What a great find! This is a rustic farmhouse, but nicely stocked. The property is quite private and has a short walk to the lake. Jean was wonderful as she told us the history of the property and the surrounding land. We would definitely go back.

Wonderful older farmhouse in a delightfully quiet and peaceful setting. Just what we were looking for! The interior has been decorated with retro looking furniture and appliances to give the look of an house from olden times and yet provide you with convieniences of a modern home! Also includes a stacked washer and dryer which is installed in a closet with a door for complete accessability and yet is out of sight to manitain the feel of the house. Finally the bathroom is super! completely modern with a great shower. The host was great to work with and was concerned that we have a good stay at the location. We hope to go back again!!

Beautiful location .Very quite and the cabin was very clean and comfortable. The wife was a little uncomfortable with no window sheers or curtains. The bed mattress was a bit uncomfortable. My wife and I are used to a more supportive sleep. We were impressed with the kitchen, the cabinets and appliances were reminiscent of an earlier time. Reminded me of when I was a kid and went to my Grandparents for visits or for holiday get-togethers .The wood floors are beautiful and as a retired carpenter I appreciate the craftsmanship. I would recommend a stay here to anybody. If your interested in fishing you'll love the location here it's close to lots of lakes.

We loved it! Very peaceful, beautiful setting. Better than pictured. I would love to go back. You get a lot of privacy! You can't see the owner's property and the cornfield and soybean field are obscured by trees and brush. It's a bit of walk to access the water, behind the owner's home. You probably won't mind this unless you have any pain with walking, which I currently do, but it was too chilly and windy during our stay so we didn't want to do any water activities anyways. My one issue was it was difficult to get comfortable laying on the beds. They were too hard. Normally I love a mattress on the firm side to keep my spine in line but I do need some softness because I am a side sleeper. If you have any back or hip issues, consider bringing a mattress topper with you.

Great stay! I wish I had turned the ventilation system on sooner, that was really helpful to make the place more comfortable. The toilet seat is broken and that made it feel a little unsteady. Otherwise, the place was very charming and as described in the listing. Jean was a great host!

Our visit to Ole’s farm house was a very nice getaway to enjoy Minnesota country and lake life. The property is exactly as depicted in the photos and descriptions- updated, very clean, and nicely decorated. Kitchen is well stocked with all utensils, pots and pans, etc. The yard around the house is a very pleasant place to enjoy morning coffee, afternoon conversation, evening fires and generally take in the peaceful serenity. There is a five minute walk on the property to beautiful lake. Note: you’ll need to bring some camp chairs to enjoy the yard and dock. We took sunset walks on the adjacent gravel road amidst tall corn and occasionally encountered deer roaming the area. Wonderful host! Great communication. Easy check-in.

My mom and sister and I went on a girls trip back to the area where my mom grew up working in the summers at the resort, her parents owned. Our visit included seeing friends from around the lake and spending time fishing and on the beach at Stalker Lake. This little place was the perfect size for the three of us and close to everywhere we wanted to be. It’s nice to know. We will have a place to stay in the future.

Unexpected Pleasure

Amazing farmhouse in the middle of nowhere. We enjoyed the house and the lake. Jean, you have put a lot of beautiful details into your remodeling. Your choice of books and amenities was above expectation. I especially love the stove!

A Little Piece of Heaven

I was looking for a quiet peaceful location to spend some time just me & my dog, & came across Ole's House listing. It was a small little house built in 1919 off the beaten path. When I found this listing, I knew God had directed me here. It was everything I hoped for & more. I was able to enjoy the solitude & tranquility that I was looking for. I also had the great pleasure of meeting Jean, the owner of the property. She was a great host and a wonderful person. We took a couple of short walks together enjoying her beautiful property. I was blessed with an added bonus of snow on my day of arrival and on my last day. It added to the beauty of the property. I will definitely be going back to Ole's house again!

A great blend of old rustic characteristics and updated features! Be advised, there are a lot of windows and no curtains or blinds. Otherwise very comfortable and relaxing! I will be returning for a solo stay to write a book

Beautiful Setting for an Anniversary

Another Great Stay

This was the 3rd stay for my brother and me at Ole's House. We're in our late 70s and have visited Ottertail County since the early 1950s when we owned property on Ottertail Lake. Ole's House is a step back in time for us and we love it. A cottage on the edge of the woods with no annoying lights or noise from neighbors, but all the necessary amenities, including A.C. and internet. Perfect for us.

Quiet Country GetAway!

This was the perfect getaway for our family! Our 12 year old wanted a place to stay in the country and this was it. My husband and I grew up in the country and this brought us back to our childhood. The host was fantastic and answered any questions we had. She was a delight!

Fantastic getaway

Thus us our second stay here. Jean is a wonderful hostess. Location was perfect to kayak at Glendalough State Park, hiking at inspiration point and ice cream at Granny's in Battle Lake. The Phelps mill is also a short drive. It was fun to just relax on the dock and listen to the loons. We look forward to our yearly getaway to the Dalton area.

House in the woods

A cute little 100 year old house in a wooded area and adjacent to a lake. House was recently renovated. Very nice and clean. Fishing was excellent.
