Superb idea with a 13c castle being the usp. Some room cleaning needed attention with excessive mould evident in shower and some areas not cleaned sufficiently. Accomodation best descas adequate but the food was first class however experienced front of house staff in the bar was missing and requires urgent attention. That said we would return

Excellent stay
Amazing, unique place that offers a unique experience. The rooms are small but well appointed. They are dog friendly in the rooms as well as pub/restaurant. The ruins are available to be toured and the local residents add a lovely addition to the experience. To note, the pub/restaurant/check in does not open at all until 3 pm so don’t arrive early. Food and drink are excellent.

This was a great stay marred only by a very uncomfortable bed and green 'exit' light that shone in the room all night. Otherwise this is a lovely place to stop for a night. The pub and restaurant is lovely, great food and fabulous service. Thanks also for being so kind when our dog caused a fuss at dinner.

One night at Blenkinsopp
Blenkinsopp Castle Inn is situated in amongst a strange collection of retirement portacabins. It sounded and looked from the photos as if it was going to be amazing but turned out to be a major disappointment. There was mould in the bathroom and on the ceiling in the bedroom and the whole place just seemed incongruous as if we were in the midst of a film set! However the breakfast was good and the staff were friendly

This was a good location for what we wanted, we were visiting Vindolanda, Chester’s & Housesteads, these were all very easy to get to by car. Breakfast was nice, we ate here in the evening and again it was all good. Small but nice eating area. Friendly staff.

Blenkinsopp Castle Inn review.
Fantastic night, the staff were very friendly as were the local residents. The food was perfect, (evening meals, desserts and breakfasts). I would, (and definitely will) stay there again. The only negative bit for me was that I wasn't allowed to take Benson home with me lol. He's the German Shepherd dog in the pics lol.

We enjoyed our stay at Blenkinsopp Castle Inn. Room was bright clean and comfortable. Meals were very good and enjoyed exploring the Castle next door. Good location for visiting Hadrian’s wall.

Our family of 4 enjoyed seeing the castle on the property. It made it exciting for our two boys to explore the ruins. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. We would stay there again if in the area!

This is a gem in the country outside Carlisle. Super friendly people, great food and after a quick chat with Gary, lots of interesting history both past and present. Well worth a visit. Ideally situated for a number of Hadrians wall sites.

Great venue and room. Super team looking after you. We were here same time last year to walk Hadrians Wall ,& enjoyed just as much. Great restaurant & we won the evening quiz! Highly recommended.

It is part of an old medieval castle that is partially reconstructed and renovated to fit the inn. The restaurant/bar/reception is truly beautifully decorated and the menu and bar offerings are extensive. One can walk a few steps and go into the ruins of the castle that is not renovated and catch a glimpse of what May have been a very important castle prior to the unification of Scotland and England in the early 17th century. It is a bit away from Hadrian’s Wall walk path, but worth seeing the beauty of the surrounding landscape and the castle

Great staff and food but slightly odd location.
Could not fault the service or the excellent food but the property is not in Brampton but instead, miles from anywhere and surrounded by mobile homes. The rooms are OK although need a bit more work. However, if you are not looking for pubs, places to eat, shops, etc. and not after luxury facilities, it is well worth a try and very good value.

nice, clean, convenient place to stay. friendly staff, great breakfast and on site parking near a major road but quiet. only gripe was they allow dogs into the breakfast room. a little confusion when it came to depart. i paid with a free night allowance before arriving but ended up signing a mastercard receipt for the amount of the room. never done this before and a little concerned in case we are charged twice.

Pleasant stay. Food in the very nice restaurant is excellent Room was spotless the only negative thing I could say is that with cars parked directly facing the rooms a privacy gate on the small outside patio would be beneficial. Other than that I would stay again & would recommend to others

WonderfulCOVID safe stay - Amazing hotel
The owners could not have been more helpful. The food was excellent and the home made chicken curry and sirloin amazing! The room so comfortable and very clean - we had confidence as everything was done to protect us and comply with COVID regulations. Nothing was too much trouble and we look forward to visiting again. We had a fabulous stay.

This is a first! Signs before you turn off, which read Blenkinsopp Castle Inn, a sign as you turn in Blenkinsopp Castle Inn! How do you not know you are in a pub when you actually stayed with us? Blenkinsopp Castle Inn, old stone building, built-in 17th Century, B & B, Restaurant & Bar.

Such a friendly place
We arrived to find the booking company had notified the hotel our reservation was cancelled. Faced with the prospect of having to find a hotel in a busy area, the owners could not have been better. They quickly prepared a room so we had somewhere for the first night and then rang around to source us a hotel for our second night, as they were full. They then insisted we left it to them to sort out payment with the booking company and the other hotel. This was incredible service and much appreciated. Our stay was first rate. Our comfortable large room was excellent and the meal that evening was very tasty and plentiful. We capped it off with a great breakfast the following morning. Highly recommended.
