"We stayed this past week with our two dogs, and it was a wonderful family vacation. We stayed in the Blacksmith Cottage, which was fully-furnished with everything we needed. The kitchen was clean and well-stocked with pots and pans, and the oven and fridge were great to have. The bathroom was clean and comfortable. The grounds were quiet and seemed very safe - we did hear the trains a few times, but with a white-noise speaker and some soft earplugs, it didn't bother us or the dogs at all. If...

"Check in was great after i got the right cottage (4 on the property.)very quaint, very sparce o. The amenities... extra trash can & maybe a table lamp in the living room. 1 brite overhead light! The view and location and convienience certainley make up for other short commings. My daughter , grand daughter & I had a wonderful visit"

"Great stay"

"Comfortable overall including beds. Nice view from most rooms. Enough dinning/kitchen space for our group of 7. Back porch/ deck was a plus. The only issue was, the upstairs tub had been repaired and was a little weird but did not leak and when hanging a face cloth on the towel rack, it fell of the wall as if had been previously glued. We all still enjoyed our stay."

"Beautiful room for such a great price. Loved having a view of the river. Room was extremely clean, shower was very nice and relaxing after a long day. Only cons: the beds are a little high. Im only 4'11" and basically had to have a running start to jump into the bed. The bed was also a little more firm than my preference but still very comfortable. Hosts were amazing. Would absolutely rent from them again."

"Great stay, the house is very conveniently located (50 feet to the beach, 0.5 mile to a Harris Teeter). There's some beach stuff (chairs, a beach cart, an umbrella, a few body boards). A few things to consider when renting this house:1. Bring a few knives. The ones that are there are super dull2. Bring spices, sugar, and salt 3. There's no AC in the smaller bedroom. "We started off our short little trip with a horrid hotel and ended it at this super cute and very accommodating camp ground. We had originally booked just a one night stay at the campground for a 2 day stay & play at bush gardens but then the family decided we shouldn’t drive up then go to the theme park but that we should come the night before. "My family stayed at this lovely cottage and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We stayed there while there was a hurricane off the coast. So we did encounter some rain, and there were higher tides than normal, so we had to watch the tides to make sure we could get to and from the island when we needed to. "The pictures are inaccurate.A family was staying right at the deck.The grilling area is in rough shape.I will purchase canceling insurance for now on because of this property.Very outdated.Needs some money put into it.It has good potential but a no thankyou for me.Parking was terrible for me as I had a big work truck.And outdated appliances.Live and learn."

"We love when VRBO hosts know how dogs can be an important part of the family! This was a very cute beach house that would suit a large family well. We enjoyed the beach access and the proximity to all that Norfolk has to offer. The host provided clear instructions for arrival and departure and the house included all that we needed for a weekend getaway. "

"I made two bookings, very easy but one canceled abruptly and the second turned out to be a non-available property and I did not find out until an before check-in. I was credited 100 for my trouble. I recommend that anyone that chooses this method, to reach out to the management agency or owner immediately to get the actual status of the property."

"My children and I had a wonderful stay! The home is cute and cozy and has pretty much everything you need. The water just steps from the backdoor was amazing! A large very quiet beach is only a 5 minute walk. We had fun finding all kinds of sealife and critters! VA beach boardwalk was only about a 30 min drive so we enjoyed that as well. "
