My husband and I enjoyed our spring break vacation in this spectacular home in the heart of Ojochal. The pictures do not do the home or the remarkable natural splendor that surrounds the property justice! Though the home can accommodate a group of 15 and would be fabulous for a family vacation, we enjoyed having the entire space to ourselves. The remote location is designed for privacy and comfort and is perfect for some peace and quiet or a little romance if that's what you're looking for.
The house is well-maintained and fully equipped with all modern conveniences. We took advantage of being in the jungle, but thoroughly enjoyed the amenities of home, such as WiFi and air conditioning. The tempurpedic beds were extraordinarily comfortable, and we awoke well-rested to the delightful call of the wild in the mornings - no need for an alarm clock. My husband is a chef, so we thoroughly enjoyed how organized and well-equipped the kitchen was. We ate an amazing breakfast and enjoyed pool time each morning, then headed out to one of the lovely restaurants in the area for lunch, did a bit of shopping and basked in the sun on a different beach each afternoon.
While the property makes you feel "away from it all," the main highway is a 5 minute drive down the mountain and is not much further to an array of great restaurants, convenient shopping and beautiful beaches. While you can't go wrong with any of the beaches, Playa Ventanas and its caves are a must! Enjoy some pastries at the local French bakery, spend a few hours at the Restaurante Tilapias el Pavon and swim in its nearby waterfall, and/or watch a sunset (with drink in hand) at Azul, located at the El Castillo Hotel. No matter where you are, the sunsets are glorious! We spent many nights in awe of the incredible 360 degree view of the stars from the back deck. With the city's minimal lighting, it is truly a breathtaking sight.
The owner and property manager are hospitable without being intrusive, and they are perfectly in sync to the needs and desires of guests who rent the home. In fact, we only saw one person at the home our entire stay, and he came to service the pool.
Ultimately, it truly is a magnificent home away from home. After our departure, we were overcome with homesickness for our new paradise. Beware: staying here is a conversion experience. We will certainly return - just not soon enough! Thank you, Angie, for sharing your lovely casa! Pura Vida!
