Perfect in every way

What a fantastic outlook from both inside the property and especially from the beautiful garden at the rear. The interior of Les Hirondelles is equally nice and comfortable containing everything needed for any length of stay. The town of Bellac is well served by restaurants and we really enjoyed trying authentic limousin dishes, delicious. Hosts Vivienne and Roger are genuinely friendly people always happy to chat but never intrusive. Our stay was truly perfect in every way. Thank you Vivienne and Roger we would certainly stay with you again if visiting the area.

Exceptional hospitality

Roger and Vivienne are the most amazing hosts, they went above and beyond to make sure that our stay was exceptional. The riverside location is perfect with beautiful views of the church and the ancient bridge. The house is very comfortable and equipped with everything you could possibly need.

Our stay

First time in Bellac and won’t be our last the gite was beyond our expectations and was very well equipped the location was excellent as was the view from the lounge and a large garden with shaded seating areas.The reception from the owners who live next door was excellent as were their recommendations of places too visit and local restaurants.*

Could Not Have Been Better

Only every so often do you find a place to stay that speaks to you and says "this could be home." That was our experience at Les Hirondelles. Our hosts could not have been more gracious, welcoming, or generous with their time and assistance. This gite has been wonderfully renovated and furnished. It has been thoughtfully equipped to meet most everyone's needs. The property's garden is simply beautiful. Located along the banks of Le Vincou, it has stunning views of the town's medieval church high up on the hill in the town center. In a word, this vacation home is idyllic for someone hoping to spend some time in a historic village in France . We hope to return 'ere long.

un très agréable séjour

Nous connaissons la ville pour y avoir passé notre enfance. La maison est une très belle rénovation, faite avec goût et matériaux modernes dans le respect de l'ancienneté de la bâtisse et le souci du confort. L'équipement du logement est pensé dans les moindres détails et parfaitement complet. L'environnement est très calme et permet un stationnement gratuit et facile. Je n'ai pas été gênée dans la 2de chambre dotée de 2 petits lits, parce que je ne suis pas de grande taille. Et on s'habitue à la sonnerie des cloches à 7h ! Vivienne et Roger sont des hôtes charmants, très accueillants, plein de belles attentions, à la fois présents et discrets. Le partage du joli jardin ne nous a pas gêné, nous n'avons malheureusement pas pris le temps d'en profter...

Lovely

Vivienne en Roger are very friendly en helpfull hosts, so you shouldn't hesitate to ask them advice about any practical or touristic issue. We had a relaxing week. The cottage is charming en well equiped, well situated for visiting the local area. The cottage was clean and the garden was so beautifull with fantastic views, you can have breakfast on the terras, sit in the sun or under the trees, you can find the perfect spot every hour of the day.

Quel accueil et quelle vue!

Tout est conforme aux photos, l'accueil chaleureux en plus! Superbe jardin et tout le confort à l'intérieur. Vue superbe sur le village, on vit au rythme des sonneries du clocher. Un grand merci à Vivienne et Roger.

We can recommend this gorgeous cottage

We had an amazing week. The cottage was well situated for visiting the local area. It is in the most picturesque village right on the river. The cottage was clean and the garden was so special with fantastic views, just perfect for sitting out in the evenings. The hosts made us feel like old friends and we would visit again if in the area. We were sad to be leaving.

Très bon séjour dans une maison chaleureuse avec vue sur la rivière

Maison confortable avec une situation exceptionnelle. Tous les commentaires sont dithyrambiques sur les propriétaires : après quelques jours auprès d'eux, vous comprenez pourquoi ! Serviables, présents bien que discrets, drôles, chaleureux, attentionnés, oui Vivienne et Roger sont effectivement des hôtes exceptionnels. Un seul bémol : je n'avais pas compris que le jardin était partagé par les propriétaires et leur famille. Partager l'espace (pourtant grand) m'a un peu contrariée et je ne me suis pas sentie aussi libre d'en profiter que j'aurais aimé.

Gezellig huis met mooie tuin.

Prima ligging Eigenaar woont naast de woning Ze zijn heel vriendelijken en behulpzaam. Je ziet elkaar regelmatig in de tuin. Deze tuin is heel mooi aangelegd en heeft een prachtig uitzicht.

Beautiful gite in fabulous location

We loved every moment of our stay at Les Hirondelles. Waking up to the church bells in the morning and taking in that view across the river every day was very special. Viv and Roger made us feel so welcome and we thoroughly enjoyed sitting in the garden and chatting the hours away. Nothing was too much trouble for them - even when the wi-fi went a bit loopy, we were invited to pop into their lounge and log on there. The gite was spotlessly clean and well equipped. The beds were very comfortable. We were spoiled by our lovely hosts with a good luck card and bottle of fizz in celebration of our French house purchase. A real surprise and totally unexpected. Viv and Roger were so wonderfully positive and gave us a lot of really good advice at this very exciting time in our lives. We look forward to seeing Viv and Roger again soon x

Heel mooie gite, alles is voorhanden. Prachtige views, prachtige tuin met verschillende zitmogelijkheden zowel in de zon als in de schaduw. Top of de bill. Hele vriendelijke hosts die er alles aan doen om je wensen te vervullen.

