our drive out! So beautiful!

Incredible Experience
Blake and Vicki were awesome to communicate with. Their property did not disappoint. We were able to experience seeing the wild horses along with a pod of dolphins twice. The house is close enough to the beach to walk or drive. The beach was amazing. We went on multiple walks a day to enjoy the wildlife. It was a wonderful place to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary and we hope to return!

Great Getaway Place
This place is a great getaway spot! Secluded with lots of privacy but just a short drive or walk to the beach. House is fantastic. Comfortable and very modern and updated. Downstairs garage has sink, fridge, microwave and TV. With the charcoal grill and hot tub just outside it made for a lot of fun cooking out. Owners greeted us at check in and were super cool. All in all we were extremely pleased and would definitely stay ther3e again.

Amazing Property!!
This is the nicest place and experience we could have asked for. The pictures truly don’t give this property what it deserves! Sitting on 3rd floor deck was like being in a treehouse with views of the ocean. We saw horses first day and multiple times after. The wildlife is so amazing being in a preserve we just loved it! Drove to beach every day but also walked there in the evening every day for seashells. The drive on beach is long but worth it. Have to have 4x4 for sure. Make sure if walking to the beach you go left out of the driveway way easier walk for sure. Blake and Vicki were so amazing to work with and we’re already thinking about booking again for next year. This place is truly an adventure and make sure you stock up so you don’t have to drive back into Corolla if you can help it…if it wasn’t for kids my wife and I wouldn’t have left all week. Highly recommend!

The house is very nice. It had everything we needed. It is an hour drive on the beach so make sure you have all your supplies. Use the air down spot on the paved road because you can’t stop once o.my the beach.

Great Stay!
Blake and Vicky couldn't have been nicer from their thoughtful accommodation, to check in, check out and follow up to return an electronic device we left behind. The house is so clean and comfortable, we were able to truly relax and enjoy the beach and remote surroundings. We can't wait to return!

Family Vacation
This was a much needed vacation after stress of bring essentials covid workers. This property was AMAZING and relaxing!! We got to see wild horses, dolphins everyday, deer, stingrays, lots of fishing and endless beach relaxing!! If you need a vacation getaway away from the normal speed of life this is the place for you!!!

Relaxing beach vacation
My wife and I loved our first time on the outer banks in Corolla. It checked everything off our list, and more. The house was in great condition, close to the beach, and it was so cool to see the wild horses even in the yard. This is the perfect place to get away from it all and spend time on the beach all day. We will be back.

Moms Get-Away Paradise!
This home was perfect for six moms ready for a break from virtual school & teenage attitudes. It was also an adventure for a bunch a capable women to “air down” and drive 10 miles of beach to reach the property. There was plenty of bathroom space and we had two people to each bedroom. The kitchen was spacious and well thought out. The views were amazing! There were even horses in the yard one of the evenings we were there. If I had one complaint, it would be the table that’s used for the dining room area. It is uneven and everything leans to the middle. It’s large, so that’s a plus, but it’s almost unusable. The owners were a dream to work with. We hope to go back again. What a vacation!!
