Felt like home
The apartment is perfect! So cozy and adorable, makes you feel like you belong to that place. I've spent some of the best days of my life in NYC and definitely this apartment is one the reasons. Sonja is the best host I've ever met, she's pretty adorable and attentive. I can't wait to come back!

Charming apartment and easy process
Everything exceeded our expectations. The apartment is charming and in a lovely neighborhood. Away from the more touristy areas, but with plenty to do, including nice walks. We loved our stay inside, especially the adorable kitchen. Everything we needed and more. Seamless check in and communication. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Great and cosy spot!
The apartment is ideal for a couple who want to be comfortable and cosy in NYC! Super close to subway station to get everywhere. Apartment has everything you could need and more — host was also very communicative and helpful!

Location great but apartment was disappointing
Based on the online presentation we had expected a much nicer apartment and house. The enterance to the apartment was littered with garbage and not pleasant at all. In addition to the poor cleanness of the apartment, we had problems with the heating and thus could not enjoy our stay at the appartment in December.

Sweet little Harlem gem
Great place! Great location from subway about 3 blocks. Had everything you need. We cooked a couple meals there. Bed was very comfortable and pillows. Quiet neighborhood. We would stay again!

The property has everything you need and was clean and organized. There were a few minor things like having to put the key back in the lockbox because there was not an extra one but it was actually a relief not to have to carry the key and possibly lose it. There were a few small things that could have been improved but for the most part everything went well. It was comfortable!

This really was a home from home. It had everything you could want. Sonia and Mary were always helpful. The apartment was spacious and welcoming.

Sunday through Wed stay. Very convenient, comfortable, quiet and safe. Close to subway, eateries, wine shop and local markets. We plan to stay here again. Two pillows were soft two were really hard. Washing machine out of order. Need passwords to watch tv.

My mother and I went to NYC for my 30th birthday. The property was very clean and fully furnished. Great neighborhood close to subway and bus line that stops at the LGA airport. Check in and check out was a breeze. Property manager easy to contact and quickly responded. Would highly recommend..

If you are good with using public transportation, then this isn’t a bad spot! The space was nice and spacious. Kitchen had lots of cook wear, and bedroom was big. The outdoor space (off the bedroom) would be really nice if they eventually cleaned it up! Wasn’t a loud area, so that was good for sleeping. Had some cool restaurants around the college area, nothing really close though. We mainly used this space for sleeping, as we were out and about exploring all day!

My daughter and I planned a trip to celebrate our birthdays. We wanted to be close to Central Park to run and close to subway to go to Yankee game and YS Open. Great location! Mary lives above property and is easily reached to answer any questions.

La casa es tal cual se ve en las imágenes, pero necesita bastantes arreglos. Luces que no funcionan, aparatos portátiles de aire, cucarachas en la cocina. Cómo útiles y detalles tiene de todo, pero lo que es el mantenimiento en general es bastante mejorable. Justo antes de llegar nos avisaron que había un andamio en la entrada, la verdad que era bastante incómodo acceder y quitaba luz al comedor

A Hidden Gem in Harlem
This place is stocked with everything you’ll ever need for a great stay. The unit is well organized, clean and spacious! More space than the pictures captured. Check in was super easy and shopping, restaurants, etc. are just footsteps away. I’d stay here again without hesitation! I even saw and met a few celebrities walking in the neighborhood! What a gem in the heart or Harlem.

Holiday in NYC
Would I stay again; Yes. Spacious Property on ground flood in Harlem circa 100 mtr from Express train into Central Manhatten. Tastefully decorated, If you want to cook; then you have all the equipment you need and local Supermarket 3 blocks away (3 floors). Local restaurant Vinateria really enjoyed and it was good to get away from all the hustle of Downtime. Why not 5? Couple of fixings (bathroom towel hook) are starting to come loose, but this is all minor for the cost and space you have paid for in Harlem. It was a pleasant place to sit in evening after all the sightseeing of the day.

Got the towels racks repaired . It would of been nice if they had sent me a e-mail telling me the towel racks was loose. We do say in all of our check in instructions, if there is a problems call us or send us a e-mail. Mary

Harlem apartment
Apartment located just minutes from the 125th street subway station, which makes it very handy. It’s well equipped, especially the kitchen. I had booked it specifically because it had a washer & drier advertised (as I had been travelling for 10 days and this was the start of a 5 day holiday). I was therefore initially upset at the labels on the washer & drier saying they were out of use, however on contacting Sonja, she sent someone around to show how they could be used. There are parts of the apartment (paintwork, woodwork etc) that look a little unfinished and there were some cobwebs etc throughout. However, overall it’s a great place to stay.

