Cottage #5 on AuTrain River Near Lake Superior, Pictured Rocks, Waterfalls,Trail

Conveniently located in the heart of the upper peninsula just minutes from Pictured Rocks, Lake Superior, dozens of waterfalls and endless outdoor activities and adventures. AuTrain River Cottages are located in a private association that is quiet and beautiful. There is about a 100 yards of river frontage to enjoy and relax next to. Some Cottages are pet friendly and range from one bedroom to 3 bedrooms and can accommodate from one to 8 guests. Each Cottage has all amenities included like WiFi, towels, linens, blankets, pillows and cooking supplies. There is a fire-pit area for guests to enjoy a fire w/a view of the river and wood can be purchased locally.Also included is a gas grill w/propane, and one free standard kayak rental from Da Ya Shak. Launching of the canoe is on site and shuttle service is available. Additional kayaks are available for rent. Mooring your own boat is a possibility, contact me for details.

This Cottage, "Riverside" is newer than the surrounding cottages. The old Riverside Resort was built in the 40s and this cottage sits on the site of the old bait house and office. In 1998 the bait house was torn down and this cottage was built. It is approximately 700 sqft. and has 2 bedrooms and one bath. Both bedrooms have queen beds with all linens, blankets and pillows provided. The kitchen is fully stocked with all cookware, dinnerware etc for your use. There is a TV with cable and WiFi available. The couch pulls out for additional sleeping . There is grill for this cottage with gas included and chairs for seating outdoors.

The AuTrain River provides excellent swimming, and canoeing/kayaking as it winds 12 miles through the Hiawatha National Forest. Further down river puts you into Lake Superior and quite possibly the best beach on all of Lake Superior. Up river is the beautiful AuTrain Lake which provides a wonderful place to enjoy water sports, fishing or just a relaxing cruise. Bass, Walleye or Pike are your most commonly fished.

Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore located in Munising is only 15 minutes away and there are over a dozen waterfalls within a 30 mile radius. The National Lakeshore provides days worth of outdoor activities. If you are into fishing, Trout and Salmon are the most commonly fished in Lake Superior.

I have seen nearly everything in this area and am a great resource during your stay. I will meet with you after you arrive and give you advice about the area and things you can enjoy during your vacation.

Great communication, easy directions and nice setting with a great location between Marquette and Munising. The cottage needs a thorough cleaning inside and out as well as updating to some furniture. The carpet needs to be cleaned/shampooed. In the bathroom the towel rack was bent out of wall and needs fixed, shower curtain is old and dingy and does not fit properly. In living room the ottoman is filthy and stained heavily at the bottom. The couch has a spring coming out the back side and the ottoman for the chair has a big stain/dyed spot. Outside the property needs a thorough power washing and cleaning up. The setting on the River was fantastic and the parking was very convenient.

The cabin was very nice. Everything was stocked well. The outside windows and doors were a little too "spidery" though. Very close to the river which was cool. Close to Munising. Would definitely stay again in this cabin.

We enjoyed the spaciousness of the property along with the well equipped kitchen. The proximity to the river was very scenic. There were ample spaces off the main road to walk our dog. The cottage was clean inside, but there were a lot of spiders and webs around the door (and also on the window screens).

The property was clean and well stocked, including various kitchen items. The guide binder that was there was the best I've even seen in numerous VRBO rentals. Full of useful information about the house and extensive info about the local area, sights to see, places to go etc...

It is a cozy cabin right on the river. Ther are several things to do nearby. Lots of waterfalls, kayaking, beaches, etc. There is a casino a few miles away, and lots of different places to eat. Something for everyone.

We enjoyed our stay at this cottage. Nice location along the Au Train River. Easy drive to Munising and Pictured Rocks. We kayaked Lake Superior and hiked. The living room was comfortable to rest after a busy day. Cottage was clean just needed a good power wash on the outside. Will definitely stay here again.

No one book this so I can book it literally everyday forever. It's so cute and stocked I love it. 3 days wasn't long enough. Plus, it's SURROUNDED by waterfalls and things to do. Plus the host responds anytime you need him.

Perfect location on the river

This cottage was great for our family. It is located right on the river bank in a quiet area. The living room and kitchen were roomy, and the bedrooms plenty big.It was clean and well stocked with kitchen ware, and paper products.The outside area was great for sitting as a group, having an evening around the fire pit, or sticking your feet in the river. We had paddle boarders and swimmers with us that took advantage of being riverside. Nobody brought a fishing pole, so I don’t know about fishing there. We all agreed that we would stay there again.

Wonderful cottage

We throughly enjoyed our stay at this cabin. The cabin itself was cozy and the host was very responsive to our needs (we needed a shovel) and very pleasant. I don’t want to say too much for fear this hidden gem won’t be available when we decide to come back.

Au Train is a cute, quiet spot to stay for easy access to Marquette and Munising tourist highlights. The two little stores in town and being so close to all the beauty spots, sights, trails and lake was awesome. This cottage is way better than the photos show. Fully stocked kitchen, bathroom and plenty of spare bedding and cleaning supplies. We loved the picnic bench, grill and fire ring. We LOVED being right next to the river! Our only suggestion is to clean the windows.

Lovely little spot.

I was concerned it might be noisy with other cabins so close but was pleasantly surprised how peaceful it was during our stay. Needed a deep clean as there was bug poo on exterior & some spiders inside but overall we had a lovely visit.

A Charming Cottage on the Peaceful Au Train River

My husband and I loved our stay at this charming and comfortable cottage with waterfront. It was such a treat to sip our tea in the morning in Adirondack chairs and watch canoes and kayaks go by. There is a terrific outdoor area with a picnic table and fire pit. The waterfront has a place to tie your boats and there’s a swimming and fishing hole right off the living room area. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need and they even included a basket of goodies. We had a lovely time and will stay again.

Peaceful Riverside!

Relaxing, very peaceful by the river. Very quiet property and close to Au Train beach and Munising. Loved being right on the river and watching all the kayakers and canoers pass by. Would stay here again.

Pictured Rocks vacation

The house was clean. The beds and furniture were comfortable. We had a truck and boat with us. That was a bit tight but luckily my husband is very good at backing in a boat. The boat dock for Au Train lake was like 8 min from the house. We didn’t get a chance to kayak on the river but it was right outside of the house. The location was close enough for driving to everything around the area.
