Yoxall village (0.5 miles), set beside the scenic River Swarbourn, is home to two pubs, a corner shop and 14th-century timber-framed buildings. Take a walk along the towpath at Barton, Alrewas or Fradley (all within 6 miles), or set off on the area’s cycling trails. Barton-under-Needwood (4 miles) has additional shops and good takeaways, along with Barton Marina (5 miles) for waterside walks, independent shopping, boat-watching, food and drink and local boat hire. The National Forest provides hundreds of miles of trails and plenty of wildlife-watching opportunities. Visit Jackson’s Bank (4 miles), particularly lovely when its bluebells flower in spring, or head to Lichfield (8.5 miles) to admire England’s only medieval cathedral with three spires. The National Memorial Arboretum (7.5 miles) offers 150 acres of woodland and gardens to explore and hosts regular events. Golfers also have a choice of two good courses within 11 miles.


The ground floor of this stylish getaway has a comfortable living room with a Smart TV, Bluetooth speaker and wood burner-effect electric fire for cosy evenings in. There is a also a dining area, along with a well-equipped kitchen that opens out to the garden through patio doors, making outdoor meals easy when the weather is behaving. The two ground-floor bedrooms each feature zip-and-link single beds (2ft 6in) that can be made into one king-size bed upon prior request and en-suite shower rooms with WCs. A separate WC completes this level. Upstairs, the third bedroom has a king-size bed, and there’s a family bathroom with both a bath and a separate shower. An open landing area with a desk creates a handy workspace for anyone who needs to catch up on emails during their stay. Air source central heating, with underfloor heating on the ground floor, keeps the property comfortable.


Outside, dogs and children will love burning energy in the garden, which looks across the beautiful countryside and fields behind the property.
