Great Setup
Great place to stay while visiting Cashiers and Highlands. Good location, clean property, easy check-in/out. Communication with Matt was a breeze. We would definitely recommend to others.

Great location
Loved the location and hiking trails. Bunkhouse was perfect for teens! Main cabin bedroom had hard foam mattress, otherwise fantastic rental! Everything was well stocked as well!! Can’t wait to go back!!

NC fall family vacation
GREAT PLACE FOR FAMILIES! Good communication with property manager. Space to spread out; nightly campfires; well-equipped kitchen; and minutes from beautiful hikes and waterfalls. Be prepared for minimum electronic connectivity...also a good thing!!

Amazing fall getaway
Our stay was wonderful! The cabins were perfect for our two families. The kids enjoyed fishing in the pond, playing in the bunkhouse and lounging in some hammocks. The adults enjoyed sitting around the fire pit chatting, relaxing and listening to music. We absolutely loved exploring the private trails and waterfalls, and taking a cold plunge in the water. The proximity to Cashiers and Highlands is great and we explored and hung out in town, too (even saw a bear in town!). Working with the cabin owner and property manager was easy as they were very thorough and sent updates often. A great trip was had by all!

A++ for Families or Groups
WOW! Where do I start. They say it's not what you do that people remember but, it is how you make them feel. Tim was outstanding at making us feel welcome & that our vacation was worry free and ready for us. We rented Unicorn for my husband's surprise 50th birthday celebration as it fit our needs of a place large enough for 3 families and pets. We needed something with at least 2 separate buildings which is hard to find. Unicorn exceeded what we were looking for with 3 buildings (2 cabins & a bunkhouse). The main cabin was great with it's downstairs location with a private entrance. The kids absolutely LOVED the bunkhouse as it gave them a place to let them make their own memories (I can only imagine how the stories will ultimately end up) and the Lovers Retreat was perfect for our couple with no kids . The cabin's details gave it a warm feel unlike some of the cookie cutter cabins we have rented in the past. The cabins were clean and stocked with everything we needed, including maps of hiking trails & things to do in the area. Tim was even available via text to answer questions and help us with directions to one of the trails we wanted to go to. We spent the mornings drinking coffee on the deck, the days exploring trails and Cashiers, & nights by the fire telling stories and laughing until we cried...PERFECTION! We ventured to hike "The Loop" on our first day and had a blast. Some of our party chose a calmer, relaxing hike (you do have to cross a shallow river so plan to have waterproof shoes if you don't want to venture across barefoot..the water was COLD) while a few of us chose to take on the steep path. The 4 oldest kids and two of us adults had a blast traversing down the steep trail, with the help of ropes, to the amazing waterfall. The private waterfall area was amazing!! There was a small sand island where we made a sandcastle (mountain version) and a huge rock formation that the kids loved climbing on and jumping in the water (warning, the water is COLD in April). The two separate fire pits were great. The first one, off the back of the main cabin, was a great place to relax, drink some wine and play games. The second one, in the front of the property by the pond was far enough from the cabins to provide the perfect spot for ghost stories and smore's. I could go on and on about this special place but, instead I will just say that you should go yourself and make memories of your own as you won't be disappointed.

We celebrated the Feasts of Passover and Unleavened Bread
The property was comfortable and private. We had a few families which celebrated the Scriptural Holy Days found in Leviticus 23 and had a great time! We grilled with the downstairs BBQ Pit and had Scripture Study lessons by the pond and throughout the cabins and also around the fire pit. Everyone had a blast and had expressed much gratitude for the property location and it's cozy homelike atmosphere. We definitely recommend staying and implore guests to hike (mild walk,) down to the local water fall trail which is located a short distance passed the cabin. Shalom

Great for Families
With the 3 available cabins our multi-generational group was able to sleep and gather comfortably, and we really enjoyed the fishing, and the creek and fields to play in! Very close to lots of great hikes, and to the town of Cashiers.

