"The house was exactly how the pictures showed !Cute and cozy ,and clean ! Im a country girl and felt at home sitting on the porch,enjoying the breeze. The sound of the ocean was a bonus!! "My sister and I have always wanted to visit Smith Island. This house was perfect! Well appointed, comfortable, great location and terrific host. The golf cart was such a huge bonus. We had amazing water tours, walked, relaxed, spotted more birds than we could count. Everyone on the island was beyond friendly. Just had a wonderful time which was amplified by the great accommodations! "

"Took my grandson for a weekend trip to Smith Island to celebrate his HS graduation. My daughter, also, accompanied us, since I am a 90 year old "Grammy", and need some assistance. Our cottage was clean, comfortable and had all of our needs. The host, Kim, was extremely attentive, and made our dinner the night we arrived so we could just relax. I would highly recommend Idle Hour as the place to stay on Smith Island. Pat Reynolds, Ellicott City, MD"

"Smith Island is remote, isolated, and a 45 minute ferry trip from Crisfield on lower Maryland's Eastern Shore.The house was recently renovated. It is very well furnished and equipt. Chris has a detailed handbook about what to expect on the island with names and phone numbers for residents who can provide services and give tours including the listing for the ferry boats. "We had a lovely time on this trip. The house is spacious and the yard/location is great. The kitchen needed a few more things that we could have used but overall we would definitely return. There are no stores nearby so buy everything you need before arriving. You will not regret coming to this house. We made a lot of memories and enjoyed every minute. The host was very attentive and helpful."

"What a wonderful stay we had! The house was so comfortable with plenty of space for everyone to relax and enjoy each other's company. We enjoyed the brisk mornings on the porch and the gorgeous sunsets in the evenings. Very comfortable beds and linens. The scenery and landscape in the area are breathtaking. Every turn provided another incredible view of the water. Fishing Creek is close to so many beautiful, quaint towns along the Chesapeake Bay. Highly recommend!"

"Quiet street with a water view. Minutes to the beach. Fully equipped kitchen. Comfy beds, nicely stocked baths. We were there during a nasty heatwave and the AC served us very well. Outside space is awesome with a really cool screen room. I give it 10 out of 10 and would love to return. Also amazing hosts!"

"Host was communicative and available for any questions. This place was what we needed, two people and a dog that is relatively barky. The seclusion is what we were looking for and we got it. "Our stay was amazing. The cabin was exactly as described. 9 family member stayed at the cabin comfortably. The view of the lake was breathtaking, the property was quiet and inviting with plenty of space for celebrating. We came to attend the Crab and Cruise experience which was a short drive from tge property. The surrounding city was quaint and friendly."
