Nice getaway

Great Bear Cabin!
We loved the Bear Cabin and the extensive bear theming that made it feel special. Great location within longer walking distance to the town. Was easy to get the available boats on the water and great lake views!

Beautiful setting on Lake Colby
We generally were happy with our stay at bear cabin. The owner was very responsive to any and all items that came up. General cleanliness was a bit low in our opinion, but given the setting and beautiful lake view from the picture window we were able to overlook that. We did need to cut our visit short for personal reasons, but would rent at the location again. Proximity to the lake cannot be beat/ boats available to use and an abundance of fish to keep the kids and well myself busy even with sub par weather. The local community was great offering advice on tackle and things to do. Seems like the town of saranac is going through some improvements, lots of construction making parking difficult, but the addition of a rail trail will make this an even better location to visit in the future.

Owners very responsive. Views were fantastic. Kitchen is well stocked. Can't get much closer to the water. Had an issue with the fireplace and the owners responded immediately. Thank you!

Disappointing
The cabin was indeed right on the lake. However, the pics did not reflect what it really looked like. Overall, a bit shabby.The beds were uncomfortable, the blinds did not work, and although we paid a clean up fee we were asked to strip the beds, bag up linen and towels, and bag up all the trash. What is the clean up fee for?

This guest never communicated with us during the stay except upon departure. We take guest feedback seriously and respond right away if any issues are reported. New blinds are being installed. The pictures for this cabin are very accurate and an accurate floor plan is provided with the photos. Other guests have told us the beds are comfortable. Since Covid we have asked guests to bag their linens to protect our housekeeping staff who certainly do much more than strip beds. Our guests’ experience is of the highest importance to us. Prompt communication from our guests helps ensure our ability to address any concerns immediately.

Beautiful Lake Cabin
My daughter and I had a great stay at Bear Cabin. We relaxed by the lake, took some great hikes and ate some amazing food at the local restaurants. The owner were very responsive to all our questions and needs - much appreciated.

Skying and sightseeing
Nice cabin had all the items in the kitchen towels hot shower and very clean. Beautiful Scenery and view to the lake and location to town groceries restaurant and Lake placid. Just know that the driveway down to cabin you need a 4 well drive or a good SUV . We enjoyed our stay and loved the coszy cabin.

Our stay at Bear Cabin was great. It was cozy and clean. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed and the location was close to the town of Saranac Lake as well as Lake Placid area.

Cozy Christmas Cabin
Overall this was an amazing home away from home. The weather was below freezing all 3 nights of our stay, but the gas fireplace kept it cozy. The only negative aspect was how cold the floors were, but the wool socks were a great barrier. Owners did say that they would be putting in area rugs to help with the cold. Owners were quick to respond to questions and concerns, and very responsive to our very few needs. We would book this place in a heartbeat, should we be looking for a place to stay in the Saranac Lake area.

We truly appreciate our guests’ feedback. In addition to adding rugs to the cabin, we now have a heater under the floor. We recently stayed on a very cold weekend and had a very cozy experience.

Thanksgiving Getaway
My wife and I stayed at the Bear cabin along with our dog. We had a great time, the cabin was well appointed, clean and very comfortable. We had absolutely no issues but during the rental process Huda was quick to respond to my questions. We would absolutely stay again if we were to visit Saranac Lake again!

Great location
We had a great time here. Very nice location right on the lake. Cabin was clean and had all the things we needed including a nice kitchen, clean bathroom, comfortable bedrooms, fireplace. Highly recommend.

This cabin was absolutely beautiful! So clean, quiet and the location was perfect!. We really enjoyed the lake as well. Great views and the sunsets were amazing!! All around our stay was so relaxing which is what we all needed! We definitely will come back again!!

Great Getaway
Our family rented 3 cabins. We loved the views. We really appreciated the availability of the kayaks, boats and canoes. The dock was great for the little ones to fish from and the lake had easy access for swimming. Cabins were well stocked w necessities and we appreciated the basket. Communication with owner was excellent. We did have a few issues during our stay. The hot water tank had to be replaced but, if we wanted hot water, we had no choice. Service was prompt and friendly. The firewood must have been wet because we couldn’t get much of it to light and what we were able to light smoked like crazy. The grills were in bad need of cleaning. We had very few garbage bags and the pullout for the garbage cans in Bear cottage would only pull out halfway, making it very difficult to access the recycle bin. Suggestion-a bit more clear and thorough set of instructions for operating the A/C - heating units would have been appreciated. Took us a couple of days to figure it out. Overall, we had a great time, were impressed w the amenities and hope to return in the future. Our grandchildren said - “ It was their best vacation ever.”