Great place to unplug!
The check-in process was hassle free and the directions to the house were on point. The house was clean and the kitchen was stocked with all the basics. While we were there we utilized all three accommodations. The Lovers Retreat was perfect for a couple with a full / queen sized bed nice sitting room, kitchen and bathroom. The kids cabin had another full sized bed, 2 couches, a bean bag that was big enough for sleeping and a loft area with several mattresses. There is no bathroom in this cabin, but a portable bathroom outside that we did not use. Finally, the main cabin has 2 separate units. Downstairs had a kitchen, full / queen sized bed and a couch along with a loft mattress accessed by a cute climbing wall. The upper floors are not connected to the lower cabin, so you must walk up the porch steps to the main house with has 2 bedrooms, a kitchen and a sitting area. When we were there, the weather was cold, so we didn’t use the beautiful front porch, but it would be perfect for the summer. My only comment is that in inclement weather, there is no one area that is big enough for a large group to gather. We used the main cabin for this, but with 11 people, it was cramped. The patio would have been perfect for this, but it was cold and rainy. All in all a great get-away.

Wonderful getaway
We had an excellent stay. Our group consisted of four families, with kids ranging from 7 to 10 years old. The kids had so much fun running around in a pack, playing games on the beautiful lawn, fishing in the pond, and exploring in the woods. The bunk house, complete with a loft, Galiga, and TV with DVD and games added to the magic of this place for our kids. They had such a blast. The adults of the group enjoyed the wonderful decks and fire pit area where we hung out together - such a fun and relaxing property. Having a separate bathroom for each bedroom and having multiple living spaces available, made sharing the property among four families very easy. Probably the most special aspect of this property is the beautiful waterfall and swimming hole that guests can hike to from the cabins. Having a place like that to ourselves was just so cool and memorable. The location of the cabins is fantastic. It is a very easy and short drive from Cashiers, and central to many of the well known hiking spots in the region. Tim was the the absolute best host. He was easy to communicate with, very personable and helpful, and made some great recommendations for food and hiking in the area. I highly recommend renting this property.

Fantastic place for friends & kids!
This property has a lot of great features for everyone to enjoy. Our kids loved fishing in the pond - smaller than the pictures look online, but it was great. Also, the 1.5m hike through the woods to the waterfall swimming spot is incredible. Its not easy to walk from the house. You need to drive down to the actual spot where the trail begins, since it's not on the actual property of the main house. Plan to use backpacks and pack what you need to stay at the waterfall for awhile because it's a 40 min hike to get there. It's definitely worth it! We had a lot of kids and they really enjoyed our walk through the forest. The location of the property is very close to downtown Cashiers, so it's easy to get into town to enjoy shopping and eating out. The downside is the tv/wifi is terrible, so be prepared to be totally unplugged for the entire stay, unless you drive into town. We couldn't watch football or use the internet at all from the house. The homes are clean and it's nice to have space between multiple families to use. The main house/kitchen area is pretty small, but the deck allowed us to all hangout and eat together. Tim is great to deal with, super responsive to any needs/request.

Waterfall Tour
For our family reunion, a group of 14, we selected Tim’s property. The main home (for 6 adults), bunkhouse (for 6 kids), and cabin (for grandparents) were perfect. Information from Tim about the property and things to do in the area are comprehensive. There’s also a day hike book in the main home with more details. Fishing in the stocked pond was loads of entertainment, campfires a great way to end the day, and the adjacent Lost Cove Loop with waterfalls spectacular and private. The property location enabled us within an hour drive to take advantage of many waterfalls, sliding rocks, gem mining, zip lining, etc… So much fun. Highly recommend Tim’s property if you’re looking for a good time in the mountains and many waterfalls.

Back to Nature!
My family, all 16 of us, just returned from a week at Tim's place. 8 grandchildren (ages 3-1/2 to 8-1/2) plus 8 adults. Tim couldn't have been a better host. If you're looking for a place to get away from it all (including TV and limited WIFI/cell service) then this is the place. The "honeymoon" cottage was perfect for my wife and me. The large house was super, could have used a little more living space inside, but the deck area was great. The bunkhouse was fun for the kids to stay in; the portajohn was clean and the kids used it. The private river access and waterfalls are incredible. You MUST get the tour of the property from Tim, it is amazing! Thank you Tim!

Fun for all ages!
Our friends and family loved Heady Mountain Springs! Lots of space inside and out, plenty of kitchen items to prepare meals, board games, video games & DVD’s galore………..Tim has thought of it all! The kids were in heaven with the stocked ponds and space to explore around the property. The private trails and waterfalls are BEAUTIFUL! Tim is very informative from the very beginning to the very end. He’ll quickly respond to any questions you may have. You can tell he takes pride in his property and goes above and beyond to make sure all his guests enjoy their stay. We highly recommend Heady Mountain Springs! Thanks for sharing your property Tim! We loved it so much we’re already discussing a return trip.

