From the cottage, let yourself be amazed by the Mayenne River. Starting with Château-Gontier-sur-Mayenne, a town renowned for the quality of its public gardens (a town that originated from the flowered towns and villages), the Refuge de l'Arche, an animal park specializing in wildlife, the water ski resort on the Mayenne, and the marina and Canotika, where you can rent boats or bicycles to explore the locks on the Mayenne and the towpath, known as Vélo Francette. Château-Gontier also boasts a national cultural scene, the Carré, at the Ursulines Cultural Center. It hosts notable festivals such as the V&B Fest and the Comic Strip Festival.
Mayenne is also a horse racing region: the Craon, Lion d'Angers, Meslay-du-Maine, and Laval races. There are 11 racetracks in total in the region. Art lovers, visit the Musée d'art naïf de Laval (MANA), a tribute to Douanier Rousseau, and the Robert Tatin Museum in Cossé-le-Vivien... as well as the temporary exhibitions held in the gardens of the castles and manors of Mayenne.

At the exit of Château-Gontier, from the roundabout of the National Gendarmerie, Avenue Eric Tabarly, go 600 meters and turn right. Go 50 meters and take the road La Poupinière on your right. Follow this small road for 650m, then turn right: a tree-lined path takes you to Plessis: private entrance to the gîte.