The property needs a deep cleaning. On the surface everything appeared clean but the more you looked around you see a lot of room for improvement. Another strange thing is that the property owner had a book on the coffee table that had pictures of every item in the property and you were expected to check to make sure that everything was in the apartment. The property owner did allow us to drop off our bags early which was much appreciated. Also I did not get the information about there being no cable service until right before we went on our trip which was disappointing. My sister was eventually able to get on Direct TV so we could watch TV but the internet service was not that great and the picture kept stalling. Also we had to ask for clean towels every day. I would have thought that would have been an automatic service. The plus side was it was very close to the bus and subway so catching a ride somewhere was very easy. Overall it was OK but not that great. I probably would not try booking an apartment or house again. This was our first time trying this type of housing and we will probably stick to hotels in the future. We also checked out a day early.

We did not dismiss this person's review. We did however take a look at the apt & found some minor things. Nothing will ever be clean enough for this person. A check on our reviews speaks for itself. There was a lot of rain that week, so the internet could've been spotty at times. We have no control of that. On our check-in instructions we offer extra towels & sheets. Those were provided. That said, this is not an automatic service even in some hotels. It must be requested. Some people expect a level of cleanliness & service that hotels give due to the teams of people operating in the hotel. This is a lived in home. The customer was given the opportunity to let us know if there were any issues. Had she, they would've been addressed immediately. This customer is correct. perhaps she should use a 5 star hotel from now on.

The Best Getaway Ever!
From the time I first saw this lovely apartment online, I knew it was the place for us!! Everything was so convenient! We were able to find everything we needed for our stay! We cooked breakfast almost every day. We made several trips to the corner deli for bagels! Our hostess was only an email or phone call away. We would love to return to this cozy apartment someday soon!!

Stayed here for 5 nights and loved it. Easy walk to the subway & loads of good places to eat nearby. The apartment was bigger than it had looked in the photos & was really comfortable. Great location, comfortable and quiet
A short, pleasant walk to the subway station where the A and D express lines delivered us quickly to all of our jumping off points. Also near the M60 bus line to La Guardia. An easy walk to a selection of grocery stores and delis including a Whole Foods just a few blocks away.

Great value
I stayed here for a week in March 2019. The location was great. With the bedroom being in the back, I was pleasantly surprised by how quiet it was at night. The kitchen is totally equipped for cooking. I did none, but if someone wanted to prepare meals at home, all the right tools are there. This unit is just a ten or fifteen minute walk to Columbia. The owner was responsive to nightly requests for the heat to be turned on, and she gave permission to use the washer and dryer. The latter was important to me, so I am glad that facilities available matched what had been written about the unit in the vrbo write-up. I enjoyed my stay, and think it was great value for the money.

Exactly as advertised, close to metro!
This is a lovely apartment in uptown/Harlem. I was nervous I’d feel unsafe but I didn’t. 5 min walk to metro, 10 min walk to Central Park. The apartment was clean and exactly as the pictures suggest. It was great to have a bit more space and be able to cook. Netflix isn’t offered anymore but that’s fine as I had Amazon prime which I could sign in to, plus I wasn’t there to watch TV. There is strong WiFi which was great. It is a basement apartment so you do sometimes hear the floor above moving around, but other than that the street is surprisingly quiet. The owner was quite responsive. We only had one issue to do with heating and she dealt with it straight away (I asked for more hours of heat in the evening as it was 29 degrees)!!! Great apartment away from the main hustle and bustle but 20 mins metro ride from the good stuff. Oh and great running routes in Central Park. Personally I think good value for money. Thanks Sonja

This reservation was a challenge for the cleaner. This apartment was set up for only two person, however we hire a host who talked us into allowing up to 4 persons. So we did not know if 4 people would be comfortable enough. The reservation was reduce to 3 person. We just install a new thermostat, so it is a challenge to make everyone happy, but the good thing about this thermostat, you can adjust it away from home. After adding up the 2018 Spectrum, or Time Warner bills for 3 apartments we manage, we was shock at how much we spent on cable. After evaluation, we decided to make a change. I can go on for hours about the cable companies. I am happy that we were able to accommodate the 3 young ladies. They were good tenants, and left everything as found. The cleaner was not happy about the amount of towels he had to wash. He has only 4hrs to finish an apartment, so i am left with the rest of the laundry to do. The tenants are welcome to come back anytime, and on behalf of myself and employees, thank you for your business. Sonja

This a great find I'm the middle of Harlem. Very homey feel with great amenities!
This was our second stay in this beautiful gem. We highly recommend it to anyone looking to stay in Manhattan. You're just a short trip away to hundreds of great attractions. You always will feel at home here.

