Very happy with the cabin
Very please and enjoyed our stay. I highly recommend the place. I will make a suggestion for the cleaner. My wife has a skin sensitivity and we have come accustom to using only soaps that have no smell. The bed linens and bath towels were washed with a scented detergent and for us was a bit too much. Other than that a great experience. Thank you for making a great place to get away.

The Goddard Place
This cabin is perfect for a couple to get away for a few days. Easy check-in and check-out, great location for hiking in Shawnee National forest. We had a minor issue with the heat in the cabin when we first arrived. After a text, Chris arrived within a few minutes and made sure everything was working. Definitely worth staying here !!

Weekend Getaway
We were able to relax in the cabin, as it was cozy and comfortable and great to come back to after spending the day hiking and wine tasting. As lifelong Illinois residents, we never realized this beautiful countryside was so close to home.

Relaxing and Peaceful
This is going to be a yearly visit for my hubby and I. We stayed during the winter, and arrived to a pre-heated cabin, with everything label and simple to find. The small lake and surrounding trees made for a lovely view while sipping coffee in the morning and make a beautiful spot to unplug a bit to enjoy the world around you.

A Very Special Birthday Stay!
We had a fantastic couple nights' stay at this very cozy log cabin! The owner helped make things even more special by helping me have flowers there when we arrived for my wife's birthday. The area around the cabin was very lovely and we even got to do alittle fishing during our stay. We highly recommend this place and we will definitely make a return visit!

Excellent place
Goddard Place is an awesome place to stay if you want quiet, peaceful, and efficient lodging. We enjoyed the cabin so much that we forgot to check out! We enjoyed the wine trail and the area around the cabin. It's a bit far if you want to hike Garden of the Gods or some of the other areas of Shawnee NF, tho we did that too. Chris was pleasant and interesting. And, we owe him a giant deep dish pizza.

Very quiet area. Beautiful cabin with a porch looking over a wonderful pond. We felt totally stress free leaving the area. Cannot wait to do it again.

Just what we needed !!!!!!!
When we arrived our cabin was nice and cool. We were fortunate enough to have a crisp evening and enjoyed a fire outside in the pit. Our host was kind enough to allow us to help ourselves to some firewood. Bed was comfy and the shower was great. Would recommend you give this sweet cabin a try.

The property was beautiful. GPS took us right to it; easy parking. It was such a delight to sip coffee each morning while sitting on the porch overlooking the water. No other cabins are near by to distract the view. The kitchenette had necessary items for quick snack/meals with refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot and toaster. There was also a grill outside. I loved the binder with local information in it which made it easy to make plans for the day. Local attractions were close enough to enjoy during the day but far enough for a short drive to take in the colors of rural Illinois. Loved it. The owners were open to conversation. I highly recommend this cabin for a couples get away.

Quiet and Refreshing
My boyfriend and I came here to relax after having a few stressful months as paramedics; this property was everything we were looking for. This place was quiet, had a beautiful view from both porches, and the cabin was maintained wonderfully. The place was spotless, the bed was comfortable, there were dishes there already, the A/C was good. One of the owners came and checked on us and offered suggestions for where to eat and was overall very nice and polite. Our weekend away from home was revitalizing and we loved this place.

Quiet Getaway
Stayed at the property while in town for a few days. The property is excellent in location with abundant peace and quiet. The cabin is well maintained and very clean. Won’t hesitate to stay here again if near in the future. The hosts were excellent and provided first class customer service without being obtrusive. Great experience!

The most wonderful getaway
This cabin was wonderful. Comfortable. So peaceful. The owner was very personable and helpful. The pond was full of geese and ducks and a bullfrog or two. My husband and I enjoyed our stay very much.

Walking Wine
Cozy cabin. Hosts very nice. Plenty to do in the area. We visited; Makanda water tower, Giant City State Park hike, Alto vineyard, Trail of Tears state park hike and got slushy at Starview vineyard---all in one awesome day.

This log cabin is very cozy. It is perfect for a relaxing get away. We did some bike riding on the local trail and this location was perfect. Owners are right next door and were very considerate during our stay. My only suggestion would be to get a new mattress for the bed. Highly recommend this beautiful cabin.

We arrived to a super clean, quaint cabin that was perfect for our getaway. Pretty setting, close to town but far enough away to feel like you’re in the country. Easy access to local parks/hiking and the Shawnee Wine Trail. Highly recommend.

Between 2 very busy schedules we managed to find this gem for the weekend! I asked for additional help being our anniversary and valentines celebration and it was perfect! The bed was comfortable, the space was perfect for rekindling time spent together. Beautiful pond and deer and a puppy dog met us at the drive. QUIET surrounding which was much needed. You are next door to the owners but you would never even know it!!! Thank you so much for helping make this weekend everything it needed to be ! We would definitely go back.. it was hard to leave
