Welcome to Whippoorwill Hill on the fun and refreshing Guadalupe River!

Originally constructed in the early 1900's Whippoorwill Hill is an updated Hill Country Gem. The home is one of the few available waterfront vacation homes on the Guadalupe River that is located upstream from the tubing and rafting crowds downstream. Guests to this home are conveniently close to all the action, yet on a peaceful stretch of riverfront, complete with a large, shaded backyard. The Guadalupe River behind the home boasts of a unique river area with light rapids and spacious riverbanks- perfect for fishing, wading, floating, or bringing your kids along to splash and play!

Disappointed from the moment we opened the door

I can't say that our conditions were deplorable, but it's not what we booked and there were barely any accommodations made for what we lost. We booked the house on Whippoorwill. Arrived at 3:55 (for our 4:00 check in) to a 92 degree house that climbed to 94 by the time we left. We sat by the water for a couple of hours while they "escalated our problem."We have small children. It was the whole reason we picked the house and location that we did. The water was shallow and crossable, the backyard was something we could play in all day. The kids were thrilled and again, it was the whole purpose of our vacation. They relocated us to a house a half mile down the road. The back yard was completely useless to us because it was so steep and blocked, it was very overgrown and the water was too deep to let the kids play in. I picked up 13 dead cockroaches immediateley upon arrival. Every morning I would find more dead cockroaches. We had no tub to bathe the kids in like we did the house we had actually booked. Other than the literal closet with bunkbeds, It wasn't set up for kids whatsoever. I sent pictures and expressed all the issues, I simply received a thank you for your patience response. I asked to at least be able to use the backyard at the house we should have been staying at.....that request was denied. I asked to be compensated since we couldn't use our rental for what it was intended for....we ended up spending about 600 on excursions that we were never supposed to have

Great location

Beautiful property, the location and access to the river is one of the best I’ve stayed at yet and the patio and chair spots are so relaxing. You MUST sit in the two chairs on the hill under the trees!! Only comments I would say to take into consideration are that the hill to get up and down to the river is no small feat, and although there are two bathrooms, the only standard shower is in the master bedroom, the guest bath is a bath tub with a shower sprayer connected to it but it is not mounted so unless you’re taking a bath then you have to hold the sprayer (this was not ideal but we made it work), and lastly this is an older property, if you have allergies or are sensitive to dust then you may have a flare up, we used our own linens but my two year old still got extremely stuffy every night. These things in no way ruined our time, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! I would recommend this property to anyone looking to have a great time at the river!

The location is the best we have stayed on the river so far. People do come to the public side of the river but the area is large enough to share.

Wonderful!!

We had an absolutely wonderful time at Whippoorwill Hill! house was perfect for us and the location was amazing. Our kids had the best time running down the hill and played in the river for hours and hours. 5 minutes for the loop, so fast to get to for a long float around the Guadalupe! Couldn’t ask for a better time, we will definitely be back next summer! Thank you!!

Picturesque and great location

My family needed this. I always want to go to the mountains and they always want to go to the beach. This meets in the middle. River in the back. Just around the corner to the lake. Beautiful drives throughout the Hill Country. Loved it. The house was perfect with all the needed amenities and charm. We would die out on the back deck in the mornings and evenings. All my teenagers loved it. So it was a win-win, and it’s a short drive to New Braunfels if you need something, but there is also the Brookshire Brothers Market nearby. I think we will try to come down from the Texas Panhandle more regularly.

Relaxing stay

We will be back! The view and the location are perfect. Great view from inside too. One of the bedrooms and the dining room overlook the river. The home is spacious and has everything you need.

Wonderful Weekend

Perfect little house at a great location on the river. Spent the day floating in front and relaxing while the teens went to Schlitterbahn. House is clean and well equipped in the kitchen. Firepit was perfect for S'mores.

Right on the Guadalupe

Nice house, right on the river. Fully equipped kitchen. Very nice tub in the second bathroom. Enjoyed birdwatching, making s’mores by the fire, toobing and kayaking. Also was able to cook and even make a pie. Nicely stocked for games and puzzles too!

Everything was perfect at this place and was great for our family. It was such an amazing outdoor space and we loved just hanging out and being by the river. My husband was able to do some fly fishing as well. The kitchen had everything we needed and the house was very clean. We would definitely stay here again.