Nice and spacious. The décor was a little tired in places but was clean and tidy and price was good.
My daughter (16) and I visited New York for 10 days and wanted a little more room than just a small hotel room. Sonja's place was nice and spacious and we had the flexibility of arranging our own breakfasts before we left each morning. There was also the flexibility of popping a pizza or ready meal in the oven if we wanted to in the evening after a long day out sightseeing whilst watching a Netflix movie. The décor was a little tired in places but was clean and tidy and had everything we needed and the price was very good. 125st (Harlem) Subway is a few minutes walk and there is the option of both Express and Local trains, which made travelling into the heart of all the site seeing much quicker than I expected. We purchased the 7 day unlimited Metro (Subway) card for $35 dollars each which I would definitely recommend as we used the Subway to go everywhere and flexibility to visit lots of different areas in any one day and also when we got a little lost it did not cost us anymore. We also booked the 7 day New York Pass which was also amazing as you can do and see as much as you can basically fit in and we did not start to use it until day 3. We arrived on day 1 very late afternoon (3 hours wait at immigration pass port control) and as we were very tired we got a take out and watched a Netflix movie. Day 2 I had booked the coach trip to Woodbury Common which I can definitely recommend for clothes shopping. The prices for Ralph Lauren were amazing. In fact we did most of our clothes shopping here!! Prices were much better than in Macy's. Although if you hold a Macy's credit card you get additional money off on top of sale prices. Day 3 was the start of sight seeing and activating our 7 day New York Pass. If I had realised at the time I would have purchased our 7 day unlimited Metro card on this day also as we effectively lost 2 full days of maximum use out of it. It would have been cheaper to pay the one way fare from the JFK air train to the apartment $2.50 each and $5 each for the return trip to the bus station for Woodbury shopping trip. We ended up having to top up our Metro cards with a lot more than this so bear this in mind with your planning. We arrived with a jam packed itinerary to use as a guide and help us get as much out of our New York pass as possible and it helped a lot. The only thing I would do differently would be to plan a couple of rainy days that we can switch around when needed. We had an amazing trip/stay

Wonderful, warm, welcoming, superbly equipped and quiet apartment in great location
We had a fantastic 10 day stay at Sonja's apartment and highly recommend it to anyone going to New York. The apartment is large and so comfortable and wonderfully well equipped with pretty much everything you can think of, and was spotlessly clean. We arrived early whilst it was still being cleaned but were able to leave our bags there and go out for a coffee whilst it was finished. At the end of our stay Sonja booked a taxi for us to the airport which saved us the bother. We found the location of the apartment perfect for us. Well away from the frenetic centre of Manhattan but with superb transport links. The subway is a few minutes walk away and takes you straight into the centre. If you get the express train it is literally only 10 minutes and 20-25 on the local train. Direct lines take you to some of the main sights including Ground Zero and the Staten Island Ferry (for views of the Statue of Liberty) and across to Brooklyn for a walk back over the bridge. You can easily walk to Central Park and round the sights of Harlem and Morningside Heights. We felt completely safe the whole time we were there and loved the peace and quiet of the apartment after hectic days sightseeing. We have stayed in rentals in many countries and this apartment is definitely one of the very best. Highly recommended.

It is so well equipped we could not believe there was no corkscrew when we desperately needed one, so now we have a very nice shiny new corkscrew that will always remind us of the wonderful time we had in New York living in Harlem´s Morningsight Heights. Great base for a great stay in NYC
The apartment is the base apartment to one of the beautiful brown stone buildings in Manhattan avenue. The photos are a good reflection but in reality it's a bit more worn but that's doesn't take anything away from the stay. The living room was a great spacious area with WiFi and Netflix included too so was a nice little bonus. The kitchen also good and well equipped. The bedroom was spacious with plenty of storage. Bathroom okay. There is an outside area at the back but this has been neglected. It didn't take away from our experience it just seemed such a shame, could be beautiful. The area was perfect for us as we wanted to be close but far enough away from all the hussle and bustle. There's a mini supermarket just 20 seconds walk away to stock the fridge up with drink and nibbles. There's a variety or take away fast food places just down the street and then you've also got plenty of bars and restaurants nearby which are very good. You don't have to go into Manhattan to go out at night. Plus we felt more relaxed here and completely safe. The subway is just a few minutes walk away too which was great, we used it everyday and was good for getting around. I don't think we would return to NYC but if we did, we would have no hesitation staying here again.

