the location is good the hotel is falling apart the furniture is rotting the internet is lousy and its tobad Antigua need decent affordable hotels.

Reception team were very helpful and there was a nice swimming pool, but the hotel felt run-down. Catering was haphazard so we bought food from the large supermarket 10 mins walk away to cook in the room. Nice balcony to sit and watch the view.

Thank you for your review. I shall let reception know of their helpfulness. Our restaurant is privately leased but they have let us down so we have ended their contract. We are also in the middle of lots of changes and in the near future there will be a full refurbishment. I do hope you will come back at the end of our renovations some time later this year.

Dear Euhlah, I sincerely apologize for the "NO Restaurant Service" The restaurant is privately owned and recently they have been having limited opening hours. We have ended the contract with them and so from February 1st. another arrangement will be in place. I am very sorry to know you were affected.

Dear Jenner, having checked your booking it appears you arrived after our front desk was closed and left early the following morning. Our security guard is trained to check guests in after hours. I am sorry you did not get the opportunity to interact with our staff. Not sure what happened with the hot water but all our rooms o have hot water. I can only think that early morning the water may have had to run for a little while to heat up. I am very sorry about that.

The property is being renovated and the restaurant is no longer owned by the Inn. Great little rooms, pool was nice and clean, but stop and grab some groceries just in case the restaurant isn't open yet. They do still serve breakfast while the new restaurant owners are getting ready for full service meals. Girls at the front desk are a joy and very knowledgeable.

Internet and cable are unreliable. The server and router are installed but the service is intermittent. Phone was constantly trying to relocate signal. As per announcement I expected transportation. There was not a shuttle to/ from airport they don't provide this service. On weekdays the Restaurant operate from 7-10 am for breakfast and 7- 9 for dinner. There is no food or vending machines to get anything to eat on location in between these hours. Front desk redirect guests to walk to nearest supermarket (estimate 1/2 mile) in a street without sidewalks. Pool and surroundings needed maintenance. Nicely decorated for Christmas! Clean room, sheets and towels.

Thank you for your practical review. Off and on our internet service seem to fail us. We did have to change a router recently which was damaged by heavy winds and rain. I am so sorry, we do not offer shuttle service so I will have to delve into where this information is coming from. The restaurant is usually open all day, but when it is quiet they open for breakfast and dinner and usually keeps a check on who will be needing lunches. I do apologize for that. Again thank you for your review, I hope you will come back soon when we are able to serve you better.

Good for a quick stay on Antigua
For the quick stay that I had on Antigua, this was a great spot to be based out of. The price is reasonable. The staff is great and very helpful. The shuttle from the airport (as advertised on their website) is no longer in service.

Very friendly staff, but rooms are really outdated. I keep reading about upgrades, but during my stay I didn't see anything happening. Internet connection was pretty good. Restaurant has limited menu and not everything was available;

Thank you for your comments we always appreciate feed back. Our rooms are in the process of being upgraded. Not sure which room you occupied but furniture and appliances are being upgraded. We are doing it slowly. The restaurant is privately leased but I shall certainly mention your concerns to the chef.

Honest Assessment of the Anchorage Inn
Staff were excellent. The reception area is clean and in a fairly good condition. However the rest if the hotel does not fare as well. Premises badly in need of a make over. Fabric tired. Facilities non existent. No tea or coffee in rooms although there is a coffee maker in some rooms with a microwave while others have a kettle with microwave. There are fridges in the rooms. Very disappointing.

Thank you for your honest review it is always appreciated. We are in the process of upgrading we are doing the rooms one by one hopefully within the year the premises should have a new look. All our rooms are equipped with coffee maker or kettle microwave refrigerator and cable. I do not understand "facilities non existent." coffee and tea are usually put in rooms. I apologize if you did not receive any. Hope you will return sometime later to enjoy the refurbished premises.

