The room was as expected - I have stayed in the past and had a warm connection with the proprietors, a couple who made my stays pleasant.
The issue that I had with the Budget Inn Motel was that the current managers/proprietors were woefully ignorant about the federal regulations regarding Registered Service Animals.
After paying, after having received my room key, I mentioned that I planned to stay again at The Budget Inn Motel, soon, for 6 months, while working at a nearby facility, and would be bringing my service dog with me. The front office manager started shouting, "We are not a pet familiy, there are no pets allowed here."
I started explain that a legitimate Registered Service Animal must be allowed in all public spaces whereupon another man appeared (the first man's brother?), and they became so loud and agitated, waving their arms while approaching me, that I felt threatened and called 911 (I have never called 911 on anyone before).
While awaiting the arrival of the Corcoran Police Department Officer, I noticed that one of the brothers had scurried out of the front office to lock the door to the room for which I had just paid. The 2 men told me to get out of front office, and off the property, and informed me that I would not be allowed to stay the night.
Eventually, the Sergeant arrived from CPD, and the 2 men were persuaded to allow me to spend the night.
Could someone from the ADA please go pay this motel a visit?