Charming apartment
Conveniently located to subway station. Most places we wanted to visit were no more than a 20 minute walk/ride. The price was great! The apartment was furnished with everything you would need to make your stay comfortable. Sonja allowed us to drop our bags off early so we could go site seeing without lugging bags around. The bed was comfortable and we were able to get a good nights rest after full days of sightseeing. We would recommend this place and would stay here again.

Rude Manager Treats You Like Criminals
In 20 years of travelling around the US and 6 visits to New York I have never encountered a woman so rude as the manager/owner of this property. Looking at the other reviews people might think we were the problem, but we did nothing any other traveller doesn’t ask to do. And the key thing here is that all we did was ask. No demands were made. Never been disappointed by a homeaway rental until now. And we have had many. Also note that we only showered, slept and used the fridge in our time there. Check in time on the booking was 4pm (which I find a bit late anyway). Our flight landed early and when we arrived at 2pm a lovely lady came to the door and we explained we were early and wondered if it was possible to check in. She said she wasn’t sure as Sonia was at the dentist, but we could leave our suitcases there. We then returned at 3pm after messaging the manager but getting nothing in return. At this point the cleaner invited us in. Then the rudest woman I have ever met came in and started essentially treating us like criminals, like we had forced our way. She said check in time was 4pm and that “we have rules in America”. Well in the U.K. we have manners. She blamed us for being allowed in by the cleaner saying that she has no right to let us in as she has to inspect everything first. She made us feel unwelcome and treated us like dirt. When I said I would be leaving this on a review she said “well I’ll leave a review about you too”. We didn’t understand the problem. This is not cheap to rent, and I expect to be treated as a customer should. The whole apartment is geared to you being a thief. There is a 40 page booklet on the table with pictures in of everything there that you are supposed to agree or risk being charged for stealing. This even takes pictures of packs of napkins!! Part of the checks should have been that the ceiling fans in the rooms were working but the bedroom one was not. We had to swap the battery. Also there were areas where it looked damp and mouldy in corners and the back yard is a disgrace. I have photos. The water pressure isn’t great and the bed is not comfy at all. The internet however is fast! I would say to any customer please give your money to someone making an effort to make customers feel welcome. If Sonia isn’t the owner of this apartment and then owner is reading this...get rid of her for the sake of your business. If you are a potential renter...don’t...plenty of other places that won’t ruin your stay.

Very cute place to stay.
Very cute place to stay, few minute walk from the subway station, supermarket and also Central Park. Only criticism we have really is that the walls/ceiling is very thin so we could hear everyone walking around upstairs. But other than that really lovely place to stay. Sonja is also very lovely and very attentive.

Cute little New York apartment in a great area.
This place was so cute and easy access to the subway. Walking distance from Columbia was awesome. Had everything you could think of needing while staying away from home. Would definitely stay here again.

Large and Quiet!
Stayed here with my husband and we could not believe how quiet it was. The bed was a little quirky but overall great stay. Every amenity is thought of and it's very close to the train. It was very easy to get in and we could even drop off our bags early.

Lovely, well equipped apartment in a mostly residential neighborhood on Manahattan’s upper west side
The place is beautifully decorated with a large bedroom and good closet space. It is on the “garden” (or below street) level of a brownstone building so very little natural light, not atypical in a city apartment. Kitchen is small but well equipped; overall the use of space is very impressive. Very well situated for west side subways and connections (you can get anywhere). One block from small but lovely Morningside Park. For best local dining options head south and east.,,@ 116th are good spots and markets Overall, a great spot to spend a few days in the greatest city!

amazing location/in the heart of harlem
Sonja was very friendly and also very helpful. We really enjoyed our stay - the apartment was so lovely and we really felt at home. The location was great and the subway was just a few blocks up the street; also, several bars and restaurants were within walking distance. Thanks much for this beautiful stay!

Great apartment in a quiet neighbourhood!
Sonja’s apartment is the perfect getaway after a day on the town. Lots of room and has everything you need. Close to 2 subway stations and the main bus line M60 as well as convenience stores and a mall. Sonja is very accommodating allowing us to drop off our bags 2 hours earlier than check-in, she checked in by email regularly to make sure everything was good. Would definitely stay here again.