The property need to upgrade. The toilet shakes plenty when you sit on it. The bathroom rusty. No ironing board in the room

We are in the process of upgrading, hopefully by the next busy season we will be ready. I wish you had told us about the shaky toilet we do have maintenance on property this could have been rectified instantly. I will ask all housekeepers to check to ensure no one else experiences this. We will be changing most tubs to showers very shortly. There is an an ironing board at reception which once requested will be taken to your room immediately. I am sorry for the inconveniences but thank you for letting us know. We hope you will come back another day soon after we have refurbished.

Proper ongoing maintenance was allowed to deteriorate, the quality of the building is in need of a refit and repair to an acceptable level befitting a property on the Anchorage drive, there is a lack of professionalism in the front office staff, and that should be kept even when all around you is falling apart, when lacking it over shadow the brilliant effort being made by employees trying to put a positive spin on things.

Dear Ms. Christian, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Within a month or so the Anchorage will be undergoing major repairs and refurbishing. I am not sure who attended to you at the front desk but we do have 2 staff on probation at the moment. I wish I could get some more information regarding this. We are aware of the maintenance issues, there is a lot to be done but we do strive for excellent service to our guests. I do hope you will com back again after a few months after we have renovated. I apologize for any inconvenience caused.

I am very sorry you got wet going to your room . Unfortunately this one of the few areas that is not covered. We do have umbrellas at reception for that reason. Apparently due to the dry weather a lot of leaves were in the guttering and when the rains came the guttering over flowed. This has since been cleared.

The property is a bit out of the way, there was a grocery store within walking distance. Air-conditioned, nice grounds. The rooms could use some updating, quaint and a secure feeling. Nice deck. Down side was shower and toilet not in the best working order, the pool was dirty. What was a real plus was the great staff and the little restaurant quite frankly had some of the best food in Antigua. For the money not bad.

Thank you very much for such honest comments. I have asked maintenance to go through the rooms and check all toilets and showers. I have to apologize for our pool. Recently the hotel was fully booked, for a few days the pool was in full use and our daily maintenance was not enough so although it was clean it did appear cloudy. I hope you wil come back another day when we will serve you better.

This is a 3-Star accommodation - do not expect resort style status. I stayed there Feb. 20-27/19. For me location was great - a nice walk into St.Johns, $8 taxi ride. Hotel is rustic and could do with a little TLC but always clean, has a nice pool and restaurant. Had a few gliches with first room but staff attentive and tried to rectify but when not possible did a quick upgrade to a nice room overlooking pool. This is a family run hotel for past 20 years by 3 sisters and a friend who try so hard to give you a comfortable stay - I found them approachable and so friendly - the housekeeping staff were awesome. I would definitely go back to stay there again and wish the ladies all the best - you were great.

The office closes quite early,providing access to my room only by walking around the side towards the back,it was scary since I was alone. When the office is closed so is the switch board,in case of an emergency you cannot call out.the WIFi is very weak.

I am sorry you were uncomfortable while here. We do have a security guard on premises from 7.00pm to 7.00am. He sits under the covered deck just where one passes to go to the back. The front desk closes at 8.00pm but the security guard answerers all calls directed to the switch board. He also checks in all guests arriving after 8.00pm. He is usually very visible and very helpful. I am sorry he was not around to escort you to your room. He may have been making his checks at that time. He also has a cell number , the number is at the back of your front door. When he is on his rounds guests can call him on that phone.

Out of Town country stay
Anchorage inn is in the countryside 2 miles from st johns and a mile from Dickenson Bay.It is on a dark road at night.There is a good 1st choice supermarket nearby.Whenever I moved there was no kettle, no microwave, no gas cylinder for the gas cooker and the H and C in the shower was the wrong way round.However I only needed to tell them what was wrong and they sorted it out the next day.However I was given a gas kettle so had to get some matches to light the gas! The staff were friendly and helped where they could.They found out if a bus was in the area otherwise taxis could be ordered.the other guests were also quite friendly and helpful sharing transport.It was a large room with a large King size bed with a nice outlook on the nature reserve.There were pelicans and storks nearby .However some dog owners let their dogs roam out on the road.They were a bit intimidating at times but did not generally cause an excessive problem .It is only a mile to Dickenson Bay where there is a nice beach and catarman trips can be booked.However a bit out of town for st johns.I went mostly for the cricket but the ground is 5 miles the other side of st johns.

so sorry you had such experiences. I will ask about thread bare towels because we buy towels by the cases every 4 months. We were certainly not aware of the toilet situation, we have maintenance on property who fixes these things in a jiffy. I apologize profusely for the above.

