Nice stay in the mountains

We had a good stay at Black Lake Mountain Retreat. Loved that there was a small fenced in back yard for our dogs. They are not very big so it would have been better if the grass was cut but it worked out fine. Not much traffic so we could go for walks with the dogs. There was plenty of room inside the house and it was stocked with everything that you need.

Peaceful Getaway

We had a great stay at this cozy and quiet home! The house itself was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. The mountain views were absolutely stunningā€”sunrises and sunsets were a treat each day. One of our favorite parts was the abundance of wildlife; birds were everywhere, and we spotted all kinds of animals during our stay. Itā€™s the perfect place to relax and enjoy nature. Highly recommend if youā€™re looking for a peaceful getaway with beautiful scenery!

We truly enjoyed our stay at this Angel Fire home! Lots of space, great kitchen with everything you need to cook, prepare & serve meals, and laundry facilities are just a few top points. Location is quiet and beautiful. Artistā€™s Artwork is beautiful & on display in the home. Really liked this Vrbo. 5 stars!

Home away from home

This house was a wonderful place to stay for our annual family ski vacation. Our girls stayed in one bedroom, allowing dad to get up early and have coffee downstairs without disturbing them. The kitchen was fully equipped, allowing us to have family dinner at the nice wood table a few nights. The nice views out each window and the comfortable sofa and chairs made for a relaxing evening after hitting the slopes, which were only 10 minutes away.

Quiet getaway

I was having work done on my house and booked Jacqui's place so I could escape from the mess at night. The area is quiet and beautiful, the house was perfect for me, quite comfortable, with everything I needed. I and my dog enjoyed our stay very much.

Very nice stay

We stayed for four nights, to ski in Angel Fire resort, which is 10 minutes away. An easy drive. The property is well loved and maintained. The furniture is lovely, the kitchen is nicely stocked. We were able to make dinners at home. The dishes are very pretty and colorful. Lots of plates, glasses, wine glasses, coffee mugs, kitchen towels, napkins, etc. If you miss some small stuff (aluminum foil, plastic wrap and such). -there is a Family Dollar a few miles away, where you can buy cheap supplies.The paintings on the walls are a very nice touch. Bedding was nice, plenty of extra towels, all very good quality. The bigger mattress was a bit too soft for my back, but we made some rearrangements, and the smaller mattress worked just fine. The owner was ready to help. When I asked for a humidifier, she delivered it shortly. One WARNING though for future occupants - DO NOT USE THE AXE by the fire place. My husband used it to chop the firewood, and the axe broke (the metal part flew off the wooden handle). It's a miracle nobody got seriously hurt. Over all - a very nice stay, will be glad to stay there again.

Amazing Value for any family!

We were so thankful to find this property. The price was low, the location made it very easy to get to Angel Fire for skiing and it offered plenty of space for our family of five. Jacqui had the home decorated for Christmas when we came which we loved. Our kids enjoyed playing outside in both the back and front yard. Having a washer and dryer and fully stocked kitchen also made our ski trip very easy. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were dark so we slept very well! We would for sure book this property again. Excellent value for a wonderful mountain getaway!

Dirtiest rental I have ever stayed at - dog almost choked on garbage from floor

I travel a lot and use rental homes often and this is by far the filthiest I have ever rented. From the moment we arrived and used the restroom we noticed SO MUCH hair covering the sink, toilet and bathtub. It didnā€™t look like it had been cleaned at all. I hoped the towels were clean. All of the floors were covered in previous guests small garbage from plastic wrappers to coins. I spent four days picking things out of my dogs mouth - coins, plastic rages from clothes, TOENAIL CLIPPINGS,rubber bands, plastic luggage tags. I couldnā€™t believe it. I hoped the hair I found on the bed sheets were just stick from the wash and I picked them off and tried not to think about it. I honestly felt dirty staying there and itā€™s such a shame because the house itself is large and inviting. Had a lot of potential but entering into previous guests filth is awful. Negative stars.

Very Comfortable

We enjoyed our stay very much. The living area is even larger than in the photos. The kitchen has everything we could need. Great views. There were several types of birds even in winter. Jacqui's beautiful art decorated the walls. Our 2 small dogs loved the back yard. We would definitely stay here again.

Accurate description, lovely stay.

We had an excellent time staying here. The owner lives onsite, but youā€™d never know it. The property is as itā€™s described in the listing. We brought our two dogs and they enjoyed the fenced-in yard. Plenty of pots, pans, and utensils allowed us to cook all our meals at the home. Absolutely beautiful area of New Mexico. Would highly recommend.

Jaqui has done a great job making this little home warm and cozy. We enjoyed the quiet, bucolic setting and the spacious, homey furnishings. Beds and linens were comfortable, everything was clean and well-maintained. We were glad to stay and will return next time!

Quiet and comfortable mountain getaway

We stayed here with our dog for four nights during the Fall color season. It was very comfortable and pleasant. The house was well stocked with many essentials and more. The Wi-Fi worked well - we could stream HD movies. The location is nice near Eagle Nest Lake, Cimarron Canyon and a short drive away from Red River or Taos / Rio Grande Gorge. Fuel and groceries are readily available in Angel Fire. There are many trails in the vicinity with difficulty ratings from easy to more challenging. On and near the property itself we could see wildlife such as deer, hawks and prairie dogs. We would definitely recommend this place.

Great stay for year four

This was our fourth year staying at the Black Lake Mountain Retreat. It is perfect for a long stay with dogs. The back yard is fenced, and there are plenty of places to walk your friends. The house is well equipped with everything you need to cook meals. Of course the scenery is beautiful, the hummingbirds plentiful, not to mention the hawk, bluebirds and many others we will be back!

Delightful time in Black Lake

My wife and I travel often. We are seniors who have traveled now for 47 years seeing much of the world. We have used VRBO homes now for 35+ years. Our recent VRBO experience was terrific. Everything about our 6 week stay in this home was good. The home itself is an older duplex home located in a country community called Black Lake. Black Lake is 7 miles from Angel Fire where we enjoy golf, hiking and various social activities. Over our six weeks, our location was near Taos, Eagles Nest, Reds River, Espanola & Santa Fe which allowed easy day drip adventures. The home is tastefully decorated with nice furniture, spacious comfortable bedrooms (2) and bath rooms. The owner lives in the duplex home next door. Here name is Jacqui. She was never intrusive. She was always available to help with any questions we had. Jacqui is also an accomplished artist. Several of Jacqui's paintings were vibrantly presented throughout our home. One of my family roles is to cook for us as we travel. The kitchen was spacious with everything we needed. Rather than go on about everything we loved about Jacqui's home, I end my review with this statement. We enjoyed 6 weeks this past trip at Jacqui's home. We will definitely go back to stay with her next summer. Next time we intend to rent Jacqui's home for 8 weeks.

Amazing Location

The place was perfect for my dad, brother and I to go fishing at Eagle Nest. We took a beautiful drive to Red River as well. The place has everything you could ask for. Highly recommended.

Family Vacation

We had a great time staying here! House had everything we needed and it was a huge bonus to be able to bring our dogs. We went hiking in the snow and sledding a ton. The location is great being just a bit out of the town proper, super quiet and lovely scenery. I enjoyed watching the cows behind the house and listening to the rooster. Great place for a family to stay, we will definitely be back!
