Historic Getaway
This was a great spot dor our family from both sides of the state to meet and spend the weekend. There were bedrooms enough for us all to have our own sleeping space and common space where we could all enjoy games together. We enjoyed the proximity to hiking and the outdoor spaces. We also loved learning about the history of Wind River. Thank you for keeping the home historic as much as possible. We just loved it here!

Base for our family
We loved this house and its location. The house was clean and just what were looking for as a base for our family during our son's wedding in Cascade Locks. Loved the area around the house and the history of this location. I hope we can make it back to stay again when we have more time to enjoy the area.

Great house, but a bit of a snafu
The good: the house is great, the location is peaceful, some good hiking nearby. The house is spacious, has all the basics, and the beds are comfy. The kitchen is a bit sparse in terms of of cookware, but enough to get the job done. As others pointed out, there are no curtains, but that didn't bother us too much. The bad: when we arrived, the house had not been cleaned from the previous tenants. The beds has dirty sheets, the floors was full of dirt and hair, trash can in bathroom overflowing, hair in the shower, etc. We tried to contact VRBO (incredibly difficult since there's no wifi and barely any reception), but VRBO customer service was attrocious. We tried contacting the host, but since it's a county office, they were closed (we arrived on a weekend). Our only choice was to drive into town to get cleaning supplies and detergent, and clean the house ourselves. We spent several hours washing bedding (there was no extra bedding), cleaning floors, taking out trash, etc. Eventually after we had pretty much finished cleaning, we found a paper with an emergency after-hours contact (who was not listed in any of the VRBO info). He was great, apologized for the issue, even came by to drop off his card. Eventually, he gave us a partial discount. The house being dirty when we arrived was a big bummer, but overall we ended up having a good stay. My one takeaway is that VRBO customer service is terrible and I'm not sure I'd use VRBO again.

Perfect getaway
The home was very spacious and updated. Our stay was limited in the house as we had a wedding to prep and attend. Communication with host was quick however when at the place there's no connection until you connect to the WiFi or you have a hotspot. A couple of suggestions would be to have the cleaning service done prior to arrival of guests with extra linen and laundry and dish soap. Other places also offer toiletries too. Luckily we had extra for all. Kitchen needs a blender and more sturdy cooking spoons. We noticed rodant activity around edges/corners of the kitchen countertops and floors at arrival, hence a bleach bottle would be good to have at hand. A mop, bucket and cleaning solution in utility room would also be useful. Instructions on how to leave the linen would be great. Hope we left the home as clean and organized as we could. It is a really nice neighborhood - we got to see the exhibit of the experimental forest on a small hike we did around the back. It is a great idea to bring more visitors into the remodeled homes. Thank you for letting us rent your home in the forest

For me, coming from a city, this is almost that perfect get away I was looking for…nice, quite and surrounded by beautiful forest, creek, range and mountains view. Would help a lot if we can get better cellular and internet connection. The property is in a good condition and the service from property management was very good.

Beautiful forest!
Very sorry, but we broke a glass tumbler. Also, there is a mouse in the kitchen, and someone has given it access to the countertop. Otherwise, we had an awesome time, and the beds slept well.

Unique location
Great unique little property tucked away, super quiet. Beds are comfy, house has a decent set up, but pretty much the basics in the kitchen. It was a great landing zone for our group. The only thing worth commenting on is no window coverings or screens, so that was the only thing we felt was missing or would have been nice to have. Other than that, we would absolutely stay again, great little quiet spot.

Beautiful Stay
This was a great location for my family of 4 and my mother. The house was clean and has a beautiful view! Things to note- there is no wifi or TV but plenty of cell service. We would stay here again!

Beautiful getaway
We have stayed here twice: once for the 4th of July and once for New Year's Eve. We have a very nervous dog and this house is ideal for a quiet getaway. It is so quiet and peaceful there The house is the last one at the end of a dead end street. The other houses on the street look abandoned and unoccupied. There are no curtains on any of the windows and strangely, both weekends we stayed there, several cars would drive past each day we were there (never the same car), park at the end of the road in full view, and stay there for 15-20 minutes. The drivers didn't look like teenagers. Must be the thing to do out in the country. If you have reactive dogs, they will no doubt bark at these cars. Curtains in the living room would be a nice upgrade.

Team Ride Rental
We rented this house for six teammates on a cycling team to use as a base to go out and ride the forest roads. It was great, super-clean, supplies stocked. Quiet location. The only caveat is that there is only one bathroom, so if you have a large group, just plan for that.

What a gem!
We were looking for a place to unplug and get away from fireworks noise as we have a dog who is terrified of loud noises and this worked out perfectly. Beautiful quiet place at the end of a dead end road. Several cars did drive past then turned and drove back out. No wifi for Xfinity, but weak signal for Verizon so we could make a call in an emergency. Beautiful house in the woods. We are definitely going back.

Great location
This home was in a beautiful location. Serene and quiet. It was very kid friendly in that there was not much for our toddler to get into. That was relaxing. We wished the kitchen was a bit more equipped because of the nearest place for food being a bit of a drive. The bedrooms had no blinds which made it very bright in the morning disrupting sleep. It was a great stay and we would consider it again.

Nice house far out into the woods.
The house itself is nice. Fantastic scenery. Is a part of an old forestry service compound apparently. Lots of abandoned run down homes along the road leading up to the house. Very bare bones, no internet access, cell service, or tv. Would be easy to make the stay more enjoyable by providing wi-fi. Relatively close to Stevenson.

Peaceful and clean
The property is very peaceful and clean, tucked in a Cul-de-sac the next neighbor will be a while away. There is still cell service if you have Verizon, but data isn't reliable. It will be a nice place to unplugged and re-connect with your freinds and family. Need to bring more kitchen appliance as it's very little in the house.

