Michigan @ Kimar's Resort Lk SUP

A quaint, cozy cabin with Superior views and free kayaks/canoes. Centrally located between Marquette and Munising (Pictured Rocks) on 2 lakes, you can easily enjoy the beauty of the U.P. on site or with a short drive. From the property you can paddle, rock hunt, watch eagles, Northern lights, meteor showers, and the sunrise and set over the water. We also have a charter fishing service on site to catch lake trout. The nearest restaurant, the Brownstone, is just 5 min away!

You do not have a direct view of the lake from the cabin, but the property contains 300' of Lake Superior shoreline.

Our resort amenities include a public pavilion, firepit, and shared deck overlooking the lake for Superior views.

I am located at the same property and am available anytime you need me. I like to allow guests to initiate how much interaction they would prefer with me as the host.

We have a 7 rental resort in a small bay of Lake Superior known as Shelter Bay. We also have a charter fishing service on site.

First time in the UP!

We liked that this property had great water access and was nice and quiet. The majority of our activities were in Munising so we had to do a lot of driving back and forth and the commute was longer than we anticipated. Everything seemed clean and well cared for. Owners were friendly!

Very cute

Very cute cabin, although small, it did have anything you might need. We only stayed one night so we didn't need anything. The beach was a short walk and we enjoyed sitting there and listening to the waves. I only wish we had, had time to use the kayaks

The Michigan #4

While the cabin is small, as stated in the description, it has everything you need for a weekend or week get away. We enjoyed our time there & would definitely recommend it. The only suggestion I would have is to add a railing on at least one set of the outside steps for those of us with ā€œexperiencedā€ knees. :)

What to expect

The cabin is cute and as pictured. It was clean, but I was concerned with the cleanliness of the bed linen, as the checkout process has you remove only the sheets and leave the mattress pad and blankets on the bed, making me think that these items are not washed after each guest, which would be disgusting and unacceptable. The bathroom is VERY small and would be very difficult for a larger person to get into and use, as we're average sized people and struggled with the limited space in the bathroom. The cabin is on a property with several other cabins, trailers, and homes, as well as a charter business and several old boats all around. The shoreline is very rocky and is of Shelter Bay, not actually Lake Superior. There are 2 kayaks available for use, but per the owner, one is "tippy" and has a weight limit of 150#. The bed in the gray room was not comfortable, we were sinking into the middle of the bed. Some of the windows did not lock and some did not have full length coverings. I'm a very private person, so I did not appreciate not being able to pull curtains or close blinds on all of the windows. The cabin was well stocked in the kitchen, however, I'm glad that I brought my own toilet paper, as there was only a quarter of a roll in the cabin. Our "starter set" of towels included 1 hand towel and 2 bath towels. I would have expected 2 of each towel (including wash cloths) for 2 guests. I have not stayed in many cabins for comparison, hence the generous rating.

Review of Kimar's Resort

We had a great stay at Kimars! A wonderful community - everyone was great, host and guests. The cabins were clean and ready, and the host was very accommodating for anything we needed. You can hang out with others at a pavilion or firepit, or be by yourself if you want. We will be back!

Great overnight trip

We had a great stay in Au Train. I hope we can stay again sometime. The beds were super cozy. Everyone on the property was friendly. Highly recommend the Brownstone inn for dinner.

Wonderful Place to Stay

We had lots of fun paddling the resortā€™s kayaks in the bay and looking for rocks along the shore. Sarah, the owner was so friendly and helpful. Our cabin was clean and tidy when we arrived. The resort is close to many lovely hikes to waterfalls and there were so many local things to do. Munising is a short drive away and we had a grand time seeing Pictured Rocks on a sunset cruise.

Quiet Getaway

The property is very quiet. The cabin was small but had everything we needed and was very clean. You can see the lake and watch the sun rise. Within a short drive one way or the other you can go into town and enjoy shops, kayaking, boat tours, restaurants , etc. We were very happy with our stay.

Cozy little getaway

My husband and I stayed for one night and the property manager was there outside to tell us where to park and where everything is. We walked down to the Lake where there were a bunch of rocks and canoes. The property manager told us across the road is a better place to swim at the beach where the water was warmer. The cabin was very quaint and small perfect for two people but would have been very tight on space if it was more than 2 people. Very beautiful scenery and nice and quiet!

Excellent! Amazing! Nature lovers retreat, woods, water and rocks. Quaint fishermanā€™s setting(charters available)šŸ¦ˆ. Clean and cozy cabin with a sunrise view. Campfire by the water and ROCKS, lots and lots of rocksšŸ¤© Friendly, family owned property on a beautiful protected bay. This was a perfect little cabin for me and my husband. You could watch the sunrise on lake superior and the sunset across the street on deer lake. Great location between Marquette and Munising. The property manager was very nice and friendly.

Great place

The cabin was really small. I would recommend this cabin for two people. Any more than that and you may want to consider a larger space. We love that the cabin was off the beaten path but right in the center of the the two main towns. Munising and Marquette We found so many this to do in these areas. Great food, great shopping and some pretty great breweries. The scenery is phenomenal and the weather was perfect. We had no Internet and barely a phone signal.

Quant little cottage was clean,could of been nicer to set out by the water,the property around the cabin is not taken care of,lots of junk,I think this property is better for fisherman,but all in all our stay was fine centuraly located close to things we wanted to see.

Perfect location

Perfect quiet location on the lake between Marquette and Pictured Rocks Park. The cabin is cozy and rustic, but contains everything you need for the stay. Sarah was very friendly and provided excellent tips for what to do. Overall, a very relaxing stay.
