This apartment is located in the Lighter Quay and has an open plan kitchen & living area that overlooks the water, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a carpark with lift access to your door.
This apartment is currently listed for sale. We may have interested parties who would like to view the apartment during your stay. We would really appreciate it if you could allow these viewings. This would only be by prior arrangement at a time that suits you, and only in the presence of the sales agent.

1 - The water. You have so many choices of how you enjoy the private waterway directly below the apartment. You can enjoy the water views from the kitchen while you cook or while you eat at the large dining table. Or you can sit back and relax on the deck directly off of the kitchen. Or walk down the steps and enjoy being directly on the water's edge.
2 - The location is simply outstanding. Lighter Quay is located in the Viaduct Harbour precinct at the base of Wynyard Quarter. It is little more than a stone's throw away from the hustle and the bustle of the city, but provides a quiet relaxed setting. We are isolated from the noise of the central city, however it's just a short 5 minute walk to most of Wynyard Quarter, less than 10 minutes walk to the Viaduct restaurants and less than 15 minutes walk to much of the CBD. This apartment within this fully gated, secure complex is the ideal base from which to explore Auckland and it's close to the many national and international corporate offices.
3 - The layout of this apartment, with two bathrooms and split-able beds, has been very popular with both families and colleagues travelling for work. Comfortable beds with quality linen guarantee a good night’s sleep.
Here are 3 things to consider before renting our Viaduct Harbour Waterside Apartment:
1 - The apartment is in a residential area and close-knit community, so no parties are permitted in the apartment at all times during your stay. This applies to all residents, so ensures you will have a peaceful and quiet stay yourself.
2 - Although private, the apartment is located in a central city neighbourhood, so you will be surrounded by buildings and other residents. That’s not a downside, since the neighbours are generally a very considerate group of people, but you will be aware of their presence on occasion. Most people actually love it, since you will have a chance to meet locals and quickly strike up a conversation. Live like a local amongst locals and you will love your stay.
3 - Living in a close-knit community requires some basic rules to make things easier. We ask that you abide by these rules and that you are a considerate neighbour. By all means, live and enjoy yourself, just be mindful of noise and loud music both inside and out and you’ll have a fabulous time.

