Great vacation
Can’t say enough good things about this property. Jim was super easygoing through the entire process. The cabin is such an awesome property, and is far away enough but still within reason to restaurants and shopping centers. Tunk Lake is so peaceful and the views from the dock are breathtaking. Anyone looking to get away to an awesome cabin in a tranquil setting this is for you. We will most certainly be coming back!!

Peace and privacy
Loon chatter on the lake, the change of seasons right before our eyes, and the okay to bring our dog made this a special vacation. Such a beautiful spot with so much privacy! It felt like a real disconnect from "normal" life. Much needed and much appreciated.

Beautiful Lake House
Taylor Camp is on a beautiful and quiet lake that’s really the star of the show. The house is comfortable, well laid out for a family, well equipped, and nicely kept. We especially enjoyed sitting on the screen porch and listening to the loons at night. We enjoyed our stay and hope to come back at point in the future.

Perfect getaway

Amazing vacation!
The cabin is beautiful and spacious, and has everything we could have asked for. We loved the location...very quiet and secluded, but close enough to shopping, restaurants, etc. We enjoyed canoeing, kayaking, and just relaxing at the cabin; we also made several trips to Mount Desert Island for hiking, whale watching, etc. The owner was extremely helpful, answering questions before we even booked and providing a lot of info about the cabin, the area, restaurants, etc. before we arrived. Awesome time for the whole family!

Family get away
Terrific restful and private escape to the beauty of nature and crystal clears waters of Tunk Lake. We loved kayaking, canoeing, and snorkeling as well as venturing over to Acadia national park for several days of hiking. The cabin was fully stocked, clean and comfortable. The beds were comfy and the layout was perfect! Thank you!

Peace and plenty
Came with family and found this vacation rental to be one of the best I have stayed at in the last 25 years. It is comfortable while remaining stylish. The kitchen is well stocked for meal preparation. The porch is large and a great place to read and unwind. I especially loved the time spent on the lake in the canoe provided. It was so private, quiet and peaceful. I had my two year old grandchild and was a little concerned about safety but the Taylor cabin was thoughtfully prepared for little ones with latch locks on the porch and a baby gate for the stairs. The cabin is in close proximity to Winter Harbor and Acadia Schoodic Peninsula which is a lot quieter than the main park and every bit as beautiful. Nearby is Chippers restaurant and the food is excellent though it's more a place for adult and not children (make reservations). The lobster pounds close by offer a good variety of seafood and the prices are low. We had everything that we needed at this cabin and it was hard to end our two week vacation! I really didn't want to leave. I deeply appreciate the Taylor's sharing their family retreat with travelers.

Perfect escape to Maine
This place was the perfect place to relax and unwind while taking in the beauty of Maine. We loved the pricacy, the tranquil kayaking, the soothing sound if the loons, and the nature walks each morning. The camp is close to all you would want to do if you want to take in the sites as well. We stayed a week and wish it we would have stayed 2!

Absolutely Beautiful
We absolutely loved our stay at this amazing place. This cabin is so clean, cozy and quiet. Jim definitely thought of everything to make our stay perfect. We took long walks in the evening where all we could hear was the loons and the owls, pure relaxation. We loved taking the canoe out where the view of the mountains was just beautiful, and the feeling of peace and calm was like no other. We will forever hold this special place in our hearts.

Pristine cabin and location
We enjoyed how thoughtfully supplied the Taylor camp is. The lake is perfect for swimming and kayaking - some of the most pleasant water ever. My kids found the location a little remote since we rarely even heard another person but the adults really loved this aspect!

Just as wonderful as it sounds!
We just can't say enough of how wonderful this vacation home is and how much we enjoyed our stay. Everything is well cared for and designed with comfort and relaxation in mind. This is a very secluded private getaway with lots of opportunities to unwind and relax. The surrounding Bar harbor/Acadia area has a ton of outdoor hiking and sightseeing venues so you will never be bored. We look forward to another stay next year!

Wonderful!!
Thank you, Jim, for a wonderful vacation!! Taylor Camp was everything we imagined and more! It was so relaxing and we immensely enjoyed having the dock to sit and having access to the boats to kayak/canoe! We also brought our own floats and had such fun floating and splashing around on the BEAUTIFUL and CLEAR Tunk Lake. The peace and serenity was amazing. The kids always found the woods and the water to be entertaining, and we had game night most evenings. We LOVED exploring Acadia and Bar Harbor…just beautiful! The cabin was clean and stocked with anything and everything we could’ve wanted (minus a space heater, lol, as the first night or two were unseasonably cold). It was a fantastic week and we look forward to returning at some point!

