Unique renovated mid-century motel with inspiring decor and a garden courtyard worthy of meditation. Breakfast included locally sourced granola, yogurt and coffee. Located in an artsy neighborhood with really nice parks in walking distance. I recommend the restaurant across the street for breakast or lunch. If you want a walk or run, the Santa Rosa river trail is 2 blocks away. Only drawback is you need to use overflow parking when they are busy, but it is free.

Super cute retro feel, very clean. We had a great stay, staff were super friendly and accommodating. The only downside is there is no hot water to take a shower. Otherwise would absolutely stay again.

It’s a very nice comfortable 50s style motel. Interesting decorations on the outside and landscaping. However, at the moment there’s love construction on the main street out in front. That should be resolved in the next couple months. Definitely recommend.

The floor in my room was concrete with stains and cracks from the past. Just because they accept pets shouldnt mean they cant get some linoleum or vinyl to make the floors more comfortable to walk on barefoot. Towels were in the closet across the sink area from the shower. Tiles in front of the sink are VERY slippery when wet.

My husband and I stayed here with our 1 year old. The room was clean and comfortable for us. The staff were friendly. The location is quiet and yet close to the downtown area. We would love to stay here again.

Friendly, helpful staff. Great, fun loction, easy parking. Felt like my car and I were both safe. Super cute decor, comfy, plush bed. Love aesthetic of concrete floor and doorless shower, makes for very unpleasant, chilly eperience on cold mornings. Breakfast room warm and welcoming, but lacks protein options. $6 erroneous charge on bill. Removed with no questions asked phone call (thank you) but still irritating.

Bring your ear plugs if you want heat in your room
Wall heater went on was like trying to sleep next to a 747 jet engine; incredibly loud and stiflingly hot; alternative was to turn it off and freeze. Bare concrete floors were extremely cold; "breakfast" consisted of decent coffee, yogurt, granola and apples.

You can feel the unique and loving care put into restoring this Motel. I loved all of the artistic touches with sculptures in the garden and artwork everywhere. And I appreciated the care for honoring the mid-century history of the place - like the telephone switchboard panel displayed in the lounge. The breakfast served included delicious granola from a local restaurant and quality yogurt. The room itself was clean and comfortable.

Loved my stay here. I stayed here one time in the past & enjoyed it, so when I was in the area again this was the first place I thought of. I was in Santa Rosa a little over a week for work, and everything from the clean rooms & friendly staff to the granola(my favorite) made my experience in SR much better. The staff was very accommodating, and this will probably be the only place I’d like to stay whenever I’m in Santa Rosa again.

Great Motel, Great Bargain
Great little hotel, great bargain. Walking distance from downtown. Would recommend to anyone looking to stay somewhere without frills in Santa Rosa, who also wanted some comfort and isolation. One little thing though, the hot water in the shower was just warm for 2 out of 4 days we were there. A little annoying, and I almost never saw anyone at the reception desk to mention it to. Regardless of those minor, easily fixable things, I had a great time. 4/5.

This property is managed very poorly and "cheaply"! They have pulled the carpets from the room, painted the concrete floors and stuck a couple of dirty old rugs on the floor that are more of a fall danger than protection. No elevator, breakfast was a large pot of water downed coffee and apples!

Yes, our floors are concrete. This stylistic choice also makes it easier for us to be the pet-friendly property that we are; it's easier to achieve the high standard of cleanliness that we demand, we are small family owned little hotel with 34 rooms with just two floors, and our complementary breakfast happen to be, organic fruit, the best granola in two made by our sister restaurant The spinster sis, organic local yogurt with organic local coffee as well, we are very sorry you couldn't appreciate our property and the amenities we offer.

We loved the funky, mid century retro vibe. The grounds feature a beautiful and functional garden creating restful and fun places to sit outdoors. The breakfast bar served the best tasting and healthiest granola I have ever had and came from a restaurant a block away. The room was spotless. The bed was comfy. There was lots of hot water. Our dog and us loved the park across the street planted by Luther Burbank. Definitely our new go to when stopping in Santa Rosa.

We love The Astro and will keep coming back
We love our stays at The Astro. It is a groovy, friendly, fun experience every time. The rooms are clean, the location is lovely, the gardens are a fantastic place to sit and relax, it is bike-friendly, and the price is always right. It's also a Sonoma local experience with great recommendations from the Spinster Sisters. There are cool restaurants, breweries, and bakeries nearby. You can walk to anything in downtown Santa Rosa. We use it as a base for exploration of the Sonoma Coast and area. I would recommend The Astro to anyone

We were just there on 11/22-23, and all the staff, esp the man on night duty (Matt) were friendly and efficient! The breakfast was a nice treat! And the place is within walking distance to some nice parks and dinner spots. The room was clean and thank you for the slippers! The floors were cold, but we were able to warm up the room with the heater. Appreciated the neat decor and the overall vibe of the place. Authentic and unique! We'll come back for sure. I'll put a review on Trip Advisor.

Just had a little trouble with the remote. You had to take it off the "guide" screen in order ro get it to respond. So jist punch in the channel outside the guide.

Nice short stay
The motel was fixed up nicely. It was contemporary and quirky decor. Very clean and comfortable. The shower was excellent! It was a little noisy during the night with street noise. The “breakfast” was only coffee and yogurt. But the homemade granola was delicious. I sat outside in the garden and it was quiet and lovely.

Parking was a little odd. Young women at front desk was very quick with the check in process. The “balcony” was a little outdated looking , and could be a little cleaner. ( it was raining so that could be why )

This was so cute and boutique-y! We loved how friendly the front desk people were and the rooms were so cute! The neighborhood behind the hotel was a little dark at night...but next to the park, super cute and next to dining and coffee shops!