KITCHEN
Our fully equipped kitchen includes chef-quality stainless steel gourmet cookware, and good quality knives. We provide a Nespresso machine with milk frother for coffee aficionados as well as a classic teapot so you can brew the perfect cup of tea.
LOUNGE
Sit back and relax in style on the comfortable sofas while watching Netflix on the 55" HD TV. The wifi is connected to an unlimited high-speed VDSL internet connection.
BEDROOMS
Both bedrooms are roughly the same size and both feature super-king size beds. The master bedroom is slightly larger and boast a large ensuite. Both bedrooms have access to a private courtyard.
All beds come with comfortable duvets and high thread count sheets. The large closets are stocked with plenty of clothes hangers.
Both super king beds can be split into two long single beds (additional fee applies), which can provide an option for good friends or children to share a room.
THE VIEW
The kitchen and lounge offer views of the internal waterway/marina. The small table and chairs on the balcony offer a great spot to enjoy your morning coffee.
LAUNDRY
The laundry includes a front-loading washing machine and a separate dryer , and we supply washing powder.
GETTING AROUND
Most of Wynyard Quarter is less than 5 minutes walk from your front door, and the main Viaduct restaurant area is less than 10 minutes.
Our place is less than a 15 minutes walk or a $5-10 Uber ride to much of the central city, including Westhaven, Wynyard Quarter, Viaduct Harbour, Queen St, and Ponsonby. If you want to catch a bus, there are bus stops within 300m.
PARKING
Free secure parking for one car is provided in a single car park space located below the apartment building. The maximum vehicle height is 2.1m. Please contact us if you have an overheight vehicle, and we will do our best to accommodate.
Bicycle racks inside a secure parking building are also available.
OPTIONAL EXTRAS
Regular cleaning. If you are staying for a few weeks, perhaps you would like to arrange regular weekly or fortnightly cleaning or a one-off additional clean. The cost is $251/visit for a clean and linen change, and $167/visit for a standard clean (no linen change). You can either arrange this in advance, or while you are staying.
Portacot (additional $6/day). We can provide Jolly Jumper Roma 2-in-1 portacots that have both bassinet and cot level. This model has passed safety tests and is recommended by Consumer NZ. We'll also provide cots sheets and blankets.
Split bed (one off $25/bedroom). We can split the super king size bed in the second bedroom into two long single beds. The standard configuration is 2 super kings, but you can choose to have 1 super king and 2 singles.
Access to the recreation centre including gym, pool, spa and sauna is from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m weekdays and 6am - 10pm weekends.
We will do our best to greet you at check-in. We also live a few minutes away, so we can pop over and provide assistance if required.
Lighter Quay is situated on a unique waterfront site, formerly used as a log farm storage site, in Auckland’s Viaduct Basin. A hub of nautical activity, with boats and launches skimming across its waterways, Lighter Quay’s proximity to the Viaduct Basin’s lively restaurants and cafes makes it an ideal residential location.
The centrepiece of the complex is the waterway running through the length of Lighter Quay. Wrapping around this waterway, the surrounding buildings create a sheltered central canal where the water reflects sun up to the windows and balconies above.
We've created a comprehensive online guidebook of local attractions that we will send you a link to after you book. You must have at least one Airbnb profile photo that clearly shows your face, and you must have Airbnb verified Government ID.
Quiet time after 10 pm. It cannot be stressed strongly enough that the body corporate has a zero-tolerance approach to excessive noise and activities. A callout for a noise issue will incur a $75 callout fee per visit for the guard service.
To reduce the amount of chemicals used, you must use the shower located within the recreation centre before using the swimming pool, spa or sauna. Please follow the other rules detailed on the recreation centre door.
You will be allocated a dedicated car park that you are welcome to use for your entire stay. Electric vehicle charging is not possible from this car park.
We also have visitor parking (for your visitors) that is only for use by visitors. Free visitor parking on the podium is only for 3 hours per day and this is enforced with clamping/towing 24/7. All visitors during office hours must register with reception and outside of office hours must call to register with Auckland Towing. If you are staying overnight, Lighter Quay considers you a resident and you may only use the visitor parking for 15 minutes for pick up/drop off. We want to make sure your group have a good experience, and getting clamped/towed and then getting pinged $300 would probably ruin your day.
Please be aware that all common areas including the podium and walkways are NON SMOKING.
No clothes drying is permitted on the balcony or to be visible from the apartment windows, a fine of up to $115/day may result, and Lighter Quay management reserves the right to enter the apartment and remove clothing from view.
For long-stay booking requests 27 nights or longer, we require that guests sign a standard "New Zealand Residential Tenancy Agreement". This gives you the same protections as other tenants in New Zealand, and helps keep our insurance company and accountant happy. After you have booked, we'll send you a link to a document that you can electronically sign.
The apartment complex management operates a CCTV surveillance system. Cameras record activity in common areas, including the roads, underground car parks and recreation centre. The recordings may be used for enforcement of the body corporate rules, and may be supplied to the police if illegal activity is suspected.
Before you arrive, you will be provided with a copy of the Lighter Quay body corporate rules, and you are required to follow the rules outlined in this document.
You are required to provide the following details, and you authorise us to pass it on to the apartment complex management. 1. The full names of all occupants who will be staying at our place both adults and children (for children please indicate ages). 2. A contact phone number of the primary occupant. 3. The licence plate(s) of all cars that will be parked in the car park.

Very nice and secure place to stay. For the older generation with mobility,a little far to the CBD.
Very clear and easy to book. On arrival we were meet by a very pleasant and helpful manager. Made us all feel very welcome.

Easy access to everything, especially if you like to walk. Our week was extremely quiet. Apt was airy and bright. Bed was really comfortable. The 2 of us had plenty of room.

We loved the location and all that was going on around it.
Location, location, location of this property alone is enough to justify a five star rating. It is located near the business district of Auckland and within a five minute walk of the bustling Harbor/Bay. The Harbor itself is home to dozens of fine restaurants as well as the main ferry terminal whose ferries can take you to a number of interesting and beautiful islands. If you choose to take overnight trips to North or South of Auckland, as we did, you'll find the main bus terminal with intercity service a short Uber ride away and if you prefer to rent a car,there are several agencies within walking distance.
We stayed in this unit for 30 days and found it as advertised, experiencing no issues during our stay. Brendan was extremely responsive, including allowing us early check in and late check out to accommodate our international flight schedule to the U.S.
We highly recommend this unit for anyone planning to stay in Auckland.

Perfect location!
The apartment is in a great location to explore Aucklands waterfront and experience the urban, metro feel of the city. Had to arrive late at night and Ulf made it easy and was very helpful. Appreciated the Nespresso coffee and the milk! The two bedroom (both with King size beds) and 2 bathrooms made it the perfect place for 2 couples to be comfortable.
Would stay here again for sure.