Mountain adventure
What a great place, we had a blast! Had a different adventure every day! Made wonderful memories! Plenty of room for our 4 families. 2- 8 yr olds and 2- 14 yr olds plus parents and grandparents! Tim the owner was fantastic to work with and very accommodating! We will be back!

Lost cove
We have rented lots of homes in cashiers and highlands over the years. This property worked great for our two sons and their families to come and go and have privacy. Everyone who wanted to catch a trout on a fly rod did. The youngsters loved the hike to the waterfalls and the refreshing swims. Once was enough for Nana and Papa. Cornucopia and the Orchard continue traditions of excellence for lunch and dinner and the "new" bbq operation and the replacement for Randevous, the Village Tavern, were both very good. Our only issue was the considerable dump truck traffic on lost cove and 107. Don't know whether this is typical or not. Tim was easy to work with and he does a great job of explaining all the ins and outs of the property and entertainment options.

And yes, this year the NCDOT is doing lots of extra work on both Highway 107 and 64, so there’s lots of fresh asphalt in the Cashiers area, but certainly more heavy truck activity than normal. Amazing wedding venue
We hosted our wedding ceremony and reception at this property, and it was incredible. The bridal party stayed at the cabins and bunkhouse, and we had an amazing time. We set up the ceremony and reception on one of the large grassy areas next to the pond, and had plenty of room. The wedding was about 50 people, and it was more than enough room. I cannot say enough about Tim's responsiveness and willingness to make our wedding weekend go smoothly. We did everything DIY style, and used a local company for a tent and table/chair rentals. It turned out amazing. I wouldn't have done it any other way and the property was stunning!

♥️Cabin & Fishes
We had a great time! My family party of 5 and sister in law and niece spent three days at the lodge. The facility was clean and unique. Tim was beyond gracious to help us find trail path and assisted us with many options. My kids loved the pond with all the trout. We had a great experience cooking out and enjoying the big porch. We even took out a raft to swim at silver creek trail. There is so many great places to go hiking with little kids and splash in the falls around the area. Throughly enjoyed this family vacay.

Exceeded all expectations!
Even with all the wonderful reviews prior to our arrival, we were beyond pleased with this mountain oasis! Our days were filled with peaceful serenity at the property site, numerous hikes and waterfall visits (no swimming- bone freezing cold water as expected lol), we prepared all of our meals except one day- with every possible gadget supplied which was so appreciated! The courtyard fire pit was perfect for coming together with story telling and evening relaxation! The stocked ponds were not only beautiful but great catch and release fun! Short trips into Cashiers were boutique shopping several days and a few restaurants. Gas supply was limited at local stations for several days but then resolved mid-week. Overall- one of the best vacations in recent memory. Tim Galloway has got the service excellence owner mentality dialed in tight! Many thanks!

Wonderful mountain cabin
This was the best vacation I’ve had with family. There is enough room for a big family like ours to stay. The cabins are remarkably well equipped. Decoration is beautiful, beds are clean, nice and firm. Bathrooms are nice and clean with enough hot water for everyone. There are rainbow trouts in the two ponds the property has. We were able to feed them. The owner is very flexible and is the nicest person I have met. It shows he likes every family to have the best time. The hike was fantastic!!! Beautiful waterfalls and challenging!!! This is a small paradise! I had to climb with ropes!!! So much fun !! I must definitely would like to return to this cabins. FANTASTIC!!! Francesca and Douglas

We had a wonderful stay at Heady Mountain Springs during our spring break. It’s a great location if you want to get away without being too far from it all. We were 3 families with teens who enjoyed all their outdoor space. The owner was wonderful and easy to communicate with as well as accommodating.

