Third on Coastal Livings America's 10 Happiest Seaside Towns list for 2018. Great place for families or couples. Come enjoy the public beach, fishing pier, kayak tours, biking around town, or golf either a Nicklaus or Palmer course. Do a wine tasting at Chatham Vineyards, sample local beer at the Cape Charles Brewing Company, or sample spirits at the Cape Charles Distillery. You can enjoy lots of outdoor activity or just a lazy day around town.
The town continues to grow adding new shops and restaurants. Beautiful marinas and local watermen bring in fresh seafood at the Harbor.
The beautiful Victorian home is an easy walk to the beach and just 2 blocks from the main street Mason Avenue to experience shopping and restaurants.

The home has new furnishings and artwork throughout to create a calming environment for guests. Enjoy the entire home of just under 4000 square feet. Plenty of space and privacy to create happy memories. It has a wide staircase, pocket doors, 10 foot ceilings, original light fixtures, ceiling fans, and transom windows.

Amenities include- Smart TVs to stream your favorite show, 2G & 5G Wifi, three zone air conditioning, and on demand hot water.
Expansive front porch to enjoy with friends and family. Or sit on the screened in back porch overlooking the park watching the children play or enjoying local concerts and events.

Private parking off the alley behind the home for 2 cars.

1st floor
Nicely appointed kitchen with high end appliances including two ovens.
New Weber propane grill on the screened in porch.
Large dining table for large gatherings post a day at the beach.
Family room with plenty of seating and a TV.
Parlor can be closed off to use as another sleeping location or to quietly read a book.
Half bath under the stairs for guests.

2nd floor
Beautifully appointed master bedroom with king bed, walk in closet, and private bath with shower and soaking tub. Queen bedroom with large windows overlooking the quiet street.
Twin bunk room for the children.
Queen bedroom with balcony. Sit in the rocking chair overlooking the park off this bedroom.
Bathroom with shower.
Laundry room with full size washer and dryer.

3rd floor
Large area for games and wet bar with view of the Bay.
Full bathroom and two additional bedrooms. The bedrooms have a full and a twin.

Outdoors
Includes propane grill, plenty of outdoor seating, screened in porch with ceiling fan, beach chairs, a beach umbrella, 2 bikes, and small sand toys.
The rental of the home includes linens, towels, beach towels, and Internet/WiFi. No smoking or pets.


Classically Current rents by the week in summer (Sat-Sat). Reservation requests other than full weeks in summer or for off-schedule arrivals are not allowed through online booking. Give us a call if you are interested in a shorter stay! Enjoy the home with a 2 night minimum outside the summer season.

We offer convenient door codes for self-check-in. Chesapeake Properties by Portoro uses convenient keyless entry for self check-in, details provided 2 weeks (or less) prior to arrival by email and text message.

• Early check-ins or late check-outs: If the property happens to be ready earlier than the standard 4 pm check-in time on the day of your arrival, in most cases an early arrival option may be available when confirmed with the main office. Late check-outs must be confirmed with main office staff prior to the date of departure.

Cape Charles is located near the southern tip of Virginia’s Eastern Shore right on the Chesapeake Bay. Cape Charles is a small town (the historic area is roughly a six block by six block square) that sits on the peninsula’s western coast… meaning you can sit on the beach in Cape Charles and watch the sunset right over the water. On the Chesapeake Bay, not the Atlantic Ocean, the water is calm and shallow. - Upon arrival, we aim to ensure your safety, proper access to the home, and guest features. Should you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to Chesapeake Properties by Portoro directly.
- Known damages incurred during your stay must be reported to the property manager immediately.
- Before check in, we will send you detailed directions to ensure a seamless arrival.
- Check-in time is 4:00 p.m. Check-out time is 10:00 a.m.
- We cannot guarantee early check ins or late checkouts. When it is possible to check in early or check out late, there will be a fee for anything outside of a one hour window within our standard times. If your need for an early check in or late check out is great, your best option is to book an additional night.
- Some homes have cameras for external monitoring only.
- HOTEL TAX COLLECTION: In the State of Virginia and in Northampton County, all hotel and vacation rental hosts are required to collect hotel tax. We collect these taxes within the booking transaction.
- Some homes offer pools/hot tubs, or access to communal pools. There is no guard around the water features when available. Use at your own risk.
- This is a No Pets property. A daily rate fee of $150.00 will apply for violations and you may be asked to vacate the premises with no refund at the discretion of the Host.
- This is a No Smoking property. Penalty fees for violations will apply and you may be asked to vacate the premises with no refund at the discretion of the Host.

Interaction with Guests:
Our goal is that your vacation exceed your expectations. Chesapeake Properties by Portoro communicates via email and phone. After a booking is confirmed, rental agreement will be emailed to the guest for e-signature. Check-in instructions are sent by email and text message 14 days (or less) prior to arrival date. We offer convenient keyless entry for self-check in. We do typically check in with guests by text 1-2 times during their stays to ensure a 5-star experience and remain available for any questions. We are available to guests 24/7 for any inquiries.

