Tranquil. Great views. Relaxing. A heavenly piece of the country with views you won't believe until you drive onto the property. 10 minutes from Downtown Charlottesville and Trump Winery. Neighbor's to the Clifton Inn. Want to visit Carter's Mountain to view the fall foliage or pick apples? That will take you 5 minutes as will Thomas Jefferson's Monticello. It's just minutes away from many of your favorite things that Charlottesville has to offer but in a very private, peaceful setting. We like to call it our "hidden gem." This studio apartment sits on a 5-acre parcel that once was included in the adjacent 64-acre farm. This barn studio sits about 100 yards from our main house and houses our newest ā€œsisterā€ studio as well, the Milton View, by way of a new addition that sits on the other side. It's a great place to enjoy a summer sunset from your own balcony, or just hang out and breathe the fresh country air after a long day of visiting local wineries. This loft studio consists of a king bed that has a nice foam topper. Enjoy a nice hot shower in the walk-in tiled shower. There also is a kitchen complete with coffee maker, stove, refrigerator/freezer.

I love to decorate so Iā€™m particularly grateful to do so in this barn studio. I want my guests to feel like they are in a home not in a hotel room. I carefully hand pick and oftentimes paint my own furniture finds. The balcony is a great place for morning coffee (I grind my local favorite Greenberryā€™s coffee beans for guests to enjoy prior to each arrival) breathing in the fresh air and taking in the Mountain Viewā€™s. We have a fire pit (wood, kindling, blankets and lighter provided) and a pool up near our main house for our guests to enjoy. (Please let us know if youā€™d like to use the pool after 6:30 pm as we like to swim laps around that time so we can adjyst.) There is another guesthouse on the property and all guests have access to the pool. Pool is seasonal.

You understand that swimming in the pool is at your own risk and that special risks may be involved with swimming. You accept full responsibility for any bodily harm arising from swimming and hold the owner harmless. You agree to use only plastic cups (provided) when drinking liquid in the pool area.
You agree to be fully and solely responsible for any accidents you may incur. You understand the risk discussed above and agree that you will assume all responsibility. You agree to waive any claim whatsoever against the owner for accidents or claims arising from swimming, In booking this vrbo all guests agree to thus Liability Waiver.


I like to give my guests as much privacy as possible during their stay. But they can always access me via text as I respond quickly to ensure their needs are met.

Near Monticello. There are great views! The unit is clean and comfortable. If you on the tall side, be careful of the sloped ceilings. The bed was comfortable. The shower was also nice.

A perfect weekend

Property is exactly as described and the loft was beautifully decorated. We stayed for a mother/daughter weekend and had the best time. Hanging out on the balcony watching the sun rise over the mountains while we sipped coffee and watched deer grazing was pure perfection. We are already planning our next visit.

Cozy getaway for 2 with a scenic view. Spotless and very well designed. Comfortable bed and very nice large screen tv. The deck was perfect for a romantic drink under the stars. Our host did an exceptional job to make us feel welcomed. This was our 2nd stay with many more to come.

Fall Leaves and Quiet Stay

This property was perfect for a weekend getaway. The owners are super responsive and the house was well stocked and clean upon arrival. The home was close enough to town, but in the country. Perfect fall rest and recharge retreat. If in the area again, we will be back.

Away from Home? Don't Worry!

The Hidden Gem was excellent, very convenient to downtown Charlottesville and the surrounding attractions. Clean, quiet, perfect for a party of two. This place has all the amenities one would need when staying away from home without the "hotel" vibe. The Hidden Gem will definitely be at the top of my list to book again.

Once a hidden gemā€¦ now a found one

We couldnā€™t have pictured a more perfect stay! This property is perfect for a couple looking to get away in the quaintness and beauty of Virginia. The property overlooked a gorgeous farm and mountain view and was the perfect amount of space for us. A cute little kitchen downstairs. We only used it to refrigerate food, but there were appliances and amenities for cooking if you wanted to. Upstairs was a studio room with an adorable farm house feel. The view from the upstairs balcony was beautiful. Trish was easily accessible from our inquiries prior to booking to the second we left. They were very thoughtful when stocking the property- including water bottles in the refrigerator, fresh ground coffee that was locally sourced, a chalkboard in the kitchen, with suggestions and recommendations for things to do and places to go, little things for the bathroom that you might forget to bring and even little games to play. Many of the wineries and breweries were within a 20 minute drive. It was really a wonderful weekend trip!

Our stay was perfect. Place was well equipped with everything you need, very clean, comfortable and fresh. Great views from balcony. Trish was very sweet and accommodating. Gave us privacy but let us know she was there if needed. Close to downtown Charlotteville and easy to find. 10 out of 10!

This studio apartment was just right for our visit to Charlottesville. It was close to Monticello, many local wineries and downtown. It is not conducive to inhouse cooking of main meals but there is a stove and refrig. Trish was an awesome hostess and was very quick responding to my queries.

Amazing location for respite and exploring!

This was an incredible experience as I stayed for 2 weeks while my daughter was at a local camp. The property is absolutely gorgeous and private country feel. Trish had wonderful recommendations for things to do and places to eat. The "apartment" was very clean and well stocked for cooking and living for the 2 weeks. Would also be a wonderful weekend getaway. It was close to many historical sites, wineries and surrounding small cities, yet far enough away for more private surroundings. Love this place and I'll be back!!

Spacious, lovely unit for visiting Cville

We highly enjoyed our stay at this unit, which is located in a beautiful, scenic part of Charlottesville about 6-7 miles east of downtown. Trish, the owner, has done a beautiful job of decorating and furnishing the place, which is located in a spacious carriage house on her large, very nice property. We enjoyed the amenities and nice touches throughout the unit, including fresh towels and toiletries, drinks in the fridge, and a small porch to relax. Trish was responsive and welcoming without being intrusive. We highly recommend this place for anyone seeking to visit Charlottesville and it surroundings.