We appreciate all of our guests feedback and follow up on any issues promptly. If we had known about the garbage cans, wet wood or confusion with the remote for the heat, we would have responded immediately with a fix to the garbage cans, more wood and quick instructions for the remote. Communication is necessary for us to address any issues that may come up.

Weekend get away
Very cute cabin with updated kitchen and cable/Wi-Fi. The owners respond very quickly to questions. Great location for Saranac Lake and Lake Placid. Lovely view of Lake Colby and fire pits right next to lake.

Perfect cabin and beautiful lake!
We stayed for a long weekend before kids went back to school. We brought our dog and everyone had a blast! Beautiful cabin on the lake. Everything you need for a relaxing stay! We fished the lake with provided boats, grilled on a charcoal grill (loved that it was charcoal) really brought back memories of my childhood! We treated it as a device free weekend and really connected with our kids! So worth it!! We will be back.

Great Experience!
Our family had a great time. The cabin was great with a beautiful yard over looking the lake. It was really nice not to have to bring your own linens and towels. No need to grocery shop prior to travel, the town grocery store TOPS was clean and has everything you need as well as very friendly service. The owner Huda was very responsive and friendly! Thank you Huda! We had a really nice week and look forward to visiting again!

Perfect lake stay!
This cabin was everything we hoped for on our Saranac Lake trip. The cabin is clean and comfortable and has everything you need. The grounds are right on the lake with a dock, boat rack with canoes and kayaks, nice fire pit and chairs, and there's a little city beach right next door to walk to. 5 mins from town and all the amenities. We'll be back!

Bear Cabin
Enjoyed a relaxing long weekend at Bear Cabin- so much so that we stayed an extra night. The kitchen was well sized and well stocked that we were able to cook our meals and enjoy them together at the dining table over looking the lake. The hosts were super responsive and quickly addressed any issues that arose. We will definitely return as a couple and are entertaining the idea of returning with extended family as there are a total of 4 cabins on property and could see us all enjoying time together during the day yet having our own space to relax and regroup.

Good but not quite what we expected.
The view out the window onto Lake Colby was great. And we loved the fire place. The kitchen was beautiful, though we hardly used it. We liked breakfast at the Blue Moon Cafe in Lake Saranac village. And the cabin is located very near to Lake Placid which we love! We did find the cabin’s bedrooms to be very dark. And the lamp in the second bedroom on the right needs to be repaired - it constantly flickered. Since we used the closet light to get by, we didn’t want to bother the owner. We were there for only three nights. On one of those nights we had neighbors in an adjacent cabin who were pretty loud. Not so much we needed to call the police, but loud enough to lessen our enjoyment of our cabin when we wanted to read by the fire. In terms of the listing, the rooms were shown as large bright rooms. That was definitely not the case. We were hoping the cabin was a little remote. When we sat outside to enjoy the lake, we could hear the traffic on Rte 86.

We make it crystal clear in our communications with guests that we and our caretaker are available should they need anything during their stay. To utter not a word about a flickering light, yet be bothered enough to include it in a review is not fair communication. In addition, if a neighbor's sound level is bothering a guest, a simple remedy is to text the owner or caretaker and we will immediately contact that guest and correct the situation. We could have fixed both issues in a matter of minutes and we encourage all guests to reach out to us or our caretaker for any assistance and we will be happy to help.

Very nice property and view of the lake.
Modern rustic designed cabin! Very cute property and views from the cabin. There was many places to hike nearby as well. The floors of the cabin were a little sticky and dirty but overall it was pretty clean. Had proper utensils and pots to cook with too. Would stay again.

Winter wonderland cabin
We had a terrific time staying at this cabin on the lake. It was just as the pictures show and a perfect getaway for my husband, two children and I. The cabin was warm and cozy. We were able to go to Lake Placid and Whiteface easily while also enjoying being on a lake to ice fish and close to the town of Saranac. We had a terrific time and our hosts were available if we had any issues. Thank you!

