"Awful is the word! After checking in the next morning there is a crew beginning renovations on the 2nd floor where I was staying. I was not aware of any renovations at the time of booking, the fumes was awful. I put my do not disturb sign on the door, however that did not stop the crew from entering my room while i was gone. They left sheetrock dust on my shoes and the table. My privacy was violated, my personal belonging splattered with toxic silica dust. Additionally the pool was not working...

"The property was clean but April did not leave a note that we had been there to check in and our room was given to the lady in front of us making us late for an appt. The gentleman on duty did upgrade our room for free but we were still late. Kudos to him! Otherwise the hotel was nice"

"I am from Madison and always look forward to staying with the Hillside and staff. Everyone is always very nice. Now the building is old so you have to accept some of the blemishes. My recommendation is stay in the winter when all the leaves have fallen and at night you can look down the street and watch the snow fall then go walking down main late at night it’s so peaceful and quite all you hear is the snow falling."

"It was such a beautiful place to stay and they have done a great job redoing the building but keeping the same old feeling. We had some trouble finding parking, but I’m pretty sure there was an event going on."

"There was a noticeable odor throughout the facility. Staffing appeared to be minimal, and staff members were not usually present at the front desk, although they could occasionally be found elsewhere in the building. The property does not have an elevator, so if you require assistance with luggage or have mobility concerns, I would recommend requesting a room on the ground floor. "This was the cleanest room that I have stayed in in a long time. The staff was so helpful and so nice. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. The beds were the best and clean so is the bathroom and the family and staff were so nice and good to you. I give it a five star rating are the best rating that can be thank you."
