"So after reading comments from others, good and bad, I believe this hotel has a two tier room system. The front looks good and is ground level. The back is seedy and it seems they haven't made any attempts to do even small things to make up for the dated rooms. The restaurant was good, staff were great. Room was not clean but at least the sheets were, which was appreciated. It looked like the floor had been mopped without vacuuming, small pebbles, what may or may not have been a toenail etc....

"We were very unimpressed with the state of the building. We were in a tiny room in the attic with a bathroom that had no air con or extraction or any window that would open. The main room had a single socket that was practicably useful but from which it was impossible to position a fan to point at the beds. The patio area outside had broken glass on it that they seemed oblivious to until we raised it. It was cleared up half an hour later. There was torn wallpaper in one of the corridors....

"The hotel is nice. The hotel pub is the same. And the staff is polite. The coffee machine DID NOT WORK in the room. You couldn’t even put the mug (from the hotel room not my personal one) to pour coffee in it because it is too big. In the room there are no sockets. I wanted to charge my laptop and other devices, I didn’t have where. There are two “sockets” on one side and the other of the bed STRICTLY for phone cables. Meaning you insert the cable directly. "The bed was very uncomfortable!!! It dipped in the middle so it was quite difficult to lie flat. The balcony only had one seat on it but, as we couldn’t get the door open anyway, that wasn’t a problem. I didn’t take a shower cap with me as I expected the hotel to provide a selection of toiletries. It didn’t. The shower head was a bit loose and out of my reach and, at one point, it was actually pointing at the wall with most of the water running down the wall. We definitely would not return and...

"Its a fantastic property with clean, spacious bedrooms. Coffee (Cappuccino, Latte) and tea in the dining room/kitchen area is available all the time, along with normal room facilities. An excellent facilities throughout."

"Beautiful hotel and nicely decorated rooms. At check-in, reception staff called Victoria was not very welcome and did not seem keen on relocating us to another room (the one given to us was on a lower level and the lift was out of order). I was with a 1 year old child, pregnant and had heavy suitcases, however she insisted there's was nothing she could do to help, treated us poorly and did not seem to care. "2 nights in a family room in this beautiful old building; tea, coffee etc provided. The children had great fun searching for the peacocks. We ate at the hotel on the first evening; good food and excellent service. The changing room in the swimming pool is small but that didn't matter as the pool was quiet and the children had 4 swimming sessions during our stay. Reception staff were friendly and efficient - we will be hopefully, going back soon!"

"Clean, warm room. Big bathroom. TV signal unreliable but didn't bother us. Stayed in the rooms in annexe over-looking lovely gardens. Walls a bit thin so could hear upstairs a bit. Plenty of parking and walkable to Hooton station."
