"The room was spottless "

"The inn was okay and the staff were nice. Couldn’t sleep though which is the point of a hotel. Had a road facing room and could hear every single car as it sped by. Torture. The shower was also maybe the worst I’ve had in the last 5 years of constant travel. Felt like someone held a pinched hose over me and there was no water pressure at off peak shower times. "

"The general condition of the hotel is poor, old, tired and a bit scruffy. The rooms just about fit the bill, but the bathrooms are very small. The general condition of the hotel is not good, the corridors are grotty and the floor is uneven. The staff are hit n miss, the cleaning ladies were friendly enough the night shift staff were completely incompetent, and don't expect room service, I had to order in a pizza!! "Gorgeous location. Big room with comfy bed and good bathroom. Cosy bar and we enjoyed a lovely meal. Nice walk into the tiny village for cafe and another pub. Good value. If you’re not a dog person it’s worth noting there were a lot of guests with dogs."

"Very quick check in with very friendly staff. Room was on ground floor and a good size. Very clean and welcoming. Breakfast was good and again staff in the restaurant were very helpful and efficient. Would definitely stay again."

"I didn’t actually stay here I checked in and was shown to the room I went in the smell was over whelming the sheets on the bed look dirty the flooring was worn with gaps and had not been hoovered. I left as I would not stay in such a dump and booked in another hotel "

"We stay here regularly whilst visiting family. I love it because everyone is very friendly, the beds are super comfy and there is a bath in the bathroom. It's walking distance into town even after a few drinks in the very reasonably priced bar! It's dog friendly too. Big carpark and surprisingly quiet after the bar closes. Usually football on the TV in the bar which keeps my husband happy (depending on play...) 😅 The Highfield is always our first choice when planning to come to Boro."

"Personal choice but didn't like the evening menu choices and breakfast was good if poached eggs were cooked better. Mine still had the clear egg slime on them. Staff were brilliant even down to the housekeeping. Room we had was really lovely, modern and a good size. Lots of space in bathroom and a great shower. Free parking was a real bonus. Really enjoyed our weeks stay at golden fleece hotel"

"I was a walker arriving at the Nag's Head at 15.30. I was warmly received and shown to my very comfortable room. Although the restaurant was closed on a Tuesday evening, i was provided with a wonderful Chinese meal at a very modest cost. I requested a continental breakfast which was fine. Pick Hill is a lovely small village with a long history, some of which is displayed in the ancient church. "

"Lovely clean rooms. Very quiet, despite a road being close by. Food was excellent and a wide range of options at really reasonable prices. Staff were really helpful, the guys at the check in, bar and restaurant could not have been more attentive. A great find and we shall return."