Beautiful Cabin on the Lake
Beautiful clean quiet cabin on the lake. Family took out the kayaks and the canoe almost every day. Surrounded by beautiful nature. We also took a few trips to Acadia National Park. Everything was as listed and you very well taken care of for all to enjoy. Owner could not be more accommodating. Answered all questions beforehand and made sure we had all necessary information to enter the camp and enjoy our stay. Hope to return one day!

BLISS!!
Booking this dream of a vacation spot was as much of a joy as was our family break there. Jim Taylor was a delight in assisting us. Always super helpful & prompt to respond. The cabin is perfect. The view from the porch is divine. Having breakfast there became the start to our day we couldn’t do without. Taking in the sights, sounds & smells in this private, wooded location, while walking around the grounds is a family joy we sorely miss. The cabin was comfortable, warm, & well kept. We also kayaked, hiked, boated, saw sea tortoise & white finned dolphins, ate great local food, bought some stunning pottery & wool garments from some lovely local artists, met wonderful folk & soaked up the beautiful landscapes. Btw, Schoodic point is not to be missed! Nearly everyone we met who lives in Ellsworth gushed when we told them where we were staying. The lack of internet service my family & I are used to was worth ditching for the bliss of this private, quiet getaway. So much so, we’ve already booked our vacation time here for next year. This gem is an incredible find. You’ll be hard pushed to find better for the price.

Absolutely Beautiful Cabin on Tunk Lake
This cabin was really Beautiful. The cabin was extremely clean and everything looked new and worked perfectly. The beds were extremely comfortable and the decorations in the cabin were wonderful. This is a Great place for a family vacation. The owner Jim Tylor could not have been nicer person and he supplied a lot of information about places to visit and restaurants to eat at. He was a Truely a Super Host.

Perfect Getaway!
We had an amazing time at the Taylor Camp and can not wait to go back! The Camp is secluded off a gated dirt road which allows plenty of privacy. We were able to wake up every morning to the beautiful Lake and listen to the wonderful sounds of the Loons. We visited Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor which is roughly an hour away. There was an 86 mile ATV trail about a mile from the house as well which we took full advantage of! I highly Recommend this house for a Family Vacation.

Perfect!
If you are looking for a quiet, remote and beautiful vacation, Taylor Camp is it. Loved that we practically saw no one the entire week we were on vacation. The cabin was perfectly and completely equipped. We felt lucky to have had the opportunity to spend a week at the cabin and feel the owners are so incredibly generous to offer their cabin for others to rent and experience a week on a pretty amazing Maine Lake. One final note is that we are completely local to the area and have spent time on Tunk Lake and surrounding lakes over the years, mostly camping. It is not by chance that we picked this cabin to stay at. Even for us locals, it was an obvious good choice. Thank you!!!

Relaxing vacation
Our family enjoyed a relaxing stay on Tunk lake. The property was roomy for our family of 5 and the location was very quiet and peaceful. We could not see any other homes from the property. We enjoyed kayaking and canoeing and hiking. Bar Harbor & Acadia National park were about 45 mins away. Jim was great and made sure we had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay.

Beautiful Location
The house was beautiful - it was right on the lake. My family and I very much enjoyed our stay. There were kayaks and canoes on the property that we were able to take out on the lake (life jackets were also available at the house.). It was a 40 minute drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia. Overall, the house was amazing.

Better than AMAZING!
Our stay at Taylor Camp was absolutely perfect! The communication with Jim was very open and thorough from the very beginning. He completely understood our need for a private vacation spot to reconnect as a family during these crazy times and even let our dog Sammy stay with us. That was so important to us because she is just as much a part of our family. The cabin was nice and clean, the layout was open, and the screened-in porch was perfect for playing a hand of cards or just listening to the loons while reading a book and enjoying the fresh air. Our last night a storm rolled in and we sat on the porch and watched the lighting light up the lake and listened to the thunder rolling in. It was nature at its best while staying safe and dry. The kitchen has all new updated appliances which was fabulous, and the washer and dryer were right there as well; and with 3 kids that was a huge thumbs up! The cabinets and drawers have every cookware or kitchen tool you need to make family meals easy. It is all very organized. Now to the part everyone would want to know...Would I stay here again? ABSOLUTELY! I can’t wait to book again! Thank you Jim for sharing your fabulous home!

