\"Family & Friends Retreat\" is a spacious apartment located in a quiet hilly area of Como. This apartment is just a few minutes\' drive from the city centre and is furnished in a modern style to make it functional and comfortable. It also features a furnished terrace with views of the city and the surrounding hills, where you can enjoy your meals or sip on an aperitif at sunset.

This apartment can accommodate up to 4 people. There are two bedrooms, one with a double bed - equipped with a spacious walk-in closet, and one with two single beds, a living area with a fully equipped kitchen and a living room, and two bathrooms, one with a shower and one with a whirlpool bathtub and a washing machine. Furthermore, all rooms have air conditioning and free wi-wi is available for guests.

NEIGHBORHOOD

The city centre of Como, which can be reached in a few minutes by car and in about 15 minutes on foot, hosts many historical landmarks, including the Gothic cathedral dating back to the fourteenth century, and the Broletto, a medieval town hall. The lakeside promenade is ideal for strolls, jogging, or cycling and offers a magnificent view of the lake and the surrounding mountains.



GETTING AROUND

Como Borghi train station is conveniently located for guests arriving from Milan Cadorna station or Milan Malpensa airport. Once you arrive at the station, it is advisable to take a taxi, which will take you to the property in few minutes, avoiding some uphill walking with your luggage. From Como San Giovanni train station (the other major station in the city), there are regular trains to Milan and Switzerland (Lugano, Bellinzona, Locarno).

In the city of Como and nearby towns, ASF Autolinee buses are in operation - the bus station is just one minute on foot from the flat. Tickets can be obtained from the driver (cash only) or in designated places (the main bus station in Piazza Matteotti, bars, and tobacco stores).

From the pier in central Como, a local ferry service will take you to Cernobbio, Torno, Bellagio, Varenna, Colico, and other lakeside towns. Please note – if traveling in high season, we advise you to be patient with long waiting lines at the ticket office. Tickets can also be bought online on the Navigazione Laghi website.

The nearest airports are Milano Malpensa, Milano Linate, and Orio Al Serio in Bergamo. It is possible to arrange a direct shuttle to and from the airport at an additional cost.

TIPS

>We advise you to take a day to visit the marvelous little towns around the lake. Como city is the urban center of the area, but the little towns are gems with glorious lakeside villas.

>To travel and walk around Lake Como, especially in the little towns, comfortable shoes are a must.

>There are many public drinking-water fountains in the area, and the water is safe to drink unless stated otherwise. Tap water is also drinkable. You can carry your own refillable bottle!

>If you are looking for a relatively easy hike in the area and want to enjoy mountain views anyway, Lake Como Greenway is a wonderful, easy-to-follow trail that connects the lakeside towns from Colonno to Griante and doesn\'t require too much walking uphill. A bus can take you from Como to the starting point in Colonno.

>Look for traditional restaurants where you can try local foods such as Lake Como fish dishes.

>In Italy, many shops (especially the little ones) and services are closed in the middle of the day, so be careful to plan your shopping accordingly.

>Lake Como is one of the deepest lakes in Europe and the deepest in Italy. Swimming and diving are prohibited in many areas and can be dangerous. For those who wish to dwell in the water, however, there are some options. In Como city, there is an outdoor pool near Villa Olmo, but generally swimming in the lake is prohibited in many areas. There are beaches in other lakeside towns.

Lido di Bellagio and pebbly San Giovanni beach will be waiting for those who wish to travel and explore the beautiful town of Bellagio which lies in the middle of the two Larian branches. Locals and visitors also enjoy traveling to Nesso where the bravest swimmers can jump into the lake from the ancient Roman bridge near the waterfall.

>Lake Como is located in a mountainous region. The surrounding pre-Alps might not seem very high, but the climate is nevertheless affected by the nearby mountains, and temperatures can change quickly. Be particularly attentive to the weather when hiking, and bring some warm and waterproof clothes with you!
