The perfect place in the perfect location for a family get away.
Compass cottage is a lovely house and my family and I really enjoyed our stay. The view from the house was amazing, and we went on so many walks with even more amazing views. It was the relaxing get together time we were all looking for.

Absolutely Perfect
We had a group of 8 staying and up to 11 for dinner. The house was perfect and unbelievably well stocked. The owner was fantastic - making sure we arrived safely, the welcome gifts, Xmas trees all up. While the weather was wet and windy it did not stop us hiking the wonderful Jurassic coast path. Absolutely brilliant stay and cannot recommend this property highly enough. PS don't try and go up and down the steps at Houns Tout in 50 mph winds, calf deep mud and heavy rain. Terrifying!

Lovely experience.
5 friends holidaying together. Compass Cottage was clean warm and very well stocked we had a wonderful week. Our host Wendy was very helpful book in was simple we would definitely stay there again.

Charming and comfortable
The property was well equipped particularly in the kitchen. Overall cleanliness good. Social areas are excellent for large family groups. Beds very comfortable. The village is lovely and cottage is in a peaceful setting but close enough to explore area's of interest. Cottage manager very helpful. All in all a very good autumn get-away.

Great Family Vacation
We had a great week at Worth Matravers it is a great base to explore the area with Swanage and Wareham not far. We travelled the coast easily and enjoyed some walks close By to Winspit Quarry. A great family vacation, the house was great for our family and if like us you are a big family then the use of the campsite at the top of the hill was perfect for us all to meet and enjoy a family holiday. The house had everything we needed, plenty cutlery and kitchen equipment, and we enjoyed evenings in the large lounge area a great space for catch ups, wine and games.

All You Need
Great property, spacious, clean , no shop nearby so need a car . Brilliant pub up the road but only does snacks. No restaurants in walking distance. Kitchen in property has a you need . Nearest shop in Swanage . Views are great , but not from back garden only from master bedroom and lounge. But bench out front. Lots of parking . Bathrooms could be up dated but all in working order. Overall a good quiet place to stay .

Great house and location
A fantastic location and ideal house for a family gathering. The house was comfortable and clean with plenty of living/dining space and very well equipped with everything we needed plus thoughtful touches. It was great for a young child with plenty of space to run around plus a clean, sturdy, comfortable cot provided - I mention this particularly because in my experience cots provided in hotels/holiday cottages are often awful! Highly recommended, I would happily return.

Compass Cottage is a spacious and well-equipped property, very well suited to larger, cross-generational family groups. The large lounge and other downstairs spaces are good for socialising or just chilling out.

Great house, great location!
Large, comfortable house that was more than enough for 3 couples. Well-appointed with everything we needed and more. Good sea view and easy access to numerous public footpaths including the SW Coastal Path. Host was most helpful and readily available. Would certainly stay there again if I needed this size of property.

Wonderful find!
Compass Cottage is a wonderful base for a family holiday. It’s in a fabulous location and Wendy the host maintains the property to a very high standard with lots of thoughtful little touches that make all the difference when staying home from home. Highly recommended.

Lovely Stay
We had a lovely week at Compass Cottage. Waking up to the sea views was wonderful. The cottage was very clean and well equipped. The thoughtful welcome pack of bread, butter, tea, milk and biscuits was very much appreciated. Wendy was a charming host and very communicative. Highly recommended

Great stay to celebrate a 60th birthday!
My family loved staying at this holiday home to celebrate a 60th birthday. The property had everything we needed and Wendy (the host) was great at communicating with us. Wendy also provided us a welcome package which was really appreciated. I would really recommend this property to other and the local area is also stunning!!

Compass Cottage Comforts
The house is well appointed, beautifully clean and the owner is very friendly and helpful. There was a generous welcome basket. There were six adults in our party and we managed well by using the downstairs utiility room as a third ensuite for the couple sleeping downstairs. (The upstairs rooms have sloping ceiings so although there are double beds it would be hard to get into bed from both sides of the bed.) We loved the local walks and other beautiful places not far away.

Perfect getaway
We had a lovely few days staying at Compass Cottage and exploring the amazing local areas. The house was clean and bright and spacious, and had everything we needed. The manager went out of her way to make sure we had the best time, even when our plans changed a little, and there were nice little touches, like fresh bread and biscuits for us when we checked in. Overall a great place to stay - and the location is amazing.