I booked through Expedia since November 2018. When I reached on January 18, 2019, there was NO booking for me in the hotel. The hotel was fully booked. I booked a room that was supposed to house two persons in it. At my suggestion, a bed was brought from another room to "make" it a double occupancy room. I don't even know if i got what I paid for. I was offered two rooms - but I had to pay for it had i taken two rooms - so i declined and made the suggestion above. The above solution was only possible because there was an unused room for which the AC was not working, so we used the bed from it. The young lady at the front desk was absolutely and remarkably helpful. The service meted out by the support team, even the cleaners - was thrilling to say the least.

Sorry about the mixup, All our rooms are double occupancy the smaller rooms can only fit one double bed. I can just assume that you were sharing and not a couple. We always have extra beds to accommodate persons sharing. So although some of our larger rooms usually have one double bed they can be easily outfitted with 2 beds. Thank you for your kind comments about the staff, I shall certainly pass on the message.

The room was pretty much at the lowest end, I suppose for the price ........very old big tv poor picture inefficient wifi. Wouldnt take the room for more than one night or to utilise it much during the stay. Ok for put down your bag get out come back and sleep stay. Of course there were much better rooms on the property

We appreciate your feed back. We do have 3 category rooms and only our standard rooms have not yet been completely refurbished. Very soon we will have no more big back TVs. I would like to offer you an upgrade the next time you visit. because I would like you to experience our superior or studios where there are 32 and 40" flat screen TVs and king size beds and with pool and sea views. Hope you consider staying with us again.

I’m really disappointed the room was what I was looking for. Ants where on the wall right on top of the bed. Internet service on the hotel was extremely terrible I wanted to use my time to study in a quite area I couldn’t do that without any internet connection. I’m really disappointed please help.

I am very sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your room. We have 3 category rooms and would have happily upgraded you if you were not satisfied ,had reported same.. We have unlimited WiFi and do not usually have a problem, so not sure what happened there. We do all in our power to make our guests comfortable so please if you report faults we will certainly pay attention. Ants can so easily get into the rooms we are always on the look out. We do have a pest control program and try to keep our rooms ant free but a mere crumb attracts them, I am very sorry about the ants we will be more vigilant in the future. Thank you for your comments it does help us to keep up our standards.

Very good hotel. I will definitely come back ————————————————————— This review is based on my six day stay at Anchorage Inn from 12/25 to 12/31 /2018 so it is more balanced than a review based on 1 or 2 days stay which could go way off either towards good or bad based on one single experience. If you are paying up to $80/day during peak winter season for this hotel I would say 4 star is appropriate, bring it down as you pay more because my rating system is based on how much perceived value the hotel offers for the price charged. I arrived at 11.30 pm the security guard checked me in and offered me bottled water and a can of cold beer which was really nice after a long tiring flight. The room was generously sized with high ceilings, it was quite neat and clean. Beds were comfortable with clean sheets. In the shower hot water pressure and temperature was adequate. Room A/C works well. The only complain I have is the WiFi which is spotty, I would give it a ‘D’ grade. The furniture looked a little dated but is quite functional, well remember it is a budget hotel. The front desk is very nice and cooperative they go out of the way to help you. They guided me on how to take the local buses which proved cost effective. They contact the Route 50 bus if it is in the area and tell it to stop for a pick up. I needed to heat a frozen pizza but found that the oven in my room was not working, front desk helped out by having the chef in the attached restaurant kitchen heat it in-spite of
