Overall we had an enjoyable 10-day stay as both the location and the main house was great for my family and the host Alexandre was accommodating with some extra requests including renting out the guesthouse for an extra person.That said, we had a few issues to deal with as we were the first guests of the season. Hot water was not available the 1st day and the internet was not available for the initial 4-days ("w/ WIFI" is prominent in the listing). Most challenging though is the guest house we rented for a significant amount was not at all ready, with hot water not available at all after the 1st day, a leaking toilet, and constant insect spray smell (along with plenty of ants). The host seemed to try to rectify but would not consider any partial compensation for these issues.The host will counter that we left the house untidy, but his follow-up complaints were extreme/nitpicky for all the extra substantial fees that must be paid separately up front (cleaning, linens, towels, electricity, etc).The simple fact is the main hot water & internet issues are not something any renters should accept just because they are first. The host should have a team maintaining the property or build in more time to prepare. His attitude that we should feel grateful for his accommodations & attempts to rectify mid-stay left a bad feeling after an otherwise good stay.Also, the wild ducks are a daily nuisance in keeping the pool clean from duck poop!
