"Nice clean room. The private balcony had a great view and was really cool in the early morning but it was too hot to use the rest of the day while we were there...temps in the 90's. We love this area and had previously stayed at The Evening Shade a few times and next door at Carters Lodge. We were really sad that one is gone and the other boarded up. "Property is in need of repair"

"Cost of the stay was on par with the condition of the room. Was a somewhat strong mildew odor. Tolerable but not pleasant. Mattress was hard as steel. Outdated furniture but it served its purpose. Air conditioner struggled to maintain cool room temp but it worked. Had to set thermostat on 65 to maintain about 71-72 degrees. Owner was extremely nice and accommodating. Nighttime was peaceful with nice rocking chairs to sit in just outside the room. Would I stay there again? Maybe, but not likely...
