Hop in the car and head 10 minutes to Calpe town centre. Explore its excellent shopping district, and be sure to wander the fascinating walled old town, defined by its historic Spanish architecture - including a beautiful 15th-century church.

If you're bringing the kids, treat them to a day out at a local theme park. Hurtle down heart-thumping roller coasters at the sprawling theme park of Terra Mitica, or tear down epic water rides at Aqualandia - one of the biggest water parks in Europe. Both parks are within a 40-minute drive.