Perfect property for adults and kids
We had four adults, two teens, and three kids under the age of 10, and this home was perfect! My husband and I stayed in the lovers retreat, our three daughters stayed in the main cabin lower floor apartment, and our friends and their two hours stayed upstairs. The friends stayed in the bedroom and the boys in the loft. We spent most of our days walking the trails, spent one day gem mining, and we had a rainy day where we stayed indoors playing games. Tim has an extensive collection of movies, so if you’re there during nasty weather or need to wind down at night, you always have the movies to watch. We prepared our meals at the main cabin upstairs, and ate outside most days. There’s plenty of seating upstairs and down. We did not use the kids bunkhouse, but did look at it and it’s amazing!! It reminds me of the cabins at camp when I was a child. We decided if we go with more families, we could easily rent it and have plenty of room. I’ve never rented a place where communication was as superb as it was with Tim. From details of the waterfalls and trails to the best places to grab a meal. Remember Cashiers is a small town, which is exactly why we chose it, so check closing times of restaurants, Ingles, and the liquor store and plan for that. Everyone is super friendly, and we just loved the staff at Ingles and the best pizza and cheese sticks can be found at Slabtown Pizza (I may have the name wrong, but it’s on Tim’s recommendation sheet). They have an amazing outdoor area.

Thanksgiving in the mountains
The property is the perfect getaway for large families. We stayed a week and enjoyed every day hiking, and boating on Lake Jocassee. We saw at least 20 waterfalls, beautiful! Everyone in our group loved the layout of the houses on the property. The Lovers Retreat was the favorite. Kids had a great time in the bunk house too!

Best Location in Cashiers
I have been wanting to book these cabins for quite some time, but they were always booked. We finally were able to secure three nights here and it was worth the wait. Here is why these cabins are awesome. They are centrally located to so many hikes and waterfalls and cute towns. They are fully equipped with everything you need. There is plenty of room to spread out and yet plenty of room to hang out together. The fire pits are awesome. The outdoor deck is awesome. The play meadow is awesome. And the hiking trails from the house are awesome. Here is why the location is so great. This was our second time in the Highlands/Cashiers area. Even after two trips here, I still want to come back. These are the hikes and things you can do that are super close: Whitewater Falls (take the trail to the right once on viewing deck to hike ALL THE WAY to the bottom), High Falls (Glenville- our absolute favorite hike to falls as the boulders and falls are unbelievable), Glen Falls (Highlands), Secret Falls (beautiful), Silver Run Falls (about a mile away from cabins), Cashier's Sliding Rock (SOOOO FUN!), Whiteside Mountain Trail (awesome views), Granite City or Jurassic Rock (fun to explore) and of course the hikes from the cabins... we were the only one's on these trails and it was super cool. NOTE: the big foot guy was stolen before we arrived so we kinda got lost on the turn into the woods for that hike. Make sure to ask about where to turn left and head into the woods. Restaurants we loved: Mountain Fresh Grocery in Highlands, Buck's Coffee Cafe in Cashiers, Randeuv in Cashiers, Slab Town Pizza in Cashiers, Sugar Cloud Baking Company in Cashiers and our favorite food that we ate was in Highlands at Blue Bike Cafe (OMG! Wow, thanks a ton, Jennifer, and I think you guys did more in 3 days than most folks do in a week! Fabulous Fall
The cabins are exactly as described. The owner is VERY responsive, even providing suggestions for adventures during our stay (in addition to all of the materials provided before the visit). Cashiers is a cute town, close (15-20 min) from many trails! The WiFi and cell service are spotty, which was great for us to be able to disconnect and enjoy each other! We had a great trip and will definitely be back to explore the area more.

Birthday Weekend Getaway
We rented this property to celebrate my husband's birthday. Property was wonderful for our group of families. Plenty of room within the cabins for sleeping and relaxing. The property was ideal for our kids ranging in age from 4-12 to run free without parents having to worry. Property owner was very responsive to any questions and very informative with details and information regarding both the property and surrounding things to do. We visited waterfalls that were a very quick drive and Cashiers is a short drive as well and lovely!!

Lovely spot in the treetops!
We thoroughly enjoyed our week in the mountains. The cabins were perfect for our family trip. We all had our own space but there was plenty of room for us all when we gathered for meals and family time. The cabins were clean, rustic and just what we were looking for. Close to neat trails and within driving distance for numerous other activities! Property owner was easy to contact and responsive!

Perfect for family adventures
Everything was just as described. We may have to book another one for summer time as the waterfall water was a bit to cold to get into. But the cabin itself was perfect. The games and the fire pit area made it all perfect for our family and friends Vacation.

