The Space:

Welcome to Dark Skies, a one-of-a-kind Red River Gorge retreat designed around incredible outdoor spaces, peaceful wooded surroundings, and nights spent beneath the stars. Perfect for up to 4 guests, this two-level cabin combines modern comfort with one of its most impressive features. An expansive rooftop deck overlooking the surrounding landscape.

Head upstairs to the rooftop deck for morning coffee, golden-hour views, or an evening of stargazing under the Kentucky sky. Back at the cabin, you'll have even more outdoor space to enjoy, including a covered lower-level deck and your own private hot tub.

Sleeping:

Dark Skies comfortably accommodates up to 4 guests with two private bedrooms on the lower level:

- Queen bed in Bedroom 1

- Queen bed in Bedroom 2

Living Area:

The main level features an inviting open-concept living space with comfortable seating, natural light, and a cozy stone fireplace. It's an easy place to gather after hiking, climbing, or exploring the Gorge.

Kitchen & Dining:

The full kitchen provides everything you need to prepare meals during your stay, with plenty of space to cook, dine, and spend time together. Whether you're making breakfast before hitting the trails or settling in for dinner at the cabin, you'll have the convenience of a fully equipped kitchen.

Bathrooms & Laundry:

Dark Skies features 1.5 bathrooms, with a half bath on the main level and a full bathroom downstairs near the bedrooms. A private washer and dryer are also located on the lower level for added convenience.

Outdoor Experience:

The outdoor spaces are where Dark Skies really shines. Take in the surrounding views from the spacious rooftop deck, unwind on the covered lower deck, or sink into your private hot tub after a day of adventure.

The rooftop deck is an especially memorable place to catch a Red River Gorge sunset before staying out a little longer to see why this cabin earned the name Dark Skies.

The Lux in the Gorge Experience:

Your stay also includes access to amenities shared exclusively by guests staying within the Lux in the Gorge community.

Head over to the private guest game room for pool, ping pong, foosball, shuffleboard, air hockey, arcade games, and more. Open daily from 6:00 AM to midnight, it's a great option for rainy days, evenings with friends or family, or a little friendly competition after exploring the Gorge.

Guests can also enjoy the community's private man-made pond and dock, with kayaks and a pedal boat available for getting out on the water.

Whether you're watching the sunset from the rooftop, stargazing late into the evening, soaking in the hot tub, or heading over for a game night, Dark Skies offers a Red River Gorge getaway that's just as memorable at the cabin as it is out exploring.



Guest Access:

Guests will have private access to the entire Dark Skies cabin and its outdoor spaces, including the expansive rooftop deck, private hot tub, covered lower deck, and fire pit.

As a guest of Dark Skies, you’ll also have access to the shared amenities available exclusively to guests staying at Lux in the Gorge, including the private community game room, man-made pond and dock, kayaks, and pedal boat.

The game room is open daily from 6:00 AM to midnight and features pool, ping pong, foosball, shuffleboard, air hockey, arcade games, and more.

Parking is available at the cabin, and 4WD is not required to access the property.

Please note: The game room, pond, dock, and watercraft are shared with other guests staying within the Lux in the Gorge community.



The Neighborhood:

Dark Skies is located within Lux in the Gorge, a private cabin community surrounded by the wooded beauty of Red River Gorge. The community offers a peaceful setting while giving guests access to unique shared amenities, including a private pond, dock, watercraft, and the Lux in the Gorge game room.

You’ll be approximately 20 minutes from the heart of Red River Gorge, with hiking, climbing, kayaking, Natural Bridge State Resort Park, local restaurants, and other popular area attractions within easy driving distance.

Spend your days exploring everything the Gorge has to offer, then return to the peaceful setting of Lux in the Gorge for a soak in the hot tub or an evening under the stars.



Getting Around:

A personal vehicle is recommended for exploring the Red River Gorge area. Dark Skies is approximately 20 minutes from the heart of the Gorge, with hiking trails, climbing areas, Natural Bridge State Resort Park, restaurants, and other popular attractions within driving distance.

Parking is available at the cabin, and 4WD is not required to access the property.

The Lux in the Gorge game room, private pond, dock, and other shared amenities are located within the community and are easily accessible during your stay.



Other Things to Note:

Each cabin is unique in the specific items it includes. However, RRG Getaways supplies the following items at all cabins as a baseline for guests: a starter amount of hand soap, paper towels, toilet paper, trash bags, dish soap, dish pods, laundry pods, and basic cleaning supplies. Any additional items needed will be the guest's responsibility to supply. We do not supply anything considered perishable or consumable, including but not limited to coffee, salt, pepper, oil, and similar items.



•Dark Skies is a two-level cabin with both queen bedrooms and the full bathroom located on the lower level. The main living area, kitchen, and half bathroom are located upstairs. The cabin also features a spacious rooftop deck. Please use caution when accessing the rooftop and supervise children at all times.



•The cabin is accessible by 2WD vehicles, and 4WD is not required under normal conditions. Please exercise caution when traveling during winter weather or icy conditions.



•Dark Skies utilizes city water, which is safe for cooking, drinking, and other household uses.



•Wi-Fi is available at the cabin, although cell service may vary throughout the Red River Gorge area.



•The cabin features a gas grill, and propane is provided.

•We do not sell or provide firewood. Firewood can be purchased at most local gas stations and Daniel Boone Coffee Shop in Slade.



•Dark Skies is located within Lux in the Gorge, a private cabin community with other rental properties nearby. Guests have access to the shared pond, dock, kayaks, pedal boat, EV charging, and private game room. The game room is open daily from 6:00 AM to midnight.



•There are two shared EV chargers located near the pond, close to Twilight, Starlight, and Still Water. Both feature J1772 connectors with 50-amp Level 2 service.

Dark Skies is surrounded by nature, so occasional wildlife sightings and insects are part of the experience. Please keep doors closed when possible and do not approach or feed wildlife.
