"Spa access not clearly disclosed and disappointing stay We chose Barton Hall Hotel & Spa largely because of its high Expedia rating and the expectation of enjoying the spa during our stay. However, on arrival we were told that spa access for hotel guests is not guaranteed, as day spa and twilight bookings can take priority. This came as a surprise because the spa is presented as a complimentary amenity at the time of booking on the Expedia listing, with no indication that access may depend on...

"Room was clean but there was a mark on the bedding which wasn't too savoury. We were given the disability room for some reason and that meant that the bathroom sink/mirror were low amongst other things. If we had stayed another night we would have asked to be moved as the hotel wasn't full. The staff were very nice as was the breakfast. "

(13-14 Feb) We stayed in Room 20 which was very small and had the constant, very loud noise of the kitchen extractor humming. On the first night it was still on at 10.45pm and we had to ask Reception to deal with it and then it was back on, waking us up at 7pm. "Road noise audible from the nearby A1 but expected that so ear plugs prevented any issues. Dated decor and furnishings but room clean. Tea coffee kettle in room. My priorities for this stay were location and cost and Redwing Lodge delivered on both. Staff very friendly, self service breakfast basic toasts, cereals, drinks. Perfect for a budget stopover spot. "