Breathtaking camp and Lake
Our week on Tunk Lake was outstanding. We have rented on many ponds and lakes in Maine and this is the first camp we hope to return to. Taylor camp is beautifully laid out inside and out. I love to cook and was impressed with the offering of appliances and kitchen tools along with a camp cookbook which I added a recipe! We also rented a boat from Bob @ Downeast Boat rental so we could further explore the lake and go fishing. Bob was wonderful.....took us out to show us the ropes as there are many boulders to avoid. The beauty and privacy offered really helped make our vacation memorable.... Thanks Jim

Hi Carol, Thanks for the wonderful review. We try hard to please and are pro-active in trying to anticipate maintenance issues. You enjoyed the new glass top stove and in the next few weeks hope to replace the dishwasher, microwave over the stove and 2 new toilets. A new refrigerator is on order. We loved our stay on Tunk Lake so much. It was peaceful, beautiful and had everything we could possibly need for a week by the lake. We canoe'd and kayaked and floated on the lake, listened to the loons, watched the tiny red squirrels and marveled at the Perseid meteor showers laying out on the dock. The kids played ping pong in the basement and we read in the hammock. The beds, couch and chairs were all very comfortable. The kitchen is well appointed with pots, pans and everything you need to cook for a group. It was a very relaxing and wonderfully frictionless experience. I would love to return to Tunk Lake!

Wonderful cottage & location!
The Taylor camp is just wonderful! Very spacious with the four bedrooms and a great open concept. There were only two of us using it but it would be super for a larger family. The screen porch is lovely and the cabin was equipped with everything you need. It is very private with a lovely lake view off the floating dock. Having access to the kayaks was great and the lake is a lot of fun to explore. Jim, the camp's owner was incredible to work with - very responsive to every detail. Tunk Lake is a gem and close to great hiking and the Schoodic peninsula for exploring. We very much hope to return again and would highly recommend the Taylor Camp.!

Excellent getaway that is beautiful and peaceful
The house had everything we needed and wanted. You walked out of the front door and down to the dock. Being in the kayaks on the lake made it very peaceful. The screened in porch was great so we could sit out and not have to worry about the mosquitoes. April was wonderful to work with. She met us and gave us the keys, showed us around, and made us welcome to call her with any questions or concerns. The property was exactly as described and pictured. All communication with the owner in renting went well. Everything was timely and as explained. I would definitely rent again. Thank you for sharing this peaceful place with us. We enjoyed our time here.

Awesome lakeside cabin!
We enjoyed our stay at Taylor camp. Nice cabin home with lots of space, very comfortable and the weather was perfect. Caught 2 salmon in the lake! Ate Maine lobster until we couldn't fit but somehow had plenty of room for their famous blueberry pie! Lots of hiking and plenty to do. Visited some farms and bought fresh organic produce. Also bought freshly picked strawberries near by, so delicious. Even went to Campobello Island Canada for a day.

This place is beautiful and has everything you need for a great vacation on the lake.
Plenty of room! The only thing you need to bring is your food! Spacious log cabin. Canoe and several kayaks to use to explore this huge, clear, beautiful lake.

Camp Taylor is a little piece of heaven!
This was our first trip to Maine and we will definitely be back! Camp Taylor was beautiful and had everything we needed. Jim (the owner) is awesome and so responsive! We had an issue with the washer during our stay and within a couple hours Rob (maintenance) was there to replace the whole thing...he was in and out and very helpful! This was by far our best vacation! Thanks Jim for sharing your little piece of heaven with us!

Beautiful place!
The house and property are very well maintained, inside and out. There are local folks (April and Rob) available if you need them and Jim checked in to see that we arrived safely. The road in is gated and locked limiting access to the camps along this shore ensuring privacy. This "camp" is well equipped for you to enjoy all of your meals right on the lake. We loved the screened in porch as we were able to enjoy sitting outside without the hassle of insects. Plenty of water craft is provided to enjoy beautiful Tunk Lake with easy access via the dock. Swimming was delightful. There is plenty to do without being a tourist and plenty to do if you are touring. You can explore the mountains directly across from Jim's place and those in the surrounding area. Little Tunk Lake is also worth a look. Lastly, the silence is wonderfully deafening!