Wonderful holiday in beautiful location
Compass Cottage is the perfect holiday house in an idyllic village setting. Wendy went to so much effort to make the house Covid safe which was very much appreciated. It is extremely well equipped and very comfortable. There are plenty of walks you can do from the house and nearby. We hope to return again soon!

Comfortable, spacious and in a good location
Our booking had originally been for late May/early June but had to be postponed because of Coronavirus. The property owner was very flexible about changing the booking and kept in regular contact as the situation with the virus changed. In the property itself it was clear she had taken great care to make sure that hygiene levels took account of Government advice. It's a spacious and well equipped house, warm and comfortable during a particularly wet and windy week. We would stay there again.

Loveley cottage in a lovely setting
We were 5 adults and 4 children, ranging from age 3yrs to 76. The property is very spacious and accomodating for large families. The views, and the walks right from the doorstop were stunning, and it is also conveniently located to explore other popular spots on the coast. We enjoyed our stay at Compass Cottage very much, and made for a wonderful family holiday.

Family get together
We stayed for a week with our extended family of 8 adults and 2 children to celebrate husbands 60th. Despite the stormy weather we had a fantastic time. New Year’s Eve
We stayed here for 3 nights over the new year period - 6 adults and 5 children (16 months, 2, 2, 5 and 10) ! We were after a big communal space and this property certainly had that ! The lounge was huge !! The entire property was clean, welcoming and cosy throughout, it had everything you could possibly need and more !! It’s in a very remote location with very few amenities nearby - the nearest co op Shop is a good 5 minute drive away - the village has a tea room, a pub, a small pond and a small park. However swanage is also only a 10 minute drive away ... The owner kept in such good contact, ensuring everything was right for us upon arrival - after check in and after we departed .. I would highly recommend this house to anyone looking for a large relaxing / coastal get away

Wonderful stay in Purbeck
We stayed with our three married children and their partners for four nights in November 2019 and we were all very impressed by the property. The front room is very large yet still inviting and warm. The kitchen is very well equipped, we cooked a number of meals there and had everything we needed, including sharp knives! The front bedroom has amazing views across the fields to the sea, and the other bedrooms had really good beds. One of the bedrooms is a little small for a couple but we managed perfectly well. The area is beautiful and we enjoyed some lovely walks from the property down to the sea and along the coast path. The arrival arrangements provided by Wendy were clear and she contacted us soon after our arrival to ensure everything was OK. The little extras (milk, bread, biscuits etc) provided for our stay were also very welcome. We really enjoyed our time at Compass Cottage and we would certainly like to return to there in the future.

Great for families
We had a lovely week at Compass Cottage. The house was perfect for a family get together with a really big living room. Well stocked with all we needed both in the kitchen and toys and games for the children. Worth Matravers is great. Close to lots of attractions as well as beautiful walks. The pub is definitely worth a visit! Wendy's communications were very good, clear and helpful. Would recommend a stay here!

Wonderful stay at Compass Cottage
We had a wonderful stay at Compass Cottage. It was lovely warm, clean, cosy cottage. The view from the cottage is stunning. There were 8 of us & so much room for us all. We enjoyed dinner in the tea rooms & a drink in the pub. So many walks from the cottage as well. Great place to stay, just a shame our trip was only a few days. We would all love to return one day. Lovely for groups
Lovely property in a super position that catered for a group of 6 old friends. Although 2 of us shared a room we all had our own beds; we are beyond climbing into bunks and most properties catering for 6 involve sharing beds or bunks! The kitchen was very well set up for us to cook in the evening which we did every night, no drinking and driving for us! The only minor quibble was that the 2 showers were not really functioning at the same time, but we got around that! I would recommend this residence highly. Many thanks to Wendy for being a helpful host.

A lovely home in a great location
We were three generations of one family and we had a great holiday. The house was extremely well equipped and in excellent condition. The fine weather enabled us to spend a lot of time outside, relaxing in the private garden or walking in beautiful countryside. The very spacious living areas meant that we could all spread out in the evenings for meals, games, and conversation. We highly recommend Compass Cottage.

Excellent property
Beautiful house very well equiped in a fabulous location. Wendy, the owner, was there to welcome us and to check we had everything we needed but was not intrusive in any way. A very enjoyable and relaxing holiday.