Cozy Cabin of my Dreams!
We had the best 4 days at this cozy lakeside cabin! It was the perfect outpost for our time exploring the Adirondacks, a great central location to everything in the area including skiing, ice fishing and exploring Olympic village. The cabin itself was super clean and charming, the fireplace roaring as soon as we walked in. The amenities were great, towels, hairdryer, sheets, shampoo, toilet paper and paper towels and a kitchen full of supplies to make meals at home. Highly recommend and will be back this summer

Perfect Winter Get-Away
My Brother and I thoroughly enjoyed our 5 night winter stay. For us the location was perfect for outdoor activities and town activities. Situated on a frozen lake with a nice snow base, Cross Country skiing out the door was perfect around the lake and had direct access to the rail-trail. The lake itself had a lot of ice fishing activity and thinking next time will have to take advantage of it (large Perch and Trout from the fishermen I chatted with). The cabin itself was extremely comfortable with the gas fire place, nice kitchen and comfortable cabin like atmosphere. Internet was solid and had no issues with "working for home" (video meetings) when I had to work. Huda (owner) and Ben (care taker) were very friendly. responsive and nice to work with. Will definitely repeat a Winter Get-Away again in the future here..................

Wonderful cabin stay
We had a wonderful stay in the Bear cabin! Everything was nice and comfortable. The cabin is located directly on the lake which makes for beautiful scenery and serene sounds. The cabin is well-stocked with linens, kitchen supplies and a basket of extra self-care items with things that one may have forgotten at home. The only things we missed were coffee creamer and sugar. We will definitely stay again if we come back to the Adirondacks!

The house was very nice and very cozy with a fireplace. The kitchen was clean and updated. We enjoyed using the fire pit at night and loved being right on the lake. The property owner was easy to communicate with And responded to texts quickly. I would definitely recommend staying here.

Great Property for Families
This is a beautiful, well maintained property in a great location. My family and I stayed in Bear cabin which the owners furnished with all the comforts of home. The owners were very responsive, promptly answering any questions we had. Lake Colby is a quiet peaceful lake perfect for canoeing, kayaking, fishing and swimming. It's a short 2-minute walk to a public beach and 30-minutes from many trails and high peaks. While there we enjoyed a hike up Baker Mountain and a trip to the Wild Center, both great for young children. This was a great experience overall and we're looking forward to booking a return trip in 2021.

Cute lakeside cabin
The cabin was easy to find and get into. The lake was very pretty at sunset and the yard perfect for grilling and sitting by a fire pit. The cabin itself is very dark and several of the lightbulbs were out. Also, we couldn’t figure out how to adjust the thermostat. Overall a nice cabin if not a bit expensive for what it was.

We take our guests' feedback very seriously. Our staff checked and no lightbulbs were out in this cabin. The thermostat was working perfectly. As always, we were available as was our caretaker to assist with any issues or questions. We were not contacted.

Great weekend getaway!
Cabin is clean and adorable. Love the little decorations of Bears all over. Bedrooms are small but for family of four perfect. For us just a couple and dog it was great to crash after a long hike. Easy to order food and pickup from Bitter Bones in Saranac. Had great breakfast to go from Blue Moon Cafe in Lake placid. Had problem with water heater it was taken care of right away. Host was pleasant and easy to get a hold of. Visiting during Covid. Nice to see people walking around lake placid using masks and practicing social distancing.. Would love to come back when things are a little back to normal. Beautiful town so close by. Got to teach our new dog how to get on a row boat!! Priceless..

Great place to stay in the ADK!
My wife and I really enjoyed the location. We stayed at the “Bear” cabin and this was perfect for our weekend of leaf peeping and mountain hiking. Availability of canoes, kayaks, and row boats is a great bonus. We would definitely stay at the property again!

My wife, three young boys and myself enjoyed bear cabin on lake Colby. The owners were very responsive when we needed something. The location is perfect for visiting Tupper and especially Lake Placid. The dock was great to fish off of. You are right next to the other cabins but The other guests were quiet. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Wonderful retreat!
My family of four and our dog stayed in Bear cabin in August, 2019. Bear cabin is small, but beds and furniture are comfortable, the cabin is clean and nicely decorated and the kitchen is well stocked. The neighboring cabins are close, but there are trees that help with privacy. The shared dock is directly in front of Bear cabin, so my children enjoyed the easy access to the row boats and fishing, and our dog enjoyed going for a swim. The public beach is very close, and we enjoyed a few visits to that area as well. It is about a 20 minute drive to Lake Placid. We also hiked Cascade and Porter which are very close. The only drawback is its proximity to the main road, but it wasn't really an issue for us. Huda, the owner was very friendly and accommodating and quick to resolve an small issue we had.