Family Vacation
we had a wonderful time and plenty of room with 8 adults, 2 teens and three kids under 2! We love the outdoors and hiking and there is plenty of this to do on the property and also the surrounding area has lots of water falls and other attractions! Lake Jocasee is just 30 minutes away, this is one of the cleanest and most scenic lakes on the east cost with 7 water falls on the lake that can be viewed from a boat. There are also boat rentals in the area and some offer lake tours to see the water falls. Tim the owner was very helpful with everything and especially the outdoor activities and navigating the private trails along the river. One thing to keep in mind with large crowds is with basically 3 or 4 separate living areas there is not a large living are inside for everyone to gather in one place. This was not a problem for us because we had great weather and the two large decks on the main Cabin served as our eating and gathering place! With bad weather you couldn't do this. For those that love there own private separate living area it is perfect!

Great find for multi-generational travel
This was the perfect spot for our family - grandparents enjoyed the lover's retreat, family of four in the main cabin and single adult in the downstairs. Everyone had plenty of personal and together time! Communication with the property owner couldn't have been better and he went out of his way to make our stay the best possible. He really knows his property and the Cashiers area!

Great property outside of town
We enjoyed our time at the cabin, and the communication with the owner was the best we’ve ever experienced. A few things to note- little to no cell service at the property and the WiFi is low speed, there were not enough towels for the amount of guests in our group, and there is no dishwasher on the property. Other than that, our group had a great time and loved the area!

Best vacation ever!
We have used VRBO sites for the past 9 years and this was the best! Tim went above and beyond in communicating with us and shared private trails with beautiful waterfalls that only very few people have witnessed. The place was immaculate and there were such special, thoughtful touches provided like suckers for the kids, tubes for the sliding rocks and floats, glow in the dark rocks fir the kids to find....if 10 stars were possible, I would give it 10+.

Glad you had a good time, and thanks again for staying with us, Diane! We're always so excited not to have any mosquitoes or ants, but yes, those little no-see-um gnats on certain days in mid-summer can be annoying little suckers. With 8 acres of nature, comes all the natural critter action! I'll make sure to remind guests that bringing some bug spray is always a good item to pack in hotter season :)

Great family vacation in the mountains!!
This property comfortably accommodated a group of 14 with multiple generations, families, and ages. It really feels like 4 different spaces because the downstairs apartment is not connected to the second floor with internal stairs. We had plenty of room to spread out. The best part of this property is the hiking. There are trails to fit multiple needs; everything from an easy walk to a waterfall to a more challenging rock climb with ropes. The trails were fun, clearly marked, and led to beautiful waterfalls. Everything was private so no crowds! The location of the property is minutes from downtown Cashiers and about a 20 min drive to lake Glenville. We rented a pontoon boat for a day on the lake and had a blast. Tim was directly accessible by text. He answered all questions and even gave suggestions. It was like have a travel agent. The property is well stocked and clean.

All in one place
We had a great time on this property. We hiked everyday. Waterfalls are awesome! Fishing was great (2 Browns and a Rainbow). The houses were perfect for our group. Tim (the owner) was on top of every question we had. Thank you for a great time. We will be back.

Mountain Air
We booked this trip with two other families and had 6 kids total. From the very beginning Tim was so helpful with every step of the process. He gave us so much information about the town, restaurants, trails, maps, tips, etc. All of Tim's information was beyond helpful. We all enjoyed our hike ( about 2 miles) to the waterfall. The kids loved tubing in the water and playing near the falls. The house was very clean and the kitchen was very well stocked with everything we needed to cook for a large group. Thank you for having us in your beautiful home, we cannot wait to return in the near future.

Great property and owner
My family and I found this property to be exactly as described. It was clean and every detail had been thought of. The owners are responsive and helpful. The information that they provided enabled us to enjoy several great outdoor experiences that we would have never known about. We would like to return in the summer to beat the heat and do some tubing and swimming. I would recommend staying here without any question. This is how VRBO should work every time!!

My 1st VRBO.
We had a fantastic time with our very first VRBO. Everything was exactly as it stated. Very clean and it had everything we needed in the kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms. Had a family vacation getaway with great grandparents, grandparents, parents and children. 4 generations all together. We will definitely be here again.

Perfect Rental for Large Families

Wonderful VRBO experience. Owner was super responsive, informative and easy to work with. We loved the cabin; very well appointed and homey. One of the cleanest VRBO properties we've ever stayed in.
