"We opted for three nights here after 2 nights at a 5-star in old town Yogyakarta and were delighted the contrast. This was quiet and more personable. The "in-village" experience was pleasant, never obtrusive. Security and comfort were good. Though much was written in other reviews about the noise from the mosques nearby, they did not bother us at all - it was actually a nice sampling of one part of life for most Indonesians and not disturbing of our rest. "The location is perfect and the staff is wonderful. The hotel is just off a main street, so it is quiet at the hotel but you are close to many restaurant, cafes, and bars. You can book tours and airport transport at the front desk."

"When you arrive in Java villa boutique hotel, you fell like in a little heaven, it looks gorgeous & relaxing inside with the pool, the plants and the whole reception & common area. It is located in a super nice area, close to restaurants and small shop and close enough from marlioboro. Staff is really nice as always in Indonesia. I absolutely recommend the place ! "

"Super quartier, il y a l'aéroport juste en face, de même que la gare routière qui vous ramène directement au centre pour trois fois rien. A gauche, à droite on trouve tous types de restaurants, des petits supermarchés. Rien à redire c'est très tranquille."

"Modern and comfortable hotel in Yogyakarta, at good value. Although a bit far from the main street (malioboro), it isn't difficult to get transport around the city. The staff were very helpful - always smilling -, and they helped us rent a scooter, which I reccomend. Ended up staying one more night."

"The room was nice and large. The bed was super comfortable. The staff were very friendly and eager to be of service, although their English skills varied from non-existent to passable. The breakfast variety was impressive, a large number of western and Indonesia dishes. The gym was well stocked for a hotel gym, they even had free weights. "Nice place to get away from it all. No beach access, so the beach is an 'intereting ' trip back down the hill, and a challenging climb back home."

"I was booked the hotel for my friend, he told me his stay at AlZara hotel was fine, pretty basic 3 star hotel. Very disappointing that they did NOT serve breakfast, you have to order via online food delivery. The staff are friendly enough, even though they staring at you sometimes, because obviously not many western stay in the hotel. "

"Beautiful and interesting home with different areas and a little courtyard inside. Carvings and tiles. They had an old radio, record player etc. wonderful if you want to see an old Kotagede type house from the inside. There's a bookshop attached to the house and it has a good selection of books, including Indonesian books translates into English, a section on Javanese culture, and political books like Gramsci etc. Location is good near lots of nice restaurants, walkable to the Mataram makams,...