Beautiful house and lovely hosts

All I can say is absolutely stunning! The location, view and gardens are simply perfect. A beautifully decorated house with everything you could ever need to hand. The hosts are truly lovely people with whom I could chat for hours, nothing was ever too much trouble. We can’t thank you both enough for making this a wonderful stay for my sister and brother in law (he is still talking about you both). We will definitely be keeping in touch and seeing you again soon. Thanks for everything.

Traumhaus mit wunderschönen Garten und herrlichem Ausblick

Das Haus empfing uns bei großer Hitze mit angenehmer Kühle. Ein Steinhaus, liebevoll restauriert, mit sehr guter Ausstattung. Alles war sauber und gepflegt. Eine bemerkenswert gut eingerichtete Küche (Kräuter zu freien Bedienung aus dem Garten). Vom Wohnzimmer und Kinderschlafzimmer ein traumhafter Ausblick auf Fluß und Altstadt. Vom Elternschlafzimmer direkter Gartenblick. Der Garten ist terassenförmig an einem Hang hinter dem Haus angelegt, mit vielfältigen Sitz- und Ruhemöglichkeiten unter schattigen Verdecken und wird gemeinsam mit dem Vermieter genutzt. Es gibt einen großen Eßtisch mit Sonnenschirm im Außenbereich direkt neben der Küche. Am oberen Ende des Gartens wurde ein separater Parkplatz angelegt. Es gibt ein gutes WLAN, einen Fernseher (englische Programme) mit vielen DVDs und sogar einen Bluetooth-Lautsprecher. Roger und Vivienne sind sehr liebevolle Gastgeber, die ohne aufdringlich zu sein, ihren Gästen jeden Wunsch erfüllen (beide sind Engländer). Am besten haben uns die gemeinsamen Kartenabende gefallen. Die flußseitige Umgebung ist als Park gestaltet, den man auch zum Boule- oder Federball spielen nutzen kann. Zum Tagesausklang haben wir fast immer eine Parkwanderung über die zwei angrenzenden Brücken gemacht. So man einen 10minütigen Aufstieg zur Stadt über den Markplatz nicht scheut, kann man jeden Tag fußläufig Baguettes zum Frühstück einkaufen. Es gibt ein aufblasbares Boot für 2 Personen zur freien Nutzung, man kann aber auch in Confolens Kanus mieten um die herrliche Landschaft mit der ganzen Familie zu genießen. Zum Badesee in Saint Pardoux sind es 28km nach Süd-Osten (sehr empfehlenswert). Wir haben uns schweren Herzens verabschiedet und möchten gerne wiederkommen. Uwe, Kerstin & Hannah aus Velbert/NRW

De belles vacances reposantes dans un bel environnement de campagne limousine

Nous avons tout simplement adoré nos vacances ! La maison de Vivienne et Roger est absolument charmante, bien entretenue, et très typique (pierres et poutres apparentes). Le jardin, très vaste et en terrasses, offre une belle vue sur la ville de Bellac. Il y a un très bon pub au bord de l'eau à quelques mètres de l'habitation (je précise ici que nous n'avons jamais été dérangés par de quelconques bruits de musique ou de voix pendant notre séjour). Vivienne et Roger sont très accueillants, disponibles et toujours de bon conseil pour les activités à faire autour de chez eux. Nous les remercions également pour tous les beaux fruits et légumes de leur jardin, nous nous sommes régalé ! Nous sommes venus avec notre petit de 10 mois, nous pouvons donc assurer que la maison est tout à fait praticable pour les bébés. Et nous garantissons également que nos hôtes adorent les bébés ! Ce qui est très agréable et permet de moins stresser quant aux petits désagréments qui pourraient arriver. En bref, je recommande cette location avec grand plaisir. Vivienne et Roger, encore merci pour votre accueil et votre générosité !