The only glitches were that the rules said to leave the garbage cans in the garage. But we could not unlock the garage. And we saw evidence of mice. Otherwise, everything was great! Well, there was another glitch - a forecast for another 15" of snow - so we had to leave a day early, having neither high clearance nor 4WD. Thoroughly enjoyed our break from technology.

Wonderful!!!!
We booked this house as a central meeting point for a Christmas celebration with several family members. It was just perfect! Everything was clean and well maintained. Four large bedrooms with comfy beds and bedding (2 pillows per bed, extra sheets), plenty of towels, very nice living areas, lots of parking, in a nice, quiet setting. Only having one bathroom was a bit challenging, but it was large and clean and worked out just fine. Having read the comments from previous tenants, I planned ahead and brought my own kitchen supplies (large pot, casseroles, serving utensils, etc.) that I knew we might need. They do supply the basics, but if you want to be sure you have what you will need, I would suggest planning for that. No TV and limited internet, but we brought our own music and games and unplugged for a couple of days. They even provided snow, which the kids loved. Lots to do in the area, like hiking, fishing, kayaking, etc., as well as a really good brewery/restaurant not far away in Carson. We are looking forward to coming back again!!

All the Peace and Quiet You Can Stand, Mostly
It's a comfy and quiet spot, barring the occasional noisy steer across the street. The setting is more bucolic than the photos would indicate. The dishwasher and washer/dryer are great conveniences, especially for extended stays. If you go, you'll want to take soap, shampoo, wash cloths, Kleenex, and a hair dryer for the bathroom. The kitchen is stocked adequately for 2-3 people, but if you'll be hosting a crowd, then you'll want to bring a few large pots and pans, colander, and maybe some bake ware. And yes, bring a toaster if you don't want to hassle with making toast in the oven. There are no bedroom curtains (although privacy isn't a problem), so eye shades would be useful for late risers. Bring a radio or other noise source in case the peace and quiet becomes oppressive.

Secluded getaway
What a unique house. Situated in the Wind River Experimental Forest research complex, the remodeled forest service cabin is a unique experience. Incredible views, secluded and quiet. Was a great way to get away for the weekend. Only thing missing was some outdoor furniture to sit on the front yard and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Absolutely fantastic!
All I can say is that you will absolutely love your stay. It’s beautiful, quiet, and comfortable. It’s the perfect spot for people with kids because the road is so quiet and fun to walk or ride bikes down. Close to hiking and a short drive to Carson. We really appreciated how it was minimally furnished so that having kids there you didn’t feel like they would move or descriptor any decor. If you are looking to enjoy nature, and a comfy stay please pick this home!

Very nice but missing a few things
Nice house, spacious and comfortable. We had five people and it was fine but if you started to get many more folks in there (looks like it could sleep up to about ten) the fact that it only has one bath would start to become an issue. However the fact that it didnt have a toaster was a huge annoyance...and there were no curtains on the windows. Unfortunately at this point I no longer remember exactly what other shortcomings the kitchen had, but I clearly recall thinking that $75 and a trip to Wal-Mart would make a big improvement!

Affordable option in a beautiful area
Loved our stay here. We would have appreciated a heads up about the water issues and brought more bottled water. There was only 1 roll of toilet paper and no dish towels to be found. Other than a few issues like that we enjoyed our stay. Great for a big group wanting a simple place to crash with friends while adventuring in the beautiful surroundings.

Property not cleaned for our stay
We arrived to a home that was obviously not cleaned with beds stripped of linens as well. House and location looked great, too bad we didn't get a chance to stay at the property. We were unable to reach the property manager and had to leave due to the house not being ready for guests. It was really disappointing. 5 hours on the phone with VRBO, mostly on hold, to be told to work things our with the property manager.

Great place to go off the grid
We had a great stay here. The windows throughout the cabin were beautiful & aloud amazing views of the surrounding area. Beautiful sunset & sunrise & loved watching the cattle graze. There was no WiFi but we got over that pretty quick with the fire pit, games & hiking guides. Backwoods brewery is not to be missed, & we are beer people. Close to the “easy” Falls Creek Falls Trail Head. Not really that easy but thankful at the top,

Beautiful tech free getaway
The house was in immaculate shape. We were disappointed there wasn't a single TV in the house or DVD player. The ad specified no wifi, but said nothing of no other entertainment. There were towels, but no washcloths. I bought boardgames and left them for the next tenant. If you're looking for a tech free getaway, this is your spot.

Wonderful Home
We used this home as a takeoff point to visit waterfalls in the Columbia River Gorge and it worked perfectly for us! We have a family of 6 and the house was setup very well for us. It was incredibly clean and was well stocked. It is in a beautiful location and there are some very friendly cows across the street that provided viewing entertainment for our children! We would highly recommend the house to anyone visiting in the area.

Great location, new property
Stayed in this renovated property for 3 nights during 4th of July weekend. The house is very specious, everything is new and clean. The house is situated in a beautiful place. Short drive to Columbia George. Had a great time and will be definitely back.

No call or email about property code to get into house and spent an hour calling trying to figure it out. Then arrives on property and found that their was no bedding, no towels, no soap and had to run into town after hours and spend another 2 hours of time and spend over $200 on additional supplies and sleeping gear. We could have spent that on a bigger house with hot tub but was trying to set a budget. We have no way of knowing about what items we needed to bring. The owner said it’s on the VRBO website but I tried to explain we went through Expedia and there is nothing that stated to bring these items on the we will receive an email explain more detail about checking in that was never sent. I want a credit or reimbursed the money we spend on additional supplies, gas, and three hours waited from my trip dealing with this. Please call me and let me know how your going to help me. I travel a lot and if these is going to be how I’m treated then I will never use Expedia or VRBO ever again.
