"We stayed at Old Posting Inn for 2 nights as wanted to explore the lake District area. We wanted a quiet, quaint village as our base, and the Inn was perfect for our needs. The dinner was excellent and the hosts were lovely. The location itself is15 mins from Cockermouth town centre, 30-40 mins from Kewsick, and 45 mins from Buttermere. All in all, it was a perfect holiday for us, and we will come again!"

"Friendly welcome on arrival . room was relatively small but well equipped and clen. Bed was comfortable. Dinner in the evening was excellent and all bar prices were very reasonable. while there was some ongoing construction in the hotel grounds, there was still the ability to take a short stroll around the grounds. Definitely worthy of a short stay."

"Really comfortable, quiet and clean bedroom, the bathroom was on the small side and not as nice as the rest of the room (still nice enough). The staff were friendly but seemed very busy so they just gave us the key and pointed us in the direction of the outbuiling where our bedroom was located. If you have heavy luggage or struggle with stairs our room would not be for you as there were some very steep stairs."

"Charming but a bit inconsistent. Staff were mostly wonderful but a couple were unprofessional. Breakfast was either good and what you asked for, or mediocre and completely wrong. The room was either serviced well or someone had walked in, changed the loo roll, left cleaning products in the bathroom and walked out. It COULD be brilliant, the gardens are beautiful, beds are comfy and clean, some of the staff are fantastic and we'll miss it but they need everyone to be as good as Liam!"

"Booked a double room but got a room with 3 single beds. Not the end of the world but not what I booked.
Beds were uncomfortable. Mattress was really thin, when you sat on it you were basically sat on the bed base and when you laid on the bed you could feel the springs in your back and side.
The walls were wafer thin, you can hear the tap running and toilet etc from the room next door. Also the water in the bathroom made a right racket when you ran the tap, shower or flushed the toilet.

Nice room although the shower seemed to be leaking as the floor was constantly wet.
Although this is a dog friendly hotel which I think should be made more clear when looking for hotels. I do think allowing dogs in a dining area is acceptable. "The hotel itself was in a run down condition and needs a lot of money spent on it. My room, had windows into the atrium so my view was of stairs and walls. It also meant there was no airflow, and on this very hot summer, it made it difficult to sleep or be comfortable in any way. The lights in my bathroom did not work, which I mentioned to the staff, and the door self closing mechanism did not have a soft close function so that I was woken each day before 5 am by the slamming of doors.
