Great stay for a race weekend
We really enjoyed our stay in this cabin. There were plenty of beds for the 7 of us to sleep before heading to the early morning race start at Sugar Pine Point. The location was really close to Tahoe City for restaurants and grocery stores but had a trail right behind it to the Paige Meadows.

Great stay

In town for WSER event

A perfect place for our group
We stayed here with our 25 year old son and a friend of his to ski. Our daughter and her friends are working here for the ski season so they joined us each evening for dinner and to hang around. The wood stove, Netflix accessible Tv, big table for meals and games was perfect. Plus we liked putting our rental car in the garage since is snows so much! The skiing was amazing and the lake views from restaurants in town and from the ski slopes is absolutely beautiful! The beds were comfortable and we had everything we needed.

Perfect Christmas treat!!!
Das Berghaus was perfect for our family. The house was comfortable, the kitchen easy to work in and fully stocked with cooking needs, including a number of spices. The configuration of the upstairs bedrooms allowed our grandson to share a room with his parents. Too, we so utilized the sledding hill right behind the house and trails above the hill, including snowmobiling. Our grandson and his grandpa enjoyed building a life-size snowman they named "Grandpa Boo." We also used the woodburning stove almost every night. It was a wonderful Christmas at das Berghaus. As a family, we vote on every house that we rent for vacation. Everyone agreed that this house was a certain possibility for future visits to Tahoe City. If you decide to stay at this house, seek out the spectacular lake overlook in the neighborhood.

Great Winter Location for Families
We have young children and this property is located on a hill that provided perfect sledding for the kids right out the back doorstep. It is also located nearby the ski resorts and other recreation. The Garage kept the snow off my vehicle and the property management company even provided courtesy snow cleaning of the deck since we had 4 inches overnight. It was a pleasure to have firewood onsite and a nice wood-burning stove to enjoy. The only surprise was the lack of coffee and shampoo provided. They have a coffee machine but not coffee, and there was only handsoap provided in the bathrooms. Overall we had a great time and want to go back soon!

Beautiful mountain weekend
The house was nice and cozy with access to a great country road that lead to Paige Meadow. Was well stocked with wood for the fireplace. The downstairs bedroom was cold, but all of the beds had electric blankets. Two burners on the stove didn't work, but they brought us a hot plate that helped with the cooking situation. Overall a lovely stay.

Thank you so much for your review! We're happy you enjoyed your stay. There are space heaters available in the home as well. A new stove has been ordered, but won't arrive until March. They're actually switching over to a gas stove! Unfortunately March is the earliest we could get one.

Dirty, Broken Appliances & BEWARE PET OWNERS
Overall, a cozy home, but would not recommend bringing your dogs to this property. Pros - well stocked, convenient location close to Tahoe City & Palisades Cons - just about everything else Cleanliness is quite poor - there were cobwebs in the corners, on the chandelier light over the dining table, TONs of dust behind the TV etc. Very evident that it isn't fully cleaned down after each stay. General use areas were okay. The stove is clearly broken. The back left burner barely works, and the front right burner is completely missing. Not what you'd expect from a home. Also despite all the advertising in the home about the fireplace, they don't provide matches or anything to start a fire so if you want to do that, make sure you bring a lighter of some sort. In addition, there are tons of things that are scattered throughout the home that seem like they were just left there like a water bottle, or an appliance clearly from before the 90's. Most importantly, I would not recommend this as a place to bring your dogs even though it is listed as dog friendly. After checkout, the property management group are making false accusations of there being an accident and are going to try to charge. Would not recommend staying here with pets and going through the headache of dealing with this process. I will give a + to management being responsive and helpful. Things could just be more polished

Thank you for your review, Austin. We are addressing these sub-par cleaning related items immediately to our cleaning staff so it won't be an issue in the future. We do uphold high cleaning standards and are sorry if you found the home in any other condition. Please know that if anything comes up during your stay (cleaning issues, appliance issues, missing supplies like the lighter or kindling) we will gladly make it right during your stay, but you need to let us know about it. The homeowner has a new stove on order and will be installed as soon as we get it, but the current one has been repaired for use in the meantime. We understand you are upset that we found fresh/wet urine spots from your dogs and are not willing to take responsibility. We are very fair regarding dog stays and understand that accidents do happen, but it is your responsibility to pay for cleaning when dogs cause damage or go potty inside. This was outlined in the rental agreement you signed and we think is a reasonable request for any responsible dog owner.

Birthday Weekend Escape
Despite the smoky air all over the West Coast, we all came together from CA, WA, and ID to celebrate my birthday in beautiful Tahoe City. This cozy home was perfect for 7 us of plus furry friends. We loved the trail at the back of the huge backyard, the proximity to the coffee shop (with amazing pastries) and the closeness of the bike path. We easily biked from home all the way to Squaw Valley for pickle ball and back. Next time we will float the Truckee River. The home is also well stocked and we ate nearly every meal there. Overall we felt we had escaped COVID, wild fires and everything else here in Tahoe City and we can't wait to go back.