Multi-family visit with young kids

We had a great time staying here with two other families. Two bedrooms on top floor for one family, and four bedrooms on the second floor were shared between two other families. There was a concert at the park that we were able to enjoy from the house when we opened the porch doors. The screened in porch was great for the kids to eat without worrying so much about mess. Lots of space to play on the first floor! Parents enjoyed watching sports or relaxing on the front porch during nap times. We’re pretty picky about cleaning and wish the kitchen and bathroom floors and counters had been scrubbed down better but there’s only so much you can do to keep sand outside at the beach. The wagon in the shed was clutch for toting all our stuff to the beach. We had a wonderful time and would definitely stay here again!

Great house

There were eleven of us-- three generations of family-- staying for the Thanksgiving holiday. We all loved the house. It's roomy and comfortable and the location next to the park and playground was a plus. We would happily stay there again.

Perfect Place

Of 7+ stays over the years, this house was probably the best overall. Such a solid and comfortable place - spacious and cool front porch, screened in back porch (take that mosquitos), cool (as in AC that does the job) third floor.

Historic, clean, roomy, old but renovated large house is pretty perfect!

6 kids under 12 and 6 adults fit comfortably in this house. The management company is one of the best in this area (I have stayed 4 times in Cape Charles with three different companies……this one is the most organized, thorough, efficient, responsive, communicative.). The cleaning crew does a perfect job. For our group, this is the best location. You can see the park from the back yard, and using the buddy system, we were comfortable sending the kids to the park on their own, a little ahead of when an adult could join them. They loved the independence, and we loved the security and freedom. We rented two golf carts from CC Ryder Rentals (another positive experience), and used the carts to go to the beach. It’s only a short walk or cart ride to the beach. Our vote for future trips to Cape Charles is to be close to the park, a few blocks from the beach, and two blocks from the Main Street (Mason Ave), which is where the bakery, ice cream, coffee, restaurants, candy, retail shops are. This house and management company check all the boxes!

My friends and I make an annual pilgrimage to Cape Charles from Raleigh and Richmond. We love the town and the house was GREAT. It was very convenient to everything, clean and had everything we needed!

Wonderful Home for a Large Family

We had a wonderful time staying in this home. The property management company is right down the street and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. We had a wide range of people staying in the home from 65+ all the way down to infant babies just learning to walk and everyone was able to sleep and live comfortably in the home for a week. The kitchen, dining room, and back deck are perfect for large family meals with ample seating and room to operate. Although the house might be a bit further from the beach you really don't even notice it if you rent a golf cart, which is an absolute must! It's a total game changer for going to the beach and just throwing all your stuff on the cart. Being so close to the part was a game changer for us and our kids. In the evening the kids would go to the park and play while the adults could hang out and relax. The home is incredibly spacious, and the front porch is a little slice of Americana. Everyone had a blast! We would come back in a heartbeat.

Love this house for a friends trip!

We have a few couples rent this for a weekend and we couldn’t have picked a better house. First of all the management staff is very quick to respond and very helpful and friendly. We got to the house and it’s amazing. High ceilings, plenty of space to hang out, the most amazing porch to drink cofeee in the morning. I also fell in love with the fridge in the kitchen. So much space! The house even had everything I needed to cook meals like seasonings and all. We will be back. The location was perfect. We rented golf carts for fun but it’s a quick walk to everything!

This house was beautiful and very large! There was plenty of room for all the bridal shower attendees to stay comfortably. Everyone enjoyed the short walk to the beach and Mason Ave. I would come back again!

Family Gathering

We loved the feel of the house. It was roomy for our family gathering and very well appointed. We utilized all six bedrooms and loved the front porch and back screened porch. The location is perfect for a easy walk to beach and town. The storage shed contained bikes and lots of useful items. The management company was friendly and easy to work with. We go back any season.

Beautiful House, Great Experience

We had the best experience with Chesapeake Properties and all the ladies who work there. They were super kind and flexible. The property was awesome and exactly as listed. It was perfect for three families: from the Corelle Ware in the kitchen to the boogie boards in the shed, there really was everything we could have needed on our trip. It was a quick trip to the beach, and never a problem parking. Due to the weather and Covid, we didn't explore the downtown at all, but it was a quick walk away. We can't wait to go back to Cape Charles!

Charming Victorian and easy stay

As always, our trip to Cape Charles was fabulous. This home is everything you see in the pictures. When we had minor, normal issues with the property, the property manager quickly resolved them. We would totally rent again!!

Great spot for family vacation

This house was perfect for our family vacation- we had 6 adults and 6 kids and there was plenty of space. Location was great, close to town and the beach (we rented golf carts for kids/gear) and there was a cute park right behind us. The house was clean, comfortably furnished, and generally updated but with historic charm. And we loved cape Charles for the littles!! Great house, we’ll be back again.