Danke, liebe Vivianne und Roger! Ihr habt uns familiär aufgenommen und uns die allerbesten Tipps für Erkundungen in der Umgebung gegeben. Das Haus ist niedlich und sehr komplett eingerichtet. A relaxing week in a lovely clean and well presented riverside house

We have just returned from what can only be described as one of the most relaxing and enjoyable breaks we have had in France to date. When we arrived we simply gazed in awe at the charm and splendour of this delightful riverside house set in a terrace amongst other well presented houses. When we stepped inside we were greeted by a clean, well presented and well equipped house with views across the grass and tranquil river towards the town and its wonderful church. We were met by Vivienne and Roger (the owners) who guided us through the house and how to use the various appliances etc. Both were very friendly and welcoming and the welcome pack they provided ensured we were fed & watered until we had the opportunity to visit the shops. When we unpacked and familiarised ourselves with our holiday home the owners gave us some very helpful tips on where the shops, restaurants and local activities and places of interest were. These are all within a 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk and include a Carrefour, Intermarche, Lidl, Netto Eco-Gem (a little like Home Bargains/B&M) and petrol filling station. We were then invited to join them at the local music festival which was a real treat. Just 2 doors down from our holiday home is a lovely quaint pub (English owners) serving a variety of drinks and food which was a great look forward to after a days sightseeing. It's also worth mentioning the delightfully manicured and well maintained garden to the rear of the house which has an abundance of flowers, shrubs and even herbs which the owners allow you to use if you fancy cooking a meal. The views and seating areas (we counted 7!) offer a fantastic vista of the village and we never got bored of taking in these views in. We have to say, the photos on the website do not do this house and its setting justice, you have to be there to appreciate the wonderful surroundings and experience what can only be described as a fairy-tale setting. All in all this holiday home is everything you could want when holidaying in France and the owners have got it "spot-on". We'll definitely be back!

Beautiful gite and location

I chose this gite based on the photos and reviews and can honestly say it has exceeded my expectations. The views from the bedrooms and garden are exceptional and the gite itself was comfortable, well equipped and ideally placed for walks into town. In fact everything we wanted to see was less than half an hour away in the car. We particularly enjoyed Chateauponsac and the Lac de Saint Pardoux for its scenery and swimming. Vivienne and Roger were wonderful hosts, welcoming and helpful, Vivienne even shopped for our first evening as we arrived on Sunday night :) Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you for re introducing me to gin and tonic and your lovely aperitif nibbles both of you! A bientot j'espere, Lindsay, Stuart and Georgia

Fabulous Gite overlooking the river.

Vivienne and Roger's Gite is fabulous. It has everything you could possibly need to ensure that you have a relaxing and comfortable stay in France. The garden is magnificent and the ideal place to relax, read, snooze, enjoy a glass of wine. Vivienne and Roger are very welcoming and helped to make our holiday a great experience. Roger went above and beyond when he contacted a local garage and even drove my husband there on more than one occasion when our car needed repaired. What could have been a very difficult situation was dealt with by Roger with great ease. Their hospitality is second to none.

Wunderbare Gastgeber, idyllischer Ort, ideal auch für Familien

Wir haben mit unseren 2 Kindern eine tolle Woche bei Vivienne und Roger verbracht. Die beiden sind die perfekten Gastgeber und haben uns mit allem versorgt, was wir brauchten, uns aber auch genügend Privatsphäre gelassen. Wir waren bereits in unzähligen Ferienhäusern in Frankreich und dieses ist in dieser Preisklasse das Beste. Das Haus ist nicht nur hübsch eingerichtet und sehr sauber. Der Blick aus den Fenstern und vom wunderschönen Garten aus ist fantastisch. Die Betten sind gut, die Küche ist mit allem ausgestattet, was man braucht (toller großer Gasherd, Backpapier, Alufolie, Gefrierbeutel, Salz und Pfeffer, Knoblauchpresse etcetc....was fehlt wird nebenan bei den Gastgebern geliehen). Zur Ankunft hatte Vivienne bereits das Sonntagsfrühstück für uns eingekauft. Wir mussten noch nicht einmal Toilettenpapier, Küchenpapier oder Spülmittel nachkaufen, was sonst meistens der Fall ist. Die Kinder konnten sich im großen Garten (Gemüse und Kräuter ebenfalls gratis) und direkt vorm Haus im Park mit Fluss auslassen. Darüber hinaus gibt es in der Region zahlreiche Aktivitäten, die man mit Kindern machen kann (Affen-Zoo, Gallisches Dorf, riesiger See zum Schwimmen, Bootfahren, Hochseilkletterwald, kleine und große Wanderungen u.v.m.) Restaurants gibt es in Bellac ebenfalls, alles fußläufig. Die Kinder (und auch wir) haben schweren Herzens Abschied von unseren Gastgebern genommen, die zu den warmherzigsten Menschen gehören, die wir je getroffen haben. Wir hoffen, wir können bald wiederkommen. Ein großes Dankeschön an Vivienne und Roger und auch an Lisa und Giles (speziell für die Freundlichkeit uns und unseren Kindern gegenüber, den Hustensaft, das Kirschkernkissen, Kuchen und Tee, Gin und Tonic, die Begleitung zur Greifvogelschau, die guten Tipps und Geschichten und die großartige Hilfsbereitschaft)!
