I have a very mixed review for this hotel. The renovated rooms are nice, but the pre-reno one I refused to stay in was nasty. Some of the staff are lovely but the manager was rude and unpleasant.
I booked a superior king suite which was listed as having a sea view, sofa bed and deep soaker tub. The room I was given was smaller with a shower. According to the manager I couldn’t stay in the room I booked because it’s actually the junior suite not a superior king room. She then said it had recently been booked by a VIP for part of my stay and the error was my fault for not booking directly with the hotel, but the hotel took no responsibility.
I was given the choice of the room with a shower or a room with mold around the bathtub, peeling wallpaper and water stains on the ceiling. I couldn’t simply get a refund and leave.
I’m not the first person to complain about not getting the room I booked at this hotel. I suspect I won’t be the last.
The hotel would get 1* from me based on the booking error and the manager, but it deserves more than that. It has a tram stop in front, making it easy to get to the tower or pleasure beach. The renovated room I stayed in was pleasant with a view of the seafront. Breakfast (sometimes a hot buffet, sometimes cooked to order from the menu) was good.