Horrific, unsafe check-in process
This is a nice house in a great location. But the management company behind the rental is not very good and are incredibly impersonal. Everything about the stay is automated; they don't even give you a phone call the day of check-in, they just send you an email to get the key to the house from a lockbox at the door. The problem is that this email with the code is also automated and low and behold, the code was wrong. I was in a rush to get to a wedding and didn't have time to wait on getting the correct code from the after-hours emergency people. It took about 25 min to get the right code. I compared notes with a friend in a house nearby managed by the same company, and his house's lockbox also had the exact same code! This is a huge security risk and quite lazy on the part of the management. Not to mention, he also had the same experience as me with the wrong code on his email. We did try using each other's keys on the doors for fun and the locks were different. I was kind of surprised to be honest. There was also an electric bear fencing system that was supposed to be turned off upon our arrival. It wasn't (of course). They tell you about it in the email but if you didn't look close enough, you'd probably miss it. This is also a huge liability for someone to accidentally electrocute themselves. When I checked out, the person on duty just kind of laughed off my complaints and made no effort to make things right. Poor business practice. The bottom line: if you can find a similar house managed by a different company, I'd go with them. You never know what kind of other security risks that this company will have you take on.

Perfectly Located!!
We enjoyed a wonderful Labor Day weekend at Das Berghaus. The property management company was extremely responsive to any questions & the check-in instructions were easy to follow. The home is easy walking or biking distance to Tahoe City, which was great for the holiday weekend. No getting stuck in traffic!! The home had all amenities you’d expect from a Tahoe rental. Very clean & comfortable. Plenty of windows that allow for a great cross breeze, plus it includes 2 large fans & 2 small fans. Wonderful deck for BBQs & relaxing. Very quiet neighborhood & relatively little traffic. Obviously this is a well cared for home & loved by the owners.

Very outdated
While the location of this house is fine, the house and all its amenities are extremely outdated (cookware, linens, furnishings, decor and appliances are very worn and feel like they're from the 70s-80s). The beds have old sheets and bedspreads that had hair all over them; not sure how often those blankets get washed (if ever). The heating is not very efficient, so the downstairs bedroom is uncomfortably cold (and it does not help that the blankets are so thin and threadbare).

Hello Elizabeth, Thank you for your constructive feedback, it really helps us improve things for guest stays. We've addressed the cleaning issues and I've relayed this information to the homeowners, as they have been in a continual process of upgrading. The home has just had some remodeling including new bathrooms, windows, window covering, etc. We will certainly work on more of the aesthetics and furnishings. Hauserman Rental Group

Look no further!
The cottage was perfect for our little family of 3 (2 adults / 1 child) and dog but could certainly accommodate another family with ease. The cottage was super clean, very comfortable and so convienently located. If you’re into walking / hiking, there is a trail right behind the cottage! The house resides on a quiet street, safe for kids and pets. It is super close to Tahoe City, restaurants, venues as well as ski resorts. I would definitely re rent this cottage again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a clean, spacious and ideally located vacation home. The price is also very reasonable.

Clean, Quiet, Secure in a great location
Large enough for a group yet feels cozy. Easy to find, close to markets and restaurants, the lake and ski resorts. Comfy beds, fully equipped kitchen and a wash dryer just off the kitchen. Very good wifi. We would stay here again.

It was as expected and hoped for
The property had all The conveniences we expected and was very comfortable. The absence of air conditioning, which we did not expect, could have been offset with ceiling fans. It was uncomfortably warm on a couple of evenings we were there.

Thank you for your honest review, and we are sorry you had an uncomfortably warm stay. We do note in our guest policies that none of the homes we manage are equipped with air conditioning - it is just not a normal thing for any properties in this area. We do, however, supply box fans at every property and if your rental is ever missing these items, please let us know during your stay and we're happy to deliver new ones right away!

Perfect Tahoe Home
We absolutely loved our stay in this home! It has all the Tahoe charm, plenty of room, huge deck, well stocked and you are surrounded by beautiful trees. You can walk or bike into town and The Tahoe House is very close so that you can go get your morning coffee! We give this place 5+ stars and would definitely stay here again!

Perfect, so long as you don’t really need the internet
We had a wonderful stay in Tahoe City! This house is super conveniently located to downtown Tahoe City (as well as the Tahoe House bakery which has amazing english muffins!). The house was really well suited to have 6-8 people stay there, and dogs as well! There were trails right out the back door which was great for walking the dogs, and the neighborhood was really peaceful and nice. Would absolutely stay again! The one draw back was that we were under the impression the wifi would be better. Most of our group was planning on working remotely for part of the trip, and the wifi was not not sufficient enough for even one person to be online and working (not enough bandwidth). We had to venture into town to try to find a cafe with wifi (there are not that many!). Other than this hiccup we had an amazing stay!

They're also in the process of remodeling the bathrooms and improving the overall appearance of the house by replacing the flooring, the doors, and the window blinds. Clean, well equipped. Plenty of space.
Awesome location. 1.5 miles into Tahoe city, easy walk along the path. Felt very comfortable there and safe. Would use the same house again in a heart beat!
